Chloe is a successful solicitor when her life is devastated when her parents and brother are killed in a tragic car accident. So she decides to make more changes in her life. The first being to relocate to the 'middle of nowhere'and be an office assistant. She makes friends with Jenna who is the mayor's sister and she explains to Chloe why people keep staring at her - she is the only human in a shifter town! She wants to move out of the hotel that she's staying in and Jenna suggests that she applies to be her nephew's nanny as his mother is dead and his Dad is struggling to juggle his job and being a single Dad. Oh my gosh - the chemistry between these two is off the charts and Jenna's 'plan' to set her new friend up with her brother, Ace, seems to be working out extremely well. The banter is witty and flirty and great fun to read. This is one of many books that I have read by Sophie Stern and it was a fast paced read with plenty of delicious innuendo. The fact that this is a bear shifter story makes it even more special for me as they are my favourites. I look forward to reading more of Sophie's wonderful stories. I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review. Most definitely recommended.

Quick Summary  After loosing her family unexpectedly, Chloe decides she needs a fresh start somewhere far away from all the painful memories. So she quits her job and finds a low level, low stress admin job in the small town of Beeswax, Colorado.

The town is picturesque but the locals seem a bit standoff-ish and the rental options are slim pickings, so when she's offered a live in nanny position with free room and board, Chloe doesn't hesitate. But the single daddy happens to be the sexy Mayor she almost ran over and they both can't seem to keep their hands off!

Both Chloe and Ace have suffered loss and neither one was looking for anything but time to grieve and heal a broken heart. Will they get a chance to explore a second chance at love or will an outside force rip them apart for good? Someone is stirring up trouble for the shifters and Ace will need to stop the threat before it gets too close to Chloe and his baby.

~ My Thoughts ~
I am a sucker for shifter romances and this one sounded amazing! But I definitely felt like the blurb was a little misleading.

The blurb states:
Ace doesn't have a lot going for him. He's a single dad to a child he hadn't planned for, and when clan duties call him away from home, he has no choice but to hire a nanny for baby Wilder.

But Ace is actually the Mayor of his shifter town. So kind of like the Alpha of the pack. He is a widower who is still mourning the sudden death of his wife/mate and mother of his child, over a year ago.

We wanted a baby for so long. We tried and tried, and then Wilder came into our lives like a magical bundle of joy.

That doesn't sound like Wilder wasn't planned. Just a small inconsistency but it did stand out to me. The story is super sweet and the author gave us some pretty spicy scenes between Ace and Chloe but Ace reminisces a lot about his deceased wife and I felt that was a little bit of a downer. Mainly because I wasn't expecting the Hero to be in love with OW. He never makes Chloe feel second best or anything but it wasn't what I was expecting.

I also noticed they never say "I love you" to each other. They both realize (internally) that they are in love but it's never said out loud, not even during the epilogue. This is a short novella but a heartfelt "I love you" would have made the ending that much sweeter. Ends on a HFN.

I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving an honest review. As I’ve said before, I always give honest reviews whether people appreciate them or not.

This story begins with Ace mourning his wife at the cemetery. His best friend Brock is with him, supporting him. Ace is completely distraught and has no idea how he’s going to maintain his status as Alpha as well as raise his baby son. We then meet Chloe, an attorney who has given up working and is moving to some little town in the middle of nowhere Colorado. She seems to have lost everything and just wants a change. Ooookay. The town’s name is Beeswax, and when she arrives it seems as if everyone sniffs her. It’s a tad off putting. She gets a job as an administrative assistant but can’t find a place to live. She meets Jemma, who is actually pretty nice and helpful. She tells Chloe that Beeswax is a shifter town and she might know of a place for Chloe. That place comes with babysitting, so what the heck? Why not?

Ace is the Mayor of Beeswax and the alpha. He’s a Grizzly, but the shifters in their pack are varied; lions, tigers, foxes, wolves… He’s having a tough time finding childcare for his son, Wilder. On top of that, there seems to be some weird stuff happening in the town, or outskirts of town. It seems like humans are cutting down parts of the forest and killing plants, thus endangering their food sources. Even though they are shifters, they have no idea who’s doing it and they never manage to catch them. Surprisingly, it’s Chloe that manages to accidentally give them the break they need in the case.

I really like this story. Chloe is such a great character. She’s strong, courageous and an actually good person. Ace is a good bear and a good dad, but his attempts to find childcare are humorous. One of the things I liked the best is that Ms. Stern didn’t give us the usual trope where Ace would be too guilt ridden over his deceased wife to have a relationship with Chloe. The two of them do manage to get together, but the drama with the humans was pretty intense and well done. The only reason I didn’t give it five stars is because of the editing issues it has. I’ve never read anything from Ms. Stern, but I may need to look for her other books.

