Wow. This book is fantastic! I had absolutely no idea when I started reading that I'd be taken on this journey. The writing is great and told in a really cool way--through a mixture of present day events and flashbacks. We see Lee, our main character, and how he fell down the rabbit hole of having an affair. Lee is NOT a good person. Let me just say that. Once you realize that, and accept it, then the book just becomes fun. It's like a puzzle that you're trying to figure out. Lee's internal dialogue is so freaking hilarious that I literally LOL'd a few times. The tale weaves its way down a winding path so beautifully that, before you know it, you're at this bizarre place in the story where every character is not who you thought they were! The dedication at the end...my god...it's amazing! I really enjoyed this book. I'm not sure how to categorize it--a thriller or just good fiction? Regardless, I highly recommend it! I didn't want to put it down!

The Adulter's Handbook is book one of a series, and the ending is a cliff-hanger rather than a resolution. Lee thinks he has taken every precaution to ensure his wife, Tamsin, will never learn about his affair with his co-worker, Sophia. He did his research, so he knows the mistakes most people make in these situations and he makes a list of rules. Sophia has agreed to the rules so it seems he has done everything he could. However, he forgets one important point: he cannot control what Sophia does, only what he does. And even what he does is problematic, including a text meant for Sophia that he accidently sends to Tamsin. There is a lot of sex talk, but we do not have the sort of blow by blow, so to speak, one sometimes sees in a book like this. Rather, we hear about their encounters after the fact, sometimes in a humorous mode. The author writes the story in a skillful way, and it held my interest despite the fact that neither the main character nor anyone around him were sympathetic characters. If you enjoy a taut thriller, this is a great choice!

Adultery entertainment

As a member of the Writers Book Club on Twitter, I’m required to read a book or story each month.

It’s a bit of fun, and apart from providing sales and reviews for struggling authors, it gives me a chance to read things I normally wouldn’t.

Author Ash Fitzsimmons maintains a spreadsheet on Google Docs, and members choose an author and then a title, promising to read and review.

I have a Kindle Unlimited subscription, so I choose titles available on KU, and it doesn’t cost me anything extra.

For November I picked a title that looked interesting: The Adulterer’s Handbook by Sam Anthony, first of a series which appears polished and professional.

Adultery is a theme which comes with two built-in attractions for writers (and readers). Sex and tension. As an erotica fan, I always like to see how others handle this sometimes difficult subject. Does it excite without being too crude? Is it easy to keep track of the action? What new words for the interesting bits are employed? Is it straight into the good stuff, or is there some teasing and buildup going on?

Sex is always fascinating; it represents interaction between characters, and even if the writer doesn’t describe what’s going on in clinical detail, there’s always the fun and tension and two personalities to rub up against each other. And the chance for conflict, the unfailing foundation of a good story.

Add in the need to conceal what’s going on from the uninvolved partners, and the tension ramps up. Most marriages, particularly if they involve children, represent a significant investment in emotion, finance, and time. If your marriage goes south, it’s hard to see it as anything other than a disaster. Families are divided, friends take sides, the lawyers jump in for their fat share of the proceeds, the children are thrown into an emotional whirlpool…

The participants in an affair are torn. On one hand, they are doing something incredibly exciting, something which leaves its own traces on the soul. You ever see someone in the first stages of a hot love affair? They glow.

On the other hand, everything needs to be kept super-secret from the spouse(s), lest they file for divorce, or worse, come after you with a big sharp knife and start removing your anatomy.

So a handbook on how to do the thing is always a handy guide, right? You research the topic on the internet, and if you don’t remove your search history from a shared computer, you could be sunk before you start.

Well, this book is and isn’t. There’s a whole bunch of rules outlined, and a lot of practical advice, mostly in the form of “avoid this massive error committed by the hapless protagonist”. But it’s also fiction, and a fabulous story.

Sam Anthony balances sex, secrecy, betrayal and bastardy over the course of the novel. It’s tightly written, with every page pushing the plot along, and a lot of the action is happening inside the head of the main character. The reader shares in the choices, weighing options that need to be decided in a hurry.

