I can’t believe I am rating a book one star!

Oh boy is the editing a little rough in spots. I’m new to instant Pot cooking. I need/want clear direct instructions. Example pg 32 “pin the foil with the help of the toothpick and insert in the instant Pot”. What toothpick? There was no prior mention of a toothpick. It just magically appeared in the middle of this recipe. And by the way I googled “ can you use a toothpick in an instant pot” and apparently nobody has ever asked that question before nor were there any discussions about it. (That I could find).

I have quite the collection of cookbooks. Shelves dedicated to them. I could say with complete certainty at least 90% of them have introductory chapters before the recipes. They tell you what equipment you could use to make the forthcoming recipes. And they also tell you a little bit about said equipment. There was none of that in this book. Random pieces of equipment will show up in the middle of the directions for a recipe. Suddenly you have to spray the pancake molds with cooking spray. What pancake molds? What pancake molds do you recommend? What pancake molds are safe to use inside of an instant pot?

There were some ingredients I was like what in the actual heck is that? This book doesn’t tell you anything about these random strange ingredients. Again other cookbooks will have a little box off to the side telling you what the item is, what it tastes like, where to find it etc. etc.

Also, true vegans do not use honey, they use agave. No mention in this book about alternatives to honey which I saw pop up in several recipes.

Non-dairy milk. Most cookbooks I have will tell you what substitutes will work for certain ingredients. This book appears to be married to one kind of milk only for each recipe. If I were to make all the recipes in this book that included non-dairy milk I would have every kind imaginable opened in my refrigerator at once.

I am honestly scared to try some of these recipes. Not that they will taste bad but truly worried that the instant pot will explode.

I’ve never read a cookbook like this. I’m flabbergasted.

Lots of variety

Lots of variety and unusual recipes.
Some trouble with a few of the pages in the ebook. Some pages are turned upside down and a few come up with a black and empty page making the recipe unable to read. Most are fine, just disappointing not to be able to access those few.

This book turned out to not be vegan (I saw several recipes using gelatin, which is pork/meat based), and the recipes were repetitive and often complicated, using ingredients that are impossible to find anywhere but in a specialty market. When I looked on Amazon to post a review, the item had been removed from their catalog.

This is one of my favorite cookbooks. Easy quick meals, with not too many ingredients. No pictures, but I dont' mind that. I don't find the ingredients hard to find. Simple, tasty meals. Occasionally find it confusing to follow the directions, but cook from this several times a week, just love it.