Chloe is a lawyer and her family is killed by a drunk driver. Unable to take living in the same area anymore she decides she needs a fresh start. She picks a knew town and a different job yet she had no clue exactly how different until she gets there. The new community she chose is a shifter one and she has no idea until one of them clued her in when she couldn't get anyone to rent her a place to live. Ace just lost his wife to a freak thing that can happen to shifters something that they are taught about but never think it'll happen to them. Now he has to raise their son on his own. Chloe meets Ace's sister and she refers her to the nanny position because its a live in job and it'll be a potion to work around her other job. Chloe goes for the interview and is surprised when its the Mayor the man she's been running into. Sparks continue to fly between them and just when she thinks the job offer will fall through he offers it to her. Especially because of how well his son takes to her. Will Ace see that Chloe is perfect for his family? Can they handle the threat to the shifters?

This is an amazing story it will draw you in from the fist chapter and leave you wanting more. The chemistry between them is blazing hot. This is a well written and very entertaining story. I would recommend this book to any book lover.

Chloe left behind everything she was a brilliant high-powered lawyer but it wasn't enough to keep her after she lost everything. She couldnt stay there any longer. Even though her best friend wasn't happy that she was leaving but she totally understood. Chloe had got a new job as a PA in Beeswax, Colorado. She was excited to get there and start a fresh.
Ace was a shifter and sadly lost her wife and mate not long after she had baby wilder. Ace had been coping with babysitters but it was getting more difficult to carry out his commitments. Ace was the leader of the pack and also the town mayor. So he was looking for a live in nanny to help with Wilder after school and at weekends.
Chloe was not expecting to be stared at all the time or find it so difficult to find somewhere to live, until Jemma explains that she has moved to a shifter town. Chloe had no idea but Jemma has a idea she could apply to be her brothers live in nanny?? Chloe isn't sure but she is fed up of living in the hotel so she takes a chance.
But on her way home from her first day working as a PA She nearly hits the mayor with her car!!
This is a fantastic story. The banter is just electric and the chemistry between Chloe and Ace is off the charts. But I also liked the friendship Chloe had with the cheeky Jemma. It will have you laughing out loud.
A brilliant read!!!!

Chloe, a high-powered attorney, experienced the loss of her parents and brother in a car accident and feels compelled to start over new somewhere else. She picks the small town of Beeswax, Colorado, unaware that it is a shifter town. Finding a job as an administrative assistant, and supplementing that with part-time nanny work, but she needs to find a place to live.

Jemma tells Chloe about the shifters and suggested a live-in nanny position that might work for Chloe. She accepts the job working for a bear shifter Alpha named Ace, the mayor of the town who is frequently called away from home with clan duties and needs care for his son, Wilder. Will she and Ace allow themselves to fall in love? Can they heal the grief each of them has experienced and have a family to love? But is there danger threatening with whatever is happening in their woods?

I enjoy this author’s books, and this one is no exception. It was well-written with a great story line, and the author focuses on the characters and their emotions. The detail is really excellent and brings the whole thing to life. Grab your copy and enjoy this shifter story!

She is starting over but there is a surprise with her new town

Resting Bear Face is a sweet insta-love story between Ace and Chloe. This single father to a young cub has more than enough on the go when he also has some added duties that are going to require him hiring a nanny. In comes Chloe, about the exact opposite of what he was expecting. Chloe has left her high paying legal job in the big city to start over in a small Colorado town. What she did not know is that the town she chose is filled with shifters and her new boss, also the town mayor, in the pack leader. Before long they are having some fun but there is some danger happening around the town.
This is a fast-paced shifter story with a bit of danger, mystery and suspense. There were a few things that I sort of scratched my head about but overall I enjoyed this book.

BTW - not sure about anyone else but the baby on the cover freaks me out. If I was the author I would make a change to this one as I almost passed this book over just because of the face...........it is definitely not "resting".

I received an ARC of this book in exchange for my honest review. My opinions are all my own.

Two people getting over a loss, have a chance to start over. Chloe was a high powered attorney, but after losing her parents and brother in a car accident she needs a change. She moves to a small town to work in an office as an assistant, and works as a part time nanny for free room and board. She didn’t know it but she has moved to a shifter town. And the man she will be living with is a bear shifter named Ace, who is also the mayor of the town. She and Ace become romantically involved, but someone or some group is targeting the town. As the incidents happen more frequently they seem to now be targeting Ace. But why? And is everyone around him in danger? I loved the way Ace’s sister set up Chloe and Ace. That’s all i thought about as i read this story. An alpha, Ace, who is lost his mate and is one a single father. A cub who needs a mother to nourish and keep him safe when his dad is not around. Finding appropriate childcare is ridiculous for humans let alone a shifter. So maybe a nanny or babysitter might have to do for the moment. Enters Chloe. She is from the city wanting to slow things down and regroup for the sake of sanity. Nothing can shock her after being an attorney from the big city but the alpha who is drawing her attention. A grizzly no less. Aren’t they supposed to be the most feared bear or is that any bear with the taste of human blood on their tongue. Oh well. Adventure awaits to find solutions to the land, child and hearts for Chloe and Ace.