I was literally on the edge of my seat as Lee, the main character, navigated the rapids of the affair. Consumed by passion on a regular basis, equally regularly he’d make some horrific mistake and have to think up an explanation. Usually with a chapter intervening before the poor reader got to find out what happened. Thanks, Sam, for the deliberately choppy way you provide several different time streams in the early part of the book.

Without giving too much away, the affair ignites, blazes, and is extinguished. There is tension all the way along, with intervals of relief, such as the married couple heading off on holiday, where we get to see the bones of that relationship.

There is a climax, a twist at the end, and an unresolved plot strand or two that has sent me scurrying into the next book in the series to see what happens.

The writing is beautifully controlled. Not a spelling error or a grammar lapse in the whole thing. Each character is an individual, with their own personalities, flaws and strengths.

We spend most of the time in the head of Lee, one of the (three) husbands in what turns out to be an “It’s Complicated” sort of way, and I love the way that author Sam contrasted Lee’s largely positive inner view with the perceptions of the other characters. Some positive, some not so much.

Much like real life.

In real life, men don’t have a huge amount of emotional intelligence, I find. Keeping an affair a secret from co-workers in a mixed environment is a lot harder than we are led to believe here. Women notice the details, the glances, the smiles, the smells of perfume and arousal. They gossip. Everyone gossips, but where men might talk about football and cars, women pull personalities and relationships apart to chew on the interesting stuff.

So I found the notion that the office didn’t know what was going on, especially when the two went missing every Friday lunch hour, a little hard to swallow.

The twist at the end wasn’t that hard to see. We’re given perhaps a few too many hints along the way. Very clever, some of them, and they all add up in hindsight, but they tended to channel supposition along a certain line. Enough doubt that I kept on reading to see what would happen and whether anyone would meet a grisly end – Lee, it must be said, worries entirely too much about his testicles being neatly done away with a swipe of a kitchen knife – and as the secrets came spilling out I found that Lee and I had both been misled.

At least one of Lee’s choices turned out to be lamentably wrong, and the psychological torture as he realises his mistake is excruciating.

I enjoyed The Adulterer’s Handbook. Tension and drama all the way through, an arresting climax, and a resolution that paves the way for the next in the series. Once I had been drawn into the affair, what kept me going was to find out what happened next.

Well written, well plotted, well worth my time.

What an enthralling read. I couldn’t put the book down for a second. Loved the way the author explored the characters hin the book and I enjoyed being able to relate to them. I would highly recommend this book to anyone looking for a gripping psychological thriller with plenty of twists and turns and am looking forward to the next book.

I like being part of a monthly book group because it gives me a break from reading horror. Horror is mostly my main reading genre, so it shouldn't be a shock that I chose a book for this month that starts with what could be a possible murder. That's exactly how the story starts. Written in first person, the main character is debating whether or not save his mistress or watch her die. So let's say its a possible indirect murder. Then the story goes backwards, leaving the readers hanging as to whether or not he saves his lover.
As with most first person written books, I found the main character to be whiny. "I love my wife, why did I have an affair?" etc... I'm paraphrasing, but I feel like that's the whole first half of the book. I almost got tired of reading him complain. I did not like the main character.
However, I loved how the author had me turning pages, curious as to how the possible murder mentioned in the first chapter would play out.
The style of this book was fun. Chapters were broken down into smaller, more fun to read, sections.
The more I read, the more I like the actual story. I didn't attach to any characters, but for me that's not necessary to enjoy a story.
There was a twist. That's all I should say, but I will also say that I saw it coming early on in the book.
I like the hook in the blurb about how anyone who wants to have an affair should read this book. I for one would NEVER have an affair and told my hubby that I was reading this book but only for entertainment. Not as a cheat sheet.
Overall, this was a fun read

I wasn't sure I was going to like this book as it really is the story of a man who sets out to have an affair with a co-worker and actually researches how to keep it a secret and draws up a list of 14 "rules" for him and girlfriend, Sophia. And it works pretty well for him as his wife, Tasmin--whom he claims is the love of his life--seems to buy all of his lies and is only occasionally suspicious; he covers his tracks well and it isn't until Sophia becomes obsessed with him that he begins to question his choices. But a surprising discovery at the end is shocking and throws him--as well as the reader--for a loop! So you will find yourself compelled to read the second in the series!

