Sent in disgrace to spend the summer with her grandmother, Anna becomes involved with a near-by wolf sanctuary. There she meets Pete, but the two of them don't see eye to eye. Andrew Matthews was born in South Glamorgan in 1948. Andrew taught English in Hampshire after which he became a full-time writer. He lives in Reading with his wife and their cats. Andrew's work has been widely translated and he has made numerous appearances at schools and libraries throughout the UK.

I picked this up thinking it was a werewolf story but this is a realist story with no werewolves to be found. I liked the way it deals with the fact that wolves are misunderstood, and the setting of a wolf sanctuary was interesting. The plot was ok but I really didn't like the characters. The main character, Anna, is 15, but is very confident. Her gran is cold and bitter and has no respect for men. The story explores Anna's relationships with boys, sex, and love. Not to my taste.

a light-hearted read suitable for all ages. one of my favourites from my puberty years, and it taught me more about love than anyone else cared to tell me. love is complicated, and it does not always have a happy ending.

i just love how this book transforms Anna, a girl about to throw her virginity away in the name of what she considers true love to become someone more mature and responsible. in the end she is able to maintain a platonic relationship with Pete and keep herself in line.
the only painful part is Manitou, which im sure all of you who have read the book will know what im talking about. i felt like he was the one who really taught her about real love first.
i like how Zeke and Anna's grandma are more open and communicate in a way that their grandchildren are comfortable with.
and the best thing about this book is that it contains no drugs, alcohol, or swearing of any sort although there are a few sexual references, im glad the author chose to leave the heavy stuff out of this one.

It's a book I bought for the long flight from Japan to US. My copy has a large font, with large spacing, which is why I read it in a very short time. It's a very light kind of book, but still with the "kilig" part.

I read this when I was twelve I think and I totally loved it. Set during the summer with of course romance this was the perfect read for that age. Anna was a very likeable character and Matthews conveyed emotion and action perfectly. I recommend this to any girl aged between 11-15.
