When Love Won't Wait

Rate this book
Pastor Dan has two unfortunate problems: uncontrollable impulsiveness and an unrealistic understanding of the biblical command to honor a parent. Going against domineering widowed Mama Ruby’s wishes is unthinkable.

Totally impatient with Dan’s impetuosity, she plans to choose his bride rather than let him marry someone inappropriate.

Mama Ruby convinced him that continuing the family’s generations-long tradition of a man in the ministry was God’s will. It’s taken years of misery for him to recognize that his mother’s idea has never been God’s.

But what can he do about it? He wishes the commandment to honor his mother had a time limit on it.

Dan has fallen in love, but not with the woman Mama Ruby has been unsuccessfully pushing in his direction. Can he trick his mother into choosing the woman he loves instead?

The humorous twists and turns will keep you laughing and cheering all the way to the end.

About the author

Roger E. Bruner

32 books25 followers
Former English teacher, job counselor/interviewer, and programmer/analyst. Retired at 62 to write full-time.

Roger can't decide which genre he prefers. He's written speculative fiction, contemporary women's fiction, and novels for teens. His current interest is fiction for and about senior adults. All of his twenty-four novels are Christian, however, and are free from objectionable language, sexual content, and gratuitous violence.

Roger plays bass on his church praise team and guitar at a weekly nursing home ministry. He has also been on mission trips to Australia, England, Wales, Romania, and Nicaragua.

At 78 he's still in pretty good health, but stays home a lot more than he used to. He enjoys reading, walking, photography, writing music and recording his own songs at home, and playing Quidler with his delightful wife, Kathleen.

This is the first time I have read one of Roger Bruner's books but not the last The main character in the book is Pastor Daniel Updike who is constantly getting in trouble with his Elders (or Deacons) Board and the woman who is in love with him and keeps trying to help him only to cause him big time trouble. This is far from a boy meets girl and falls in love book. It kept me turning pages to find out what was going to happen to poor Dan next. I really liked this book and I recommend it to anyone looking for an entertaining read.