This book is crazy funny, realistic and dark all at the same time. I really loved the writing style, made it very easy to read. Meet Lee, happily married 45 year old with two kids, hello mid life crisis! Even though he loves his family, he can't resist the attention from the office hottie Sophia. He writes a set of rules so they can both have a casual no-strings attached affair, after all it's only sex, or is it? There are twists and turns a plenty. Some graphic sex scenes and warning over crude language, if you are easily offended or often check your partners mobile, then I'd give this a miss unless you want some tips in which case, read away.
Well done Sam, highly recommended!

Sexy, witty, and entertaining! A must read!

I enjoyed this book so much! Sam Anthony’s The Adulterer’s Handbook is sexy, witty and thoroughly entertaining. From page one I was hooked on Anthony’s clean, engaging style. The characters are so real and relatable. The story takes some thrilling, unexpected twists and ends with the mother of all cliffhangers. I’m highly anticipating the sequel! Do yourself a favor and read this one.

I loved this book.
I instantly built up a good mental picture of the key characters which is the sign for me of a compelling read.
I wouldn’t say I ‘liked’ any of them but they were well developed.
Lee is funny, so whilst clearly an idiot and not a good person it is hard not to warm to him and his attempts at self preservation and justification for his behaviour.

The story is really well told and the writing style is fluid and easy to read.
There are regular pulls leaving you compelled to read on; I completed the whole book over 2 days which is very quick for me with limited time to read.

I echo other reviews in that the end is brilliant, I had no inkling at any point but in thinking it all through now that I have finished it is very clever.

I very much look forward to book 2.

Wow! I’m speechless. This review will be hard to write without spoilers but I will try my best. I’m dying to tell all. You guys just have to read this! It has really messed with my mind. A person will think twice before cheating on spouse after reading this book. It reminds me of the movie Fatal Attraction but so original in itself. And the ending will blow your mind! I wasn’t expecting that at all. There were so many accumulating twists and bombs dropped.

Lee loves his wife Tamsin. He has always been in love with her and adores his two children. They are both very devoted parents. But she doesn’t participate in extracurricular activities in the bedroom as often as Lee would like. She doesn’t participate very often at all. Except on vacation where she is insatiable. Sofia is a gorgeous coworker of Lee’s with a bubbly personality. She starts flirting and making advances towards Lee. One thing leads to another and, after making a long list of rules, Lee gives in and has an affair with her. He can’t help but always picture it being his wife he’s with during these times. Things couldn’t be better for him and Sofia. After all, she gets no attention at all from her husband Joe. He’s too busy staying on the golf course. But Sofia seems to be breaking one of the rules: don’t fall in love. She gets more and more obsessed.

So much goes on. Things are done to twist and bend the rules. Really bad things. Things I would’ve never dreamed of. This author has a really twisted mind lol. Think Stephen King writing a psychological romance thriller. So if you read the title and excerpt and think how you don’t like to read books with cheating, think again. There’s so much to each of these characters. I loved how the author only had a handful of characters but packed so much info in the story. It was so easy to keep straight. I wasn’t crazy about Tamsin at all. If I were Lee, I would’ve cheated on her too! I like she was written this way. I couldn’t help but love Sofia’s free spirit personality. She just wanted to be loved. I started rooting for her and Lee. I know that’s wrong but hey, I can’t help it. And I know Lee’s mother only had a small mention, but I didn’t miss how wise she was lol. How clever of you Sam! This made the whole book!

