Female pov

This book is the same quality as all the others. The pacing in this story was nuts. The whole story took place in less than a month. If I ignored timelines and just focused on what was happening it still seemed extremely one sided.

I think what's missing in this series would be the guys pov. Everything seems so rushed and unrealistic, but maybe there would be more explanation with a guys pov as well.


Synopsis:
Aubrey is the best friend from book 1. She's been dating Jared for 18 months and he's slowly become abusive. This last time he hits her hard enough she loses two teeth. She leaves him and stays with Cat and Heath from book 1.

While recovering she finds out she's pregnant. She doesn't tell anyone because she doesn't know what to do.

While walking along the coast she slips and almost falls off a cliff. Riker is Cats mysterious and quiet neighbor who sees her fall and saves her.

She tells him everything about the pregnancy and Jared.

He walks her home and Cat finds out her mother has attempted suicide so she has to leave. She doesn't want to leave Aubrey alone so Riker offers to let her stay with him.

They run across townspeople and he refers to her as his girlfriend. He tells her not to go into his guest room. They fall into a relationship.

Cat comes back home but Aubrey decides to stay with Riker. Riker proposes to her and they get married. She falls in love with him but knows he can't say it back to her.

She goes into his guest room and finds out that the rumors are true and he was an assassin in the military. She gets upset with him but accepts it.

Jared comes to the island and goes to Cats house. Heath tells him Aubrey is with Riker and gives him Rikers address so Riker can deal with him.

Riker ties him to a chair in the garage and begins torturing him (pouring water down his throat until he chokes, slamming his hand into a car).

The police are called and Aubrey is scared Riker will get into trouble. She runs out of the garage and screams for help. Riker runs to find her and she sneaks back into the barn to set Jared free. They run outside and Jared starts yelling at her. She sees the cops and Riker coming so she spits on Jared. Jared gets mad and knocks her down. He is arrested.

Riker doesn't like that he lost control and was so scared for her so he decides to leave her. She gets upset and they talk it through.

She has the baby and Riker has switched military jobs from assassin to security.

Let Me In is a really good addition to the Blurred Lines series. Aubrey Walsh escapes her vicious boyfriend and goes to the island home of her friend, Cat, where she takes refuge. She is rescued after a mishap by Riker, to whom she is immediately drawn. The two begin to develop feelings for one another very quickly, but both have some major baggage to overcome.

The story of Aubrey Walsh pulled me in right away and held my attention. I felt very badly for Aubrey over all of the abuse she suffered from her cruel boyfriend, Jared. I was so glad that she was able to go to Cat when she left Jared. Riker was a great character, and I loved how protective and loving he was toward Aubrey.

I really liked the characters in this one, the storyline, and the setting of the island off the coast of Maine. The romance between the main characters was sweet and touching, and it was great to see the main characters from the first two books turn up. I'm already looking forward to more in this series!

3.5 RATING- this would have been a solid 4 STAR rating, despite the warped speed of the relationship between the two main characters, but the heroine got on my nerves a bit. She just demanded too much from the hero (who was amazing!) and didn't understand his past at all. He deserved some space I think. Other than that, I enjoyed this read and glad I was able to pick it up on sale.

This is not my favorite series by Erin McCarthy, but oh goodness, I really liked this book. At first I thought I was going to be bored and annoyed because the book was about abuses and secrets (like most new adult books out there) and I was so glad it turned out a lot better than I had expected.

Out of all the pairs in this series, Aubrey and Riker (hot name!) were my favorite. I loved the chemistry between these two. Even though, I still think their relationship moved a little too fast for my liking, I cannot help falling in love with how much they cared for each other. Their love was intense and so sweet.

Aubrey was a really nice character. Normally I don't like the type of characters that are submissive and runs away from problems. However, I understand the situation she was in, so I really felt sorry for the girl. The way she handled the issue might not have been ideal because I would totally call the cop, but at least she did something about it. Riker was such a babe. I loved both his sweet and caring side, and his dark and possessive side. It was hard not to love him when he was super hot and such a gentleman.

