Faerune is running out of time. With the threat of the Dreilore nipping at their heels, our unlikely companions have only one to move forward with Alluin’s mad plan to overthrow the Empire. The emperor must be killed, and the Dreilore defeated, but first Isara Saredoth must be located. She’s the only rational choice for empress, someone both humans and elves alike can support. Elmerah, Alluin, and Saida will brave the Akkeri temples to find their empress, but Isara may not be exactly what they expected. In fact, some think her quite mad. Everyone knows that sane people don’t believe in demons. That’s what Elmerah used to think, but after facing off with the emperor on more than one occasion, she’s beginning to have her doubts. In this second installment of The Moonstone Chronicles, our heroes will learn just what it means to truly sacrifice for a cause, just as they will learn that words like family, and loyalty, have very little to do with blood.

Holy BEJEEZUS. A strong female lead that is not a damsel? There is so few of those that I am enjoying this so much. I wish there were more like these, unless I just haven’t come across them. There isn’t one character in this story that I am not dying to know more of. If Alluin and Elmerah aren’t a couple at the end of this series, I’m going to riot. I could go without romance but with two badasses like these, I can deal. Please let Merwyn live and be cared for. He’s amazing.
This is getting good. We see they got dealt a good blow but how else is the story supposed to have that wow factor. Elmerah is so insane that I actually can’t wait to find out what happens to her next. We see people from the character’s past and see how the factor in the present. Some are good and some turned the war into the Emperor’s favor. This is definitely getting good. I can’t wait for the next book.
Love, love, love Elmerah. What a witch! Not to lessen Saida and Alluin 'a rolls. An unlikely Three Musketeers, but warriors none the less. If you like daemons, magic and unending adventures this series is for you. I'm going to miss this series until the next book.
The first book in the Moonstone Chronicles was great, but this 2nd book is really awesome, it is a fast paced epic adventure, on which we follow Elmerah, Alluin and Saida through extreme danger in their bid to save Faerune, the crystal city of the elves. They have first to persuade the High Council of the Faerune elves to ally with the Valeroot elves and with their greatest enemy, the Althari against the Emperor who they still consider to be their ally. Saida has furthermore to return to her family after taking off without giving them warning, and to return in the company of Alluin, a Valeroot elf, and Elmerah an Althari Witch. They have found out that Emperor Egrin is aligning himself with the Nokken and the Dreilor and that he is a demon, seeking to steal all kinds of magical powers for himself and hence become unstoppable. They are also seeking to find Lsara, who they want to put in the place of Egrin but she is a scholar and considered by many to be crazy. Rissine and Celen and even Merwyn come to their aid however a traitor is in their midst and Faerune is about to be lost to the Dreilore who are working for Egrin. Phew a real exciting and tense action filled book, which escalates towards the end in the battle to save the crystal city of the elves. Looking forward to book 3 where I guess Elmerah will still have to figure out how to kill a demon with help only from an elf, a naive priestess, and a fluff headed scholar with demon blood running through her veins but then Elmerah was used to working with no help at all so she was hopeful still and I am hopeful too maybe the next book will see the end of Egrin, the Demon Emperor of the Ulrian Empire.
So it's rare for me to give a book a 5 but I can't really find anything wrong with this read at all. There was action, there was drama and there was of course the build up from start to finish. We have got to see Elmerah grow as a character in a good way and more of the tribes are coming together. The plot has thickened with the rat in the midst of everything and now it seems like there will actually be a fair fight. I think the author does a good job of creating a story that is a page turner and keeps your attention. I have read another series of hers and it was just as good. I will admit the first book was kind of hard to get through but this one was not like that at all. Definitely recommend this series.
This was even better than the first, but I'm not surprised. Sara's biggest strength is her ability to make her characters increasingly more interesting as the series unfolds, and that talent is on full display here. Sometimes when you read books with a revolving POV, you get to a certain character's chapter and find yourself trudging through it, waiting for it to be over, but not so with Sara's characters. They're all fun, and their stories move each other's along.
Side note: I hope we get to see more of Merwyn in the next book(s). I enjoyed his unexpected friendship with Saida.
I wish there was something in the beginning that provided a brief recap to link this book with the previous one in the series. I read a lot and have a good memory but it had been a while since I read the first book and, while I recognized enough to know that characters were familiar, I couldn't remember WHY they were familiar. Eventually, I figured out who everyone was but I never did fully remember why the Empire formed an alliance with the Dreilore and the Akkeri. I am off to read the next book immediately while events are still fresh in my mind.
I have read four books into this series so far so I will do a quick review of those together. Honestly, I have had a great time listening and reading this series. I do wish the last three books had audible editions but even so, reading them is going to be enjoyable anyway.
I am curious to see where it leads and I kind of love that it made it seem like one character was the big bad but really, he was almost what I would consider a distraction from the real shit storm coming. Time will tell but I am definitely interested to see where this goes next in book 5!!
Now that means that CrAzy Demon Egrin will just seek her out even more. And we can be sure that Malon the Traitor Will be right there with Egrin by his side. And I really wish that I didn't have to wait. BUT isn't that the way of anything GREAT ANYMORE..🐸💜🌻
Elmerah, Alluin and Saida journey toward Faerune in hopes of warning them about the coming attack and in hopes of finding Isara. Rissine has gone in search of other Arthali wirches. Along the way, they meet old acquaintances and new, friend and foe before coming together to try and help the elves.
An Exciting series, a real page turner!!! I can’t wait for the next Book!!! Exciting, Wonderful Characters and I Love how they all work together!!! LOVE LOVE LOVE
I thoroughly enjoyed this second instalment of this series. Fast passed and exciting. The characters are gripping, making you really want to follow their stories. Biggest disappointment is that the next book isn't due out till the end of the year! But have already pre-ordered.
I read this book in one day. I couldn’t put it down. It has plenty of action drama betrayal and paranormal events. We meet new characters and we still love the old ones. I can’t wait to read the next book in the series.
The tale continues and gets deeper into your very being with each turn of the page. The fast paced action and adventure is great. The characters are awesome and easy to identify with. I really like this book and I highly recommend it.
This is a truly wonderful series so far. The main characters are really well written and the bad guys are really bad. There is lots of action and plenty of snark.
I've enjoyed this book very much. I love the banter between the main characters, the comradery, and the willingness to come together for the greater good of all people. Now on to the next book
