Rate this book
Unceremoniously dumped by her latest boyfriend, violinist Grace Richmond is told she is too easygoing, a pushover. So she swaps her eclectic clothing for power suits, pins up her wayward curls and acts tough. Voila! New Grace is born. But the fine line between assertive and obnoxious eludes her. Her new persona seems to be generating greater problems - particularly in her relationship with her attractive new neighbor. Can she let down her guard long enough for him to see the true Grace - clumsy and soft though she may be?

Recently divorced sci-fi writer Harry Birmingham just wants a quiet life in suburbia with his eight-year-old son, William, and their dog, Woof. He swiftly discovers two things - his new home is next door to a practicing musician, and Woof howls when he hears a violin. Intent on peaceful cohabitation, Harry is alarmed to meet a woman frighteningly reminiscent of his ex-wife. Grace is aggressive, prickly, and downright rude, even if she is gorgeous. But Harry wonders if he's missing something - William and Woof adore her. Is there more to Grace than meets the eye?

Elisabeth has been an avid reader all her life. She dabbled in writing as a teenager but gave it away to study music which has also been a life long passion and is why musicians are often, but not always, her main characters. She plays clarinet in a community orchestra.

Tai Chi is a part of Elisabeth's life and has been since 1987. She and her husband travel a lot and she also plays tennis on a regular basis for social and exercise enjoyment.

Uhh what?? This book was so strange. Sometimes it was narrated in third person and then I think the author got confused and changed it around to first person. Super cheesy story line, and out of nowhere they are in love when they clearly hated each other the entire story. There were so many pointless points bad bad bad

The Right Chord By Elizabeth Rose
Just as love can be a soft breeze when you least expect it, this short novel is like that. It is a sweet romantic story (an Avalon Romance) about a musician who plays the violin and her new next door neighbor, a writer. Although it becomes more complicated, throw in an ex-wife and ex-boyfriend, a dog and a child, it is more than a pleasant read-it is a slice of real life and all the complications.
Grace, realizes that she is not standing up for herself and wants to also win back her boyfriend lawyer so she decides to change. Her change involves the way she dresses and acts. It is what many of us at one time think about and or do. All of this becomes part of the complications.
Note: I enjoyed this book, but had to give it only 4 stars because there is one error in the book, a serious medical one, involving giving aspirin to a child with a fever and that should have been corrected by the editor and was not. Shame, shame, it can lead to debilitation of a child forever.

The Right Chord is a wonderful love story and the third in this Brothers of Audubon Springs series. The story is set back in Audubon Springs and this heartwarming and sometimes heart wrenching tale is the story of Vince Iuliano.

Backstory or setup: Vince Iuliano and Kit Maggio were a hot item back in their high school days. They loved each other as much as any teenager can love. However, Vince was a home and family kind of guy, his family owned a construction business and he pretty much wanted the small town life. Kit was a musical talent on the rise and looking to go to LA. Through some teen angst and misunderstandings he thought it would be better if her didn’t follow her or try to stop her from going, she thought she just wasn’t worth the trouble to him… like I said, angst and stuff!

The really great thing is that Rose Ann DeFranco can use this wonderful angst and its aftermath to weave a heart pounding rebirth of love between the right people. She does so with humor, style and magnificent timing!

I’m not into doing spoilers and ruining this incredibly passionate story. Let me just say their road back to each other and forgetting bad pasts for each of them is what makes this author the one you don’t want to put down. It’s the perfect story for this brother, just like the other two. However, the right thing doesn’t always happen first, as it probably should…shit happens!

Get a really big glass of your favorite beverage, a large supply of tissues, a few soft pillows to throw or throttle and dig in. Enjoy everyone, I certainly did!

6-16-23 The second reading of the right chord I would rate it at 3. Grace a young professional violinist is dumped by her uptight self centered lawyer boyfriend who does not appreciate her. He gets angry because she does argue “right”. She changes her appearance to businesslike and austere. Her response is to be come the “new Grace” aiming toward being more assertive, but ends up being “aggressive”. In the end she finds a balance where she chews out her old boyfriend handily, asks her housemates to take turns cooking and opens herself to love. The message of balance is a positive one. I felt like some of those reactions to her Timsit being assertive or overblown, and wouldn’t have been an issue. If she had been male the book turn the word assertive into a dirty word in the beginning she didn’t know how to ask for help and she didn’t know how to say when something bothered her to ask for change. The book described her as being the two extremes and kind of stereotype typical situations. Therefore the book is somewhat dated even for 2007. The positive that came out of it was thinking about what it means to be assertive, ask her what you need/want while taking into consideration other people. You can ask for the same things, but do it in a way that’s not defensive or shouting and get them much more readily you don’t have to be responsible for the world when someone does something that creates more work you can ask them to do something about it. Like a natural consequence.

read The Right Chord yesterday - and thoroughly enjoyed it. You have a wonderful style - easy, relaxed, but flexible enough to hit the heights when you need to. Brava!

Anna Campbell --Avon Historical Romance author

THE RIGHT CHORD is a lovely, romantic novel. The characters felt real and personable. The plot was easy to identify with. I could feel the attraction that was building between Grace and Harry. Their conversations captured the emotions of the moment perfectly. There is nothing I would change about this story as it was the perfect length and was delightful throughout. Elizabeth Rose is a talented author who wrote an enchanting story that is hard to put down. I highly recommend THE RIGHT CHORD as it is one of the most sweetest stories I have ever read.

"The Right Chord". I usually
don't write fan letters, but this book was so good that I had to write
to E.R. and tell her that I am a real fan and eagerly await her next
novel, and many more after that!

This book... was not good for me. I couldn't connect w/ Grace, the main character, or Harry, her love interest. The "misunderstandings" they had were silly and only to forced tension and were very exasperating to me as a reader. If they had acted and communicated like adults, there would have been no story. And they both ran so hot and cold toward each other that I simply lost interest in having them get together. The supporting characters were caricatures and 1 dimensional. And the ending was so trite and forced and rushed that I was disgusted at myself for finishing. This is one book that I wish I had DNF and saved myself the time of reading.

As a lover of books with cheesy titles, I knew this book was right up my alley. With an interesting plot line that mixed love and tragedy in a way that was sweet, but yet quite predictable. THE RIGHT CHORD is a semi-pornographic romance novel that focuses on love more than most romantic novels. I would suggest this to a pre-teen who is interested in love and sex, and wants to read about it. I would do so because as far as romance novels go, THE RIGHT CHORD is innocent and highlights more emotions versus the typical sexual intensity demonstrated in romance novels.

Sweet. But I think the author just missed the oportunity for an epilogue.
The story is amazing and lovely and the characters very well developed.
