Fundamentals of Track and Field provides all the information coaches need for teaching track and field skills to novices. The book features an opening chapter on organization and planning, plus 13 chapters devoted to specific track and field events. Each chapter focuses on five elements: safety suggestions; technique - correct technical performance for each event; teaching steps - progressions and drills; common errors and corrections; standards and assessment - suggestions for assessing qualitative and quantitative performances in each event.
My coach told me that she doesn't have a favorite book. However, she often times tells me to read this book. So this book help young athletes and their coaches understand technique of the different events in track. I have read portions of this book but not the whole thing. This is a very helpful book.
