Be the Greatest Product Manager Ever is the playbook on how you can move up the PM career ladder. This book is suitable for PMs of all levels from individual contributors to senior executives. Be the Greatest Product Manager Ever features Lewis C. Lin’s brand-new career management the ESTEEM Method™. The ESTEEM Method™ details, for the first time ever, the six core competencies you need to move up in your PM E xecution S uperior Communication Skills T actical Awareness E xtraordinary Mental Toughness E xceptional Team Builder M oonshot Vision Unlike other books, Lin explains not only why but also how. In other words, Lin will reveal his secret frameworks, tools, and wisdom to strengthen your ESTEEM™ competencies If you've ever wondered what you need to do move up the PM career ladder, Lin provides the secret tools, frameworks, and wisdom to make it to the top from PM to CEO.
It's an easy read (I read physical book this time) by Lewis C Lin (who is famous for PM interview prep books) and he introduced new ESTEEM framework. Good book (though expensive for $18.62 price and 159 pages in total) and useful for PMs to get to next level. Sometimes I do feel like these are just compilations of blog posts? The most interesting part is toward the end about onboarding new PM and how to build long-lasting teams and give feedback / take criticisms . Maybe I will re-read it sometime in the future once I become a people manager.
Lin's frameworks for career advancement are helpful for those working in any function, not just product management. He tailors his examples to be PM-relevant and largely applicable to those working in large or corporate environments. Lin intentionally designed the book to be a "playbook" and one that you will want to refer back to again and again.
Awesome clearly define techniques, insight, approach to problem solving and team building. This read made me self reflect and really try to find major growth areas.