Given the title, The Adulterer’s Handbook, is not exactly what you’d expect. Yes, it details the extra-marital affair between Lee Bolton and his married coworker, Sophia Miller, but it’s also a fun, well written, and finally a heart-pounding reading experience.

None of the characters are particularly likeable, not even Lee, through whose point of view the story is told. That limited POV, allows us as readers to separate ourselves from the action of the novel, and laugh from afar at the self-centered, overly confident, mechanical approach Lee takes to make sure his wife, Tamsin, will never find out about the affair. He seems to evaluate all relationships by how much sex is involved. That may be something of a “guy thing” but here it’s another reason to dislike the protagonist.

Lee seems to be manipulating both his wife and his lover through the whole novel, but we learn eventually that it’s the other way around. The plot turns from sexy and comical to something much darker. The prologue warns us that this playful, humorous tale will soon provide the adrenaline rush of a mystery/thriller as the walls start closing in on Lee.

There is an interesting twist at the end, which I had already anticipated. What I didn’t anticipate was the depth of the deception carried out by characters whom I won’t name here.

The ending was too abrupt and a bit too vague for me. I understand that Anthony is setting us up for the sequel—there are several books in the series—but I would have preferred something a little less ambiguous.

That said, The Adulterer’s Handbook has a lot to offer, and I don’t hesitate to recommend it.

Review The Adulterer’s Handbook
By Sam Anthony

As the title suggests, this book is about an adulterer, albeit a reluctant one at the outset. Lee Bolton considers himself a happily married man, blessed with two children and a wife any man would be proud of. But, he hasn’t bargained for Sophia’s unabashed attention and is easily led astray. Only when his deception is in danger of being exposed does he panic and things start to spiral out of control.
I was drawn to this novel because I was interested to see how the author handled the subject of infidelity, purely from a male perspective. He’s done an excellent job, exemplifying the metaphor of Venus and Mars i.e. the psychological differences between the sexes. Despite the protagonist’s obvious flaws, I couldn’t help but feel a tad sorry for Lee who, in all honesty, doesn’t deserve any sympathy. With the best will in the world, he wants to remain faithful to his wife, but can’t help himself when faced with the temptation. His rationalisation brought a smile to my face, the humour and author’s style reminiscent of David Nicholls, whose books I love. There were places in the story that required a stretch of my imagination to give Sophia’s character credence, but to expand on this would give too much away. I had already worked out a crucial part of the plot, or so I thought, but the twist came as a surprise. I found the ending to be a little abrupt. However, it appears there is a sequel on the way, particularly as we’re left with a cliff-hanger.
There is much to admire in this entertaining read. The dialogue is natural, the editing is well done and the narrative flows. All in all, a good debut novel and I feel sure we’ll see more from this promising new writer. I recommend you give it a try.

[Note of disclosure: I received this copy for free by the author for review purposes, but I will be as neutral in my review as possible.]

[Spoiler alert! Spoilers will appear in this review!]

Sam Anthony's book The Adulterer's Handbook is a story of deceit, romance and shitty people, but it was an interesting book nonetheless.

The first thing you must know before reading this book is that the main character, Lee Bolton, is not, and will never become a good man. Even though he's happily married, he still decides to walk down the path of adultery, and it's not until his life is close to falling apart that he tries to get away from it. He is a selfish, albeit describes himself as kind, person who mostly cares about himself.

Does this make the book bad however? No, definitely not, but it is when you realize this and accepts that Lee is a shitty person that the book truly becomes enjoyable to read.

When I read this book I was reminded, in a way of two other works I've read, one is a manga series called Kuzu no Honkai (Scum's Wish), and the other Lolita (yes, THAT Lolita, I swear it's not in a negative light!). It reminded me about Kuzu no Honkai in the way that almost all characters (with a few exceptions) are kind of shitty people, or at the very least most of the named characters. This, you won't realize later in the book however, unlike Kuzu no Honkai. It reminded me of Lolita in the way that throughout the book we get to follow the thought process of someone society would consider "scum", although the main character of Lolita is million times worse than Lee, I still found this little comparison.

