I picked up this book at a discount overstock-type store when I was embarking on a new fitness and health plan. It has a easy-to-read, non-preachy style with lots of helpful hints and testimonials for making permanent lifestyle changes. It does not contain recipes, nor does it push any ridiculous fad diets. Instead of gives an overview of the most common of the different weight loss plans and the pros and cons of each. The reader is left to decide which plan will work best for him or her.

It also focused a great deal on the psychological and emotional aspects of weight and how to overcome negative thought patterns that hinder weight loss efforts. I would recommend this book to anyone interested in taking steps to live healthier over the course of a lifetime.
