Kiki, the story's main character, is a 7-year-old girl whose virgin innocence was stolen while living with her parents in a northern city. Kiki moves south to live with her grandmother who takes Kiki to a therapist to heal her troubled heart and clarify her tangled thoughts. From the therapist's office and playroom, Kiki tells her story of trials and triumph that children and adult survivors will want to hear again and again.
I read this book in full after being given a copy by the author who was a former professor. He asked me to illustrate several passages and create a logo on his visions. This book is not just useful for understanding and treating children with the scars of abuse, it is a wonderful legacy left by Dr. Toldson.