I did, however, have a bit of a problem with the writing as there were quite a few grammatical errors and typos. Not that they were that many, but I was still annoyed by that. At least they didn't ruin the whole book for me. The pace was great as it didn't take long to get to the story and there weren't too many unnecessary scenes, which also helped make the story move faster.

To wrap it all up, it was a really sweet (and steamy) romance. I recommend it to those who are comfortable with reading a book about abuses and a book that has intimate scenes.

Aubrey Walsh never thought that she would be in an abusive relationship, but after she finds herself being hit so hard it knocked two teeth out, it sends her running for the hills, or island with her best friend, if you will. Shortly after, she finds herself pregnant, and as she's deciding her future she slips on rocks, and falls. This is where Riker, the local mystery, saves her, and she finds herself telling him all. Ryker is taking some time off from his very high stress job, when he connects with Aubrey, although he tries to stay unemotionally involved. But when that doesn't work, he decides that she will be his, and will do anything to protect her and her baby. I did enjoy this story quite a bit. Erin McCarthy captivated me instantly with Aubrey, and I couldn't turn the pages quickly enough. But I never quite connected fully with Ryker. The suspense of Aubrey's ex finding her kept my heart racing, and Aubrey's snark kept me laughing, (Especially trying to guess names.) I think if the story was longer, it would have been a 5 star rating, but in my opinion, it seemed a bit too rushed, especially the ending. I do want to read more of the Blurred Lines series in the near future, and I would love to seem more of Aubrey and Ryker, so I will HIGHLY RECOMMEND!

Book 3 in the Blurred Series Aubrey and Riker both have issues with commitments. Riker tends to be a loaner the town's people think he has PTSD because of his military history and they way he keeps to himself. Aubrey has had several hookups/boyfriends her latest Jared is very abusive and controlling. Aubrey finally get the courage to leave him while he is out at the bar and she stays with a friend who lives on a remote island - you can only get there by ferry. Riker meets Aubrey and they hit it off from the get go. She finds him charming and sensitive, Riker finds her sassy and sexy. The story has both romance and humor thorough out, great story. I am looking forward to reading the next one in this series. Though each book is a stand alone and can be read separately.

Let Me In is the third book to Erin McCarthy's Blurred Lines series and in the third book it's all about Aubrey and Riker.

Overall, this was enjoyable book to read in the series. The one character that won me over was Riker in the story. I enjoyed him much more than Aubrey. I look forward to reading the next book in the series. At least I do not have to wait for the next book now. I can go ahead and buy it and start reading it since they all have released. :)

I give this book 3.5 stars and recommend it to readers of the New Adult genre. This book can be read as a standalone.

Can I just say, *sigh*. Erin McCarthy has made it an art, writing about drool worthy, non jerk heroes and this is another prime example. Let Me In is the third book in the Blurred Line Series and is about Aubrey who has hit rock bottom in her life. She's been is an abusive relationship for over a year and after taking a hit that results in two missing teeth, she gets her courage to leave and seeks help. She stays with Cat and Heath (from You Make Me, book 1) on Vinalhaven island and meets the the reserved but sexy Riker. Now Riker is the kind of man I would love for myself, sure, he has his own baggage and isn't perfect but who is? Riker is a military assassin and Aubrey should be afraid of him like she's scared of other men but instead, his calm control makes her feel safer then she has in a long time. Their feelings and relationship progress really quickly but it never feels rushed, he cherishes everything about her and that's something Aubrey desperately needs. One of the things I liked best about this story is that the relationship isn't one sided, Riker needs Aubrey as much as she needs him. Aubrey provides an anchor for Ricker, a kind of hold on his humanity in the face of an incredibly harsh profession and someone/something to live for. Ricker gives Aubrey financial, physical and emotional security while supporting her in building herself back up and reclaiming her sense of self. The whole story and the flow of mutual support of the main characters was done beautifully, everyone will be wanting a Ricker of their own, myself included :)

