Fun and sexy story

A definite must-read for monster girl fans! Readers should check out the monster girl encyclopedia online for monster girl lore since this book makes heavy use of existing material.

This book is everything i wanted and more when i picked it up.

This book is another in the growing monstergirl genre, inspired primarily by japanese manga and artists. This book specifically takes heavy inspitation from kenkou cross's MGE. But while the setting may be largely borrowed, the story and characters are original and engaging enough that i don't count that as a detriment.

The main character is extremely likable, and that alone is something that caught my attention. He's not over powered or helpless, which is a very delicate balancing act for these kinds of books. In fact, that is one of the biggest selling points of this book in particular. Characters are likable.

The side characters, the villains, the harem, all of them are written in such a way that they feel like people instead of plot devices. The villain in fact is a very sympathetic character, and the short chapters from his point of view are some of my favorites. The girls that fall for our hero are all recognizable by how they talk. They each have a very distinct personality. Which is impressive for how many there are.

That's one of my sort of gripes. The harem is large. 16 girls at the end. The author does a good enough job setting it up, i didnt think it was far fetched considering polygamy is introduced early, and in fact another side character actually ends up with 20 girls off screen. But i wish he had held off until the sequel for the main character to get with everyone.

He does a good job, better than most should with so many girls, but the last 3 girls feel rather tacked on. Again, that should say something that i only felt the last 3 out of 16 broke my immersion, and even then not much.

But beside that one hiccup, the story which the book actually focuses on is very engaging. I don't want to spoil it.

CW: Rape

David is a wizard. He loses a fight, & instead of being killed, he’s petrified. Next thing he knows, it’s 3700 years later, & someone worked out how to wake him up.

Shenanigans ensue as David is thrust into a new world order.

First off, this book needs a damn good line edit.
Then it needs a damn good overall edit.

The part where our hero is blatantly raped, & the narrative twists this experience to make it all okay?
That should be the first big cut.

Opie Anderson, go find a male rape victim willing to speak to you about his assault. Then re-think your work.

Looking forward to the next one

I enjoyed the premise, it was unique and original. The characters were well written and we'll developed. My only minor concern was the need for some minor editing, though the mistakes aren't bad and doesn't detract from the experience.

Not bad

Not bad, I guess, if harems are your thing. The story line was pretty unique, but the hokey emotional stuff was a little over the top. There were a lot of unanswered questions, so it makes me wonder about the "happy ending" (great play on words though).
