Sophie Potters’ life is in full bloom. Running both a thriving flower farm and successful Farmers’ Market, she’s living out her dreams in the idyllic Northern California town of Fairvale. While Sophie might be able to create stunning bouquets, she withers when it comes to romance. Content with her single status, she resolves to focus on her work, until a lost piece of luggage lands a handsome stranger on her porch. Landscape architect, Cole Blankenship, has always lived in his father’s shadow. When he’s selected as the designer for a popular backyard contest, a trip out west offers an opportunity to finally prove himself. He meets the charismatic florist who farms the same plot of land and tensions grow, along with unexpected feelings. But any sort of relationship is prohibited and could cost Cole the first place title and Sophie, her livelihood. Will Sophie and Cole let a contest dictate their love lives? Or will they discover that love grows best when you follow your heart and not the rules?
What a sweet book. Makes u want to believe that anything can happen and want to believe in love. I couldn’t put it down loved everything about the book.
Things I liked: 1) No OP drama. Very little angst. 2) After the initial snafu, the MCs are refreshingly honest and upfront with one another. No long, drawn out secrets or half truths. 3) Adults who act like adults. I know it's weird, but in CR these days, I've come to dread less than that. 4) Clean content and language. 5) The hero didn't seem like a man-about-town.
What didn't work for me: 1) Relatively insta-love. 2) A fair amount of sappiness. 3) The lack of legal follow-up with the contract the heroine had with her landlords.
Great book for summer, ties in well with farmer’s markets that are available all summer. Easy to like characters. No offensive language or steamy sex scenes. That being said, there is still tension and passion! It is just a delightful read about a flower grower from California, a landscape architect from Nashville, and a contest that gets in the middle.
I loved every page of this book! The characters were like friends and how their love developed was such a sweet story. The book cover had me hooked from the first look and the pages inside are just as beautiful!
This book was a real page turner... I just could not put it down. It was such a sweet love story. Sophie is such a lovely girl...just like the girl next door.
In the Market for Love by Megan Squires is one of the sweetest stories I have read in a long time. Sophie is a local flower farmer in the small town of Fairvale, California. Cole is in Fairvale on business. A chance meeting lead them to each other, and then again, and once again. I don’t want to give away too much, but will Sophie and Cole find love even though she resides in California and he in Tennessee? Squires does an excellent job of radiating sweet spring sunshine into her novel and leaving a smile on your face as you read. It isn’t only her characters that come to life, but the town of Fairvale as well. This is a beautiful, hallmark-esque tale of love. In the Market For Love includes blossoming love, blossoming flowers and a sweet mix of local characters that you can imagine in your own hometown. I recommend her book while laying in a hammock enjoying a cool summer evening!
I loved reading In the Market for Love!!! All about Sophie Potter a twenty-seven year old women who owns a flower farm and runs the community farmers market & Cole Blankenship who is thirty years old and a Landscape Architect. Cole is in Fairvale, CA for a job, on his way to the job site the cab got a flat that almost killed them. Since the cabbie had no idea how to change the shredded tire, Cole did it. He found a floral duffle in the trunk. Upon checking he discovered it belonged to Sophie. He had the cabbie drop him at her address, so he could return the duffle. Read about Sophie & Cole and how an innocent meeting could turn your life on its head!! The author wrote a story about a quirky group of people, who compliment each other and make you fall in love with there everyday life! This was an awesome read and I was unable to put it down!!! Definite Read!!!
First of all, if you like Hallmark movies, this would be a great book for you. It reads just like a Hallmark script. It is simplistic with a predictable plot and ending, but it is a sweet story. Sophie and Cole are quirky, yet very likeable in this story. There were no major plot twists or crazy events going on in this story, but it was an enjoyable read. Each chapter provides a different perspective from Sophie and Cole. If you are looking for something simple and sweet, this is a good option for a quick, clean story.
Loved-hated this book. Loved the whole flower farmer concept and at then end she doesn't have to move for him. Hated a lot. This is a small-town and no one knew that Sophie is related to Derek and it's a conflict of interest. And they're trying to keep it quiet, but it's a small town. I also like to see/read relationship progression. Instead, we're told they spend time together What are they doing that their relationship develops? Why can't we read more about that?
This should have been a novella. I'm halfway through and quitting because the story is over. They've met and fallen in love. Their only obstacle, they've put behind them. So why read the other half of the book? At this point... I'm bored! So... I'm done. I've read enough. I keep avoiding going back to it because it isn't interesting anymore.
“Because there is an incredibly handsome man carrying a duffel bag walking up to the house right this very second, and since I already have a handsome man of my own, I figure this one must be for you.”
This book was sweet. It definitely has that good feel of a Hallmark movie. The perfect book to read during spring. 3 stars.
I have not read a true romance tale for a long time. Most Stories have sown in Trauma , in many forms. This book Was a treat for Reading The Blooming Of Love, with the right Ending.
This book was fun and easy to read. The more I read, the more I didn’t want to put the book down. I liked that it was a clean romance novel. The main characters, Sophie and Cole were likeable. I loved the happy ending.
Enjiy ed so much. The characters are so well formed. I get lost in the story. The author has such a wonderful way if taking you right unto the lives if the people.
A flower farmer & landscape architect make a compatible pair. Cute story of love & devotion with a big family to help celebrate. Glad they like to eat out- I can see why the brother marries a baker since he grew up with a mom who can’t cook!
What a lovely story. Boy meets girl in a luggage mix up and they are instantly smitten. A landscape artist and floral farmer find true love in California. A fast read that is very innocent and full of love and friendship.
This is an entertaining way to get your daily housework done! Listening to books keeps me company with a whole host of characters. These books may have been geared towards young people but being a senior, I can attest to being charmed by Megan's stories also! Well done!
In The Market For Love is such a fantastic story. I can just see all of the different flowers and their colors so vividly. Such a great love story. The way Megan Squires writes is just like being there. I am binging on all of her books.
