Quiet Talks about Jesus

Rate this book
Here is a wonderful book about Jesus- who He really is and why God sent Him to this planet. With stimulating imagination, Gordon paints a remarkable portrait of this Jesus, the Man from Galilee. You will see Him as you have never seen Him before and understand Him more wonderfully than you ever thought possible. This classic writing describes His love, His mercy, and His plan for you as the unique object of his "wooing" love. You can actually feel His presence within as you read the yearning of His heart for you. Quiet Talks About Jesus, originally written in 1906, is one of the first books in the popular Quiet Talks series .

A third of the way through the book I still didn't know the author's purpose in writing it. I found it not so much difficult to read as not really worth the effort. When I read his belief that the Jewish sacrificial system was God's first plan of salvation and that Jesus' death was not God's original and only plan to save mankind, I was out. Will not finish, do not recommend.

"It can be said at once that His dying was not God's own plan. It was a plan conceived somewhere else, and yielded to by God. God had a plan of atonement by which men who were willing could be saved from sin and its effects. That plan is given in the old Hebrew code."

It took me a bit of time to get through this book due to the author's style of writing, that being said; I did find it interesting. I also agreed with the majority of the author's thoughts however there were a few I did not.