While Let Me In is the third book of the Blurred Lines Series, it can easily be read as a standalone. It was nice to briefly catch up on characters from previous books, and not have to have the usual background fill in. It isn't the usual characters filled with self doubts, low self-esteem issues. Aubrey was in an abusive relationship that she leaves at the beginning of the book, never doubting she made the wrong choice. Riker is just what you see and makes no apologies for what he is. They bring out the best in each other and accept who that person is, of course there are questions, but both are mature enough to understand and accept the answers. Let Me In was a fast read, and I never once wanted to reach in the book and shake them to wake up and open your eyes. LOL

So many errors

I got this book because I got the first two. They were easy to read and predictable great for a lazy read that you can get done in a day.

This one was predictable but the writer must have gotten lazy when proof reading or something because there were so many errors. Too many for it to be a typo or miss read. It's so bad that the sentences don't make sense and you have to read the next one to get the last.

If the author sees this I hope she either fires her editor or gets one. It's a shambles especially when I paid more than I'm usually willing to for this book. Only because I had the first two. I wouldn't recommend this book to anyone just because the mistakes were so annoying. They're on every page.

I'll give it 2 1/2 stars. It was an okay read if a little simplistic. I had a hard time suspending belief on some things. An assassin who openly admits it to everyone? Falling in love in under 2 months? I get a marriage of convenience/protectiveness even a strong case of lust, but a little too insta-love for my taste. I probably won't put the author on my favorite reads list, but I might try another of her books to see if its a little more fleshed out.

Fire your proof reader

I had to give you a three because when you pay for a book you expect the author has corrected their grammatical errors. I kid you not there are at least 125 errors. An example, somehow had called the cops. Correction, Someone called the cops. On the plus side. I loved seeing the changes of Aubrey from book 1 to book 3. I would like to see Cat and Heath finally tie the knot.

He sees a young woman fall of the rocks and yet does not hesitate to come and rescue her and take her in. He wants to remain emotionally un-involved , but as he gets to know her and finds out the truth about the situation she finds herself in, he promises to do everything and anything to protect Aubrey and her unborn child.

1 STAR – "NOPE. JUST NOPE.

Let me save you the trouble: This book was BAD. The story made zero sense, the characters were either annoying or boring, and the "romance" had all the chemistry of a wet sock.

Worst part? [Pick one:

· The hero was a walking red flag, but the author expected me to swoon?
· The "drama" was so forced I actually laughed out loud.
· The heroine’s choices made me want to throw my Kindle. ]

I’ve read dollar-store romances with more depth. Money wasted, time I’ll never get back. Let Me In? More like Let Me Out. ✌️

This was a pretty good book. I bought it on google play and i swear this book had the most errors I have ever seen in a book or from an author. They were constant. I knew what the were trying to get across with all the mess ups so it was still enjoyable. The ending was very abrupt I'm not sure i liked that. Can't decode if I should stick with a 4 star or give it 3....

Stilted dialogue, typos, and a wildly compressed timeline. The mmc's characterisation never coalesceces. I get that he's a trope, but there's still gotta be some kind of depth and consistency for me to care.

