The Blade's Shadow

Rate this book
A young queen and a freed slave will make their destiny together.
(Blade’s Destiny Part 2)

When a queen rejected a thousand years of tradition and freed a slave and elevated him to a position of great power, it was only the beginning of their strange destiny. As Crown Princess Asharru and her sacred Blade, Tirigan, seek to eradicate the corruption at the heart of the Gryphon Court, they are met with resistance from many noble Houses.

But the greatest danger still lurkers in the shadows, for some traitors aren’t as dead as Queen and Blade might hope.

Asharru and Tirigan are too determined to allow their enemies to force them to stop.

While there is no guarantee they’ll survive to rule together, one thing is certain—they’ll love each other in this life or the next.

Author’s note: While the other books in the series can be read as standalones, Blade’s Destiny & The Blade’s Shadow are a continuing story and must be read in order.

Lisa Blackwood is the USA Today bestselling author of the Gargoyle and Sorceress Urban Fantasy series. She and her new co-author, S.M. Schmitz, are also embarking upon a new Space Opera Romance series. Book one is titled, Vengeance: Warships of the Spire. It can be found in the Dominion Rising boxset anthology.

As well as writing, Lisa is also an avid gardener, horse enthusiast, and dog lover. She grudgingly lives in a small town in Southern Ontario, though she would much rather live deep in a dark forest, surrounded by majestic old-growth trees. Since she cannot live her fantasy, she decided to write fantasy instead. Freya, her ever faithful and beloved hellhound, ensures Lisa takes breaks from the computer so they can rid the garden of cats with delusions of conquest.

The Blade's Shadow is part two of Blade's Destiny. This really is a continuation of that book, so it would be vastly confusing to start here, just a heads up.

I have loved every single book in the Ishtar's Legacy saga (I think it should count as that since we're over five books including novellas) and this one is no different. Honestly, this set might be one of my favorites simply because I love experiencing the Anunnaki Hashar's parts in this book. The world expansion (just how much more we really SEE of their world) is phenomenal. Also, I just really like him. I'm hopeful we'll get a story about him someday.

This book starts right where Blade's Destiny left off and we dive right into the action and rescue/self-rescue of Tirigan and his cohorts. As there are so many interesting and unexpected twists, I can't give a great synopsis without giving away key (and fun!) parts of the book. Suffice to say there is lots of action, lots of discovery, and Asharuu and Tirigan finally let themselves love one another without fear (we all knew this would happen, the fun part is the journey!).

It's a wonderful story of friendship, love, loyalty, and determination. This book left me happier than the others and I look forward to First Queen of the Gryphons when it arrives.

'Blade’s Destiny' & 'The Blade’s Shadow' are a continuing story and must be read in order. If you've read and enjoyed Blade's Destiny, you've probably been impatiently awaiting 'The Blade's Shadow'. It's ready to read, and is a satisfying conclusion to the story begun in 'Blade's Destiny'. You don't need a review; I give it a 5-star rating, so just start reading! And if you haven't read 'Blade's Destiny', start with it and binge-read the two books. That's the best way to do it; I wish someone had told me that before I started.

I absolutely loved this book! I have been impatiently waiting for this book as “Blade’s Destiny” ended on a cliffhanger.
Asharru and Tirigan are amazing characters! I really liked the secondary characters as well, especially Hashar, the Anunnaki. Lots of twists and turns throughout the story that kept me reading from start to finish in a day.
I’m so glad Ms. Blackwood is continuing this series. I can’t wait to see what she comes up with next.

Great addition to the series

The last book left us in a cliff hanger but this book jumps right back we’re we left off!! Just when you think all the bad guys have finally been killed someone brings turn bac from the dead! Talk about frustrating l. Will our heroine and her man be able to root out the corruption in her court? Or will she follow her brother in death through assassination?

I honestly love this series so much. I’m on track to finish all 5 books within a week and I have started to aggressively push the reading of this series on friends and family. I desperately require people to discuss this series with after I’ve finished because it’s going to leave a huge gryphon shaped hole in my heart. By Ereshkigal’s frigid tits, this is going to put me into the slump of all reading slumps.

Great Read!

I love these books. I can read two a day and look for more. The characters are so real and I get so wrapped up in their stories that for a moment I almost feel that I can see them and hear their voices.
Silly I guess but, Hey, I'm a fan!

Beautifully written! I loved the growing trust between Tirigan and Asharru! I loved how the two of them worked with Ishtar and Tammuz along with the Anunnaki Hastur to defeat their enemies! I can’t wait to read the next book!

Great read

I love this series by Lisa Blackwood. For those who are just starting Istar's legacy series,, in my humble opinion the first two books can be read as stand alone but books 3 and 4 are basically one book and should be read together and in order.

A legacy lives on

The story progresses as we watch a young Queen find her Blade in the most unlikely of places. Danger & betrayal surround them & our Blade begins to establish the Shadows. With a lot of divine help the new Queen & her Blade become a force to be reckoned with.