However, the main complaint I have about the story is the sudden switch the tone gets about 2/3rds through the book, when it's revealed that Sophia "loved Lee all along". I did not think the foreshadowing of this was clear enough, it could've been better to drop a few more hints before it. The other big plot twist in the end, however, was a lot better foreshadowed in my opinion.

The characters in the book are well written and have well-defined motivations (most of which you won't get to know until later though), especially Lee. As we get to follow Lee and how he thinks in different situations, we also get to know him better, and sometimes we also can get a little laugh out of it, as some monologue can be pretty funny.

In the first 1/3rd of the book there are a lot of time switches between the time the story takes place in, as well as when the affair started, a few months earlier. These "time jumps" can be a bit confusing at times. They make great storytelling, but the switch happens too often and sometimes the switch isn't clear enough in my opinion.

A last comment I have would be how at times it feels like Lee talks about anything, everything, and at the same time nothing at all. He can randomly start talking about football or something more or less irrelevant to the plot at that moment. I, personally, do not mind these sections, and rather find them entertaining. However, I can see other people disliking it.

Overall, however, it was a great read, with intrigue, comedy, nail biters and shitty people.

I give this book an 8/10.

HIGHLY RECOMMEND this FUN read!

Wow! I GREATLY ENJOYED reading The Adulterer's Handbook. This was a funny, engaging, fascinating, exhilarating, and altogether heartbreaking novel!

Sam Anthony is an AMAZING storyteller! It takes a ton of talent for an author to create a main character like Lee who does such despicable things and makes such terrible choices -- as justified as they may or may not be -- and make him into someone likeable who you want to root for and hope things will work out for him in the end. I really felt for the Lee and wanted him to find happiness.

The Adulterer's Handbook is extremely well written! It has mystery and intrigue, with a large does of humor mixed in, and I don't think I found a single typo. The characters are well fleshed out, and each of their motivations, as misguided as they may be, are crystal clear. I loved the shocking twists, but I feel so bad for Lee.

I am beyond excited to start reading Book 2, The Adulterer's Confession, and see where Lee's story goes from here!

VERY WELL DONE! 😃 Highly recommend!

When this book stumbled into my inbox from Voracious Readers Only, I figured I was getting a wild, lusty ride. Lee and Sophia would agree to have an affair and then spend the majority of the novel praising the Adultery Gods by indulging in endless acts of carnal pleasure. While this was, in many ways true, I was also pleasantly surprised to find out that this was funny; not just chuckle quietly at a momentary quip, but laugh out loud, shake my head funny. Because Lee, is a complete idiot, and it’s just so perfect.

Don’t get me wrong, Lee isn’t a good man. In fact, I found the majority of the characters in this book are rather awful – they’re generally selfish, two-faced, and seem to have a grudge against making moral life choices, but wow, are they entertaining to read about. It didn’t even matter that I couldn’t sympathize or relate to anyone because I had so much fun wondering how much more gasoline Lee could pour on his affair-turned-trash-pile-fire. Turns out, quite a bit.

Fun read, engaging premise, and a great plot twists. Definitely recommended and will be reading the next installment.

Thanks to VoraciousReadersOnly for a copy of this book.

I have to be honest here. I didn't think I would like this book. At all. I don't like reading about infidelity, and I don't even know how I managed to get my hands on this book, but I don't regret reading it one bit.

As a character, Lee is absolutely hilarious. He keeps trying to come up with excuses for why he's cheating on his wife, whom he's head over heels in love with, but always returns to the simple reason that he's not a good man. His wife's not at all interested in being intimate with him, while he keeps trying to ask her for sex. I did feel bad for him a couple of times when his wife shot him down with barely veiled excuses like she feels a headache coming on or the chores are not done yet, etc. I honestly just thought that the wife was either asexual or a lesbian. I would have been deeply amused if that had been the plot twist.

Speaking of the plot twist...