I like this book the best so far in this series, but not that much better. I can feel the connection between Aubrey and Riker in this book. In the previous two books, I felt disconnected with both couples. Another reason why I liked this book better is how it discusses how easy and unknowingly a person ends up in an abusive relationship. It is easy for outsiders to say how they can't understand why a woman allows herself to be in an abusive relationship. Aubrey said it best when she said that it started off with little things that slowly erodes her self-esteem away until it is too late and you are in a relationship that you are terrified to leave. I always have lots of respect for a woman who is able to get up the courage to leave a situation like that. Guys like Jared are coward who feel like they have to beat on a woman to make themselves feel better. Jared has Aubey so conditioned to doing things right away for a guy that when she is forced to stay with Riker, she automatically starts doing things for Riker out of fear when she will catch herself doing them. Unselfishly, Riker offers who protection through marriage. It doesn't faze him that she is pregnant from Jared. He is already considering her unborn baby as his and wants to protect them both. when Cat finds out that they got married, she blows her lid and puts down Aubrey's decision as being foolish. It seems to me that since she was upset with first Tiffany's relationship and subsequent marriage and then with Aubrey's relationship and marriage, that Cat is just jealous because she and Heath are still not technically engaged or getting married anytime soon. She shouldn't take her cattiness out on her friends when they end up in serious relationship that seem to move faster than her relationship with Heath. The confrontation with Jared seems almost anti-climatic. Even when his life is being threatened, Jared still manages to find the time to put Aubrey down. I did like the epilogue to the book. Riker changes his contract job and how long he will be away from his family. He is really taken with Emma and treats her like she really is one of her ow.

I cried. Riker was amazeballs. He made the book. I swooned, and laughed, and was anxious. I loved the book. Only fault for me: speed of the relationship. Way, way, to fast. I would have loved for it to be slow and thoughtful. It seemed like Riker would have been one to think things through, analyze, and overthink. His personality wouldn't have, and shouldn't have taken those choices.

There's a lot to like about "Let Me In," where McCarthy tackles some difficult issues with great sensitivity.

Aubrey Walsh is fleeing a horribly abusive relationship, and she finds refuge with her childhood friend in a tiny town on an island off the coast of Maine (wow..Maine seems to be a destination for that recently). Aubrey's is a typical abuse victim -- she's so embarrassed and humiliated by her boyfriend's abuse that she doesn't even call the police. He's isolated her from friends and family so she feels she has nowhere to go.

Riker's a loner, and happy that way. But when Aubrey's island wanderings bring her dangerously close to severe injury, Riker's there to rescue her. He's attracted to her, but his life doesn't lend itself to relationships, so he tries unsuccessfully to distance himself from her. Riker's a sniper, an assassin. A necessary job that he does well, but which has forced him to retreat from emotion, and isolates him just as much as Aubrey's abuse does her.

These two wounded and isolated souls find each other, and it's really a sweet story. McCarthy confronts both domestic abuse and the emotional isolation of a Special Forces operative with sympathy and dignity.

The only quibble I have is that the story's so short that Aubrey's and Riker's relationship develops way too quickly to be believable. He's something of recluse, but he's suddenly all about having Aubrey stay with him. She's been abused and beaten, but she's suddenly all about getting naked with him.

But if you can get past that, it's a good story that makes you care about its characters.

Aubrey is a beautiful woman who ends up in a very bad relationship with a man named Jared. He was physically and mentally abusive to her. Aubrey finally gets the strength to runaway from him and escapes to her best friend Cats place to hide out until she decides what to do next.

As Aubrey begins to start dealing with all the trauma she learns that she is pregnant with Jared’s baby and she doesn’t know what to do? She decides to go for a walk down by the water and get her thoughts in order. She sees a guys (Riker) chopping wood in the house next to Cats on the beach with no shirt. While she is out walking she falls and gets hurt and its Riker to the rescue.

This is the story of Riker and Aubrey and how they connect with each other on many levels because they are both emotionally damaged and cautious to trust. Riker agrees to keep and eye on Aubrey while Cat is out of town to make sure that Jared does not show up. Aubrey continues to grow closer to Riker as they continue to slowly open up to each other.

This story was amazing real. I was so totally drawn into this book I Just couldn’t put it down, I think this was one of the best books in Erin McCarthy Blurred Lines Series so far. I also loved that the author made the female character that started out a victim in the beginning a stronger woman in the end. I am proud to see the author’s willingness to write the strong woman character. I always appreciate that.