This is a Great romance with lots of action and a vendetta. Chloe has lost everything important to her and leaves a high paying career and her friends behind to move to a small town in Colorado. Ace has lost the most important person in his life and is left raising his son alone. When he needs a nanny his sister makes a recommendation that will give him more than he ever expected. When Chloe sees something she is not supposed to she gives the police the first clue in a case that has been haunting the town for a long time. When Chloe meets her new boss she can not fight the attraction. This is another great story by this author.

Chloe leaves her job and home to try to avoid the feelings she has about loosing her family and ends up in Beeswax, Colorado. Ace is the alpha bear shifter of the small town who is still mourning the loss of his mate and mother to his child. The title of the book doesn’t really tell you anything about the story so if you are confused about what it means, it doesn’t matter. The chemistry between them is instantaneous but they don’t know the entire story because they don’t have each other’s full name. There are cute/funny scenes between Chloe and Jemma, Ace’s sister. There is one scene with a certain amount of gore and a little violence but they are not major parts of the book.

A bear shifter romance with heat. 💞💓🐻💞

When Chloe's job implodes, she decides to pack up what she owns and move on to a new job and a new town. But once she gets to Beeswax, Colorado, she discovers it's a bit harder to find a new place to stay than she counted on. In the meantime, Ace, a single dad and bear clan leader, needs someone to help care for his son, Wilder. When he explains that the job comes with its own room and it shouldn't interfere with her full-time job, she jumps at it since she adores little Wilder. And Ace isn't so bad himself... 💗🔥💕

Like all of Sophia Stern's books they are all new and exciting. This is a fast paced story about Chloe who needs a change in her life. She moves to a small town and works as an assistant, and part time nanny for room and board. Ace ended up becoming a single dad, something that he didn't plan for. Chloe is the nanny for Ace and she is in for a surprise when she finds that she is now living in a shifters town. There is mystery, adventure, action, and a man and woman who are falling in love with each other. Great story, you won't be disappointed. Chloe has a hard time coping with the loss of her family due to a car accident, and wants a fresh start with nothing to remind her of her family.
She chooses a small town, Beeswax, unaware that it is a mostly shifter town. to be able to find a place to live she agrees to an on-call nanny service to the mayor of town, which comes with a small apartment.
As expected by the reader, there is a mating in the air ...
A fun story, nothing new or exciting, but well-written and entertaining.

This book is about two people who have suffered great loss that find their happiness in each other. Chloe lost her entire family and is looking for a new start. Ace lost his mate and the mother of his child and is struggling to carry on. There is confusion in how they meet each other and bad guys who want to hurt the town. It all comes together in a HEA. There are some editing issues so I took off for that. All in all I recommend this book.

Chloe moves to a small Colorado town to get away Fter her parents die. She is not expecting much except to start over. It is hard at first as she is a human and most of the town is shifted. She eventually fits in and everything gets more comfortable, she even falls in love but is she enough for the big, gorgeous Mayor or is his past to much to keep them apart? adventure, mystery, intrigue, and romance this book has it all. A great read with a HEA.

This story was different from most of the shifter books I have read lately. Chloe quit her law firm and moved to a small town not knowing it was a shifter town. She meets the mayor and takes a nanny job along with her daytime job so she would have a place to live. She finds out their is a vendetta against the shifters and accidently sees them in action. The characters were very likeable and I love the chemistry between Ace and Chloe and his little boy Wilder is very sweet. I loved it

Loved the book it was great, the story was well written and the characters are interesting. Ace needed a nanny, Chloe needed somewhere to live after moving to a small town. The chemistry between them is intense but Ace cannot have her, he is a shifter and she is human. Can they resist or stop fighting the inevitable?

Ace and Chloe are cute. It's a sweet instalove story. It did a feel even more instant then some others as it felt like it was you were good ways into the book before the two really met. That did help you get to know them individually a bit better thou. There is a bit of mystery along with the romance overall a fun short story.

I really enjoyed this romance about a bear shifter falling for his live in nanny. Both characters had major tragedies in their lives but they got through it together. Their chemistry was instant and steamy. The background plot kept the book a page turner and I was glad everything was solved at the end. Only wished the epilogue was a little more detailed but all in all the book was a great read.

Another fun lighthearted read. The misunderstandings between Chloe and Ace were entertaining. They had both experienced tragedy which indirectly brought them together only to find that there was an instant attraction between them. There was a mystery in the background while they both acted on instinct and indulged in their attraction to each other.