Oh, God. I did NOT see that coming. At all. I laughed so hard at the climax; my stomach actually hurt because of how hard I was laughing. Man, that was hilarious. I loved it! I was expecting something else, something more dramatic, but no. It was a simple Christmas present that changed everything. The ending was even more brilliant than I could have imagined.

I'll definitely be reading the next book in the series.

I want so badly to give this five stars. This book absolutely captivated me. I read it in a day, I just couldn't put it down. Any free time I had, I was reading. It's that good.

The author's writing style was so interesting. First person (apart from flashbacks), present tense, several digressions... That's really hard to make work, but the author nails it. I want to stress that. Sam Anthony is incredibly talented.

However... I just can't. The ending lets it down. I know it's meant to be a cliffhanger, but I just didn't find it to be a satisfying cliffhanger. It felt like the end of a chapter rather than the end of a book, even with the epilogue. I needed some form of closure, and was left frustrated. My husband heard me squawk "That's it?!?" as I finally came to the end.

Maybe my opinion will change after I read the sequel, but for now, as much as it pains me, I have to leave only four stars.

That said, I'm absolutely going to buy the sequel.

Hilariously funny in places, fast paced from the beginning, the Adulterer's handbook draws you into this thrilling and heartbreaking story from the beginning. The suspense is a killer.

Witty and beautifully written, the author has done a fantastic job because you actually end up right there with the adulterer. Watch them and share their thoughts as they idealise, realise and face the consequences of their actions. Ride the waves of excitement, elation and ultimately betrayal and heartbreak. And then the twist in the storyline is just perfect. And when you reach the end of the book there are two more novels as the adulterer lives with their subsequent actions.

I really couldn't criticise this book at all. The storyline is imaginative, the narrative styles builds up the suspense needed to keep you captivated and the characters are well fleshed out as you get to know them. A real cracker.

I received this book from the author via Voracious Readers Only for the pleasure of reading and leaving an honest review. You won't be wasting your money here.

It's rare to find a novel that's thrilling, sexy, *and* laugh-out-loud funny, but this book checks all the boxes! I devoured it in one day.

The narrator comes off as quite the misogynist, and this book is full of explicit sexual content, so if either of those things are deal breakers, I say skip this one.

If you're game for anything, this book is a fun little thrill ride as the main character falls deeper and deeper into an affair at work. He's an over-analyzer devising strict rules of engagement, and often plays out worst-case scenarios in his head as he considers whether to tell his wife. He nearly gets caught countless times, and ultimately gets in over his head.

I won't give it 5 stars because there were a few situations that didn't quite add up to me, but overall I really enjoyed this one. I received a complimentary copy from the author via Voracious Readers Only.

So I read about the first few chapters in Sam's previous novel and I must say I was not that interested to pick it up as the start was too slow for my liking. If you're reading this book in the hope of descriptive explicit sex scenes please don't bother. If however you are looking for mystery, suspense and a plot twist like none other, this book will keep you on the edge of your seat. The interesting thing about this plot is that the protagonists /characters in this novel could be anyone even your next door neighbour. It's realistic but at the same time can hold your attention. In some places I did feel the story was dragging on but for the most part I was able to read it without losing interest. Definitely recommend it if suspense is your thing if however you prefer explicit sex scenes you're better off reading a romance novel.

The Adulterer’s Handbook by Sam Anthony
This story moved very quickly between Lee’s love for his wife and lust for an office worker, but at times was unclear in the beginning if I was reading Lee’s Fantasy to become an adulterer or if it was actually happening. As the story progressed it became very erotic and lots of sexy scenes, so if this the type of page turner you are looking for, then this is the series for you. It definitely held my attention and included the element of surprise with many unexpected turns. I will definitely be looking for the next book. I received a complimentary copy of this book from the Author via Voracious Readers. JKSlovestoread/JudyKU/LuvsKU/Judy Samson This was my honest review and I hope it was helpful.

I don’t know what made me download this book but I’m glad I did. Lee is married to Tamsin... he’s having an affair with Sophia, a colleague from work. It seems he wishes for a more active sex life with his wife and she just doesn’t seem to be in agreement. Enter Sophia and the wild, wild affaIr ensues.
This story is told from the man’s point of view and how he perseveres to prevent his wife from learning about the affair. His set of ground rules which are fabricated to ensure no one finds out about the affair is presented to Sophia. I don’t want to give too much away because you have to read this and when you get to the ending you’re going to sit there with your mouth hanging open. Throughout the book there are indications that all is not as it should be but, one must try not to second-guess what you are reading.
The sequel, The Adulterers Confession will be released in October and, I for one cannot wait.

I received this novel as a free copy from the author's newsletter, but my opinion is my own.

I read book 2 before this one, purely due to the fact that I had received a free copy of it and it seemed interesting. It was interesting, but book 2 is written very differently from this one, and if it had've been written in this format I would have adored it.

This book has very You vibes (the book, not the Netflix series - they're quite different). The narrator comes across as a dumpy doormat of a husband, boring and sniveling. In fact, the character is portrayed very convincingly, to the point where at points I found myself rolling my eyes - but nonetheless hooked (a mark of an excellent author, I rather think). The ending was 50/50 on prediction, and I rather enjoyed the twist. While some of it I saw coming, I definitely didn't see the rest coming, despite having the advantage of book 2 (again, I think this is due to the format it was written in).

This is an excellent book. It's compelling, it's salacious, and the psychology of it is spellbinding. I found myself sitting up into the wee hours of the night because I just had to know what happened next. I may give the second book another shot now that I have more of a foundation, if only so I can move on to book three!

Highly entertaining read and an easy pick up book. The writing flowed well and easily and the OMG moments held back till close to the end.

The main character was at times irritating and perhaps not an altogether flattering view of the male gender but the events that happened seemed to be just desserts.

The title is not something I would naturally gravitate to but I was intrigued so gave it a go. If you’re looking for classical literature this is not for you but if you want to disappear into a book for a few hours then pick this up and live vicariously through someone else!

There were enough hooks at the end for me to want to read what happens next.

Just finished reading "An Adulterers Handbook", and gosh, what a read it was! Totally unexpected ending and the twists hit you right in the face. I couldn't put it down once I started.

The best part about the book is the characters. They are flawed, selfish and can't stop thinking about themselves - much like people in real life. The writing was funny and well-done, with cliffhangers thrown in generously at the end of each chapter.

While I wouldn't call the book as a 'thriller' the twists are impeccably done. If you haven't read this Indie Book yet, I recommend it 5/5

I thought my hackles might rise reading this book - there is no excuse for adultery, is there? - but I thoroughly enjoyed it. The characters are all very real and it was a smooth read, so no grammar or editorial glitches to spoil the flow. Sam Anthony gets into the heads of his characters, both male and female, very convincingly and hits some squirmingly accurate observations of human behaviour. I thought I knew where the story was going, but it took a much more powerful direction than I was anticipating. A great read.

Stunning and surprising

In this tale of adultery and seduction, this story has shocking twists and turns. Lee is our adulterer and while hes hesitant at first, sophia really seems to enjoy him and what he can do in the bedroom. Meanwhile, at home his wife, who he adores, barely touches him or wants to discuss anything sex related.

Lee embarks on a journey, from adulterer to something more, as he discovers things about himself and those around him that he didnt know. The author does a wonderful job of depicting his inner monologue and turmoil!

Twisted and convoluted psychological tale with a side of erotic mayhem

This one takes the reader on quite the engrossing, well crafted, convoluted journey ! It is written with a pleasing comic, sarcastic tone to add a much needed touch of levity in attempt to season its thematic darkness. .Although some reviewers seem to be uncomfortable with its very nature ,it should not have been surprising as it was clearly advertised in the title. Shortcomings of the human condition with its staggering narcissistic potential are the focus while expertly highlighting self serving behaviors and spellbinding betrayals .Recommend avoiding spoilers to grasp all of its warped and tangled glory. Left open ended, one must immediately progress to book two.
