The artificial celestial body Aposimz measures 120,000 km in diameter. Most of its volume is its core space, which is covered by a superstructural shell. Fifty centuries ago, the people who lost the war against the core lost their right to reside legitimately on Aposimz, and were stranded on the frigid surface. They face rampant Frame Disease and aggressive automatons which appear frequently on the Ruins Level. Yet even so, somehow the people survive.
Tsutomu Nihei (弐瓶 勉 Nihei Tsutomu, born 1971) is a Japanese manga artist. His cyberpunk-influenced artwork has gained a strong cult following. He has a relatively large community of fans in Germany where his manga Blame!, NOiSE and Biomega were published by Ehapa. Blame! was also published in France and Spain by Glénat, in the US by Tokyopop and in Italy by Panini Comics.
At first he studied architecture and later it is shown up in his manga works with drawing huge structures. This became one of his general theme that makes his manga unique. His works are usually in black and white. He is also an avid fan of the video game series Halo, as he mentions in his commentary section in the Halo Graphic Novel.
Very good. Nihei Tsutomu is today’s best mangaka! I suppose so. I’m going to try to buy this series’ new vol when they publish. I love great Japanese Mangaka Mr.Nihei. This more harder then Sydonia,Japan publishers says Sydonia is soft SiFi but this? Idk. But I guess it’s harder. But not as much as BLAME the another best manga, you know?
The story is still going strong, though it may just be that we lose the main antagonist. Two epic fights adorn this volume. The level of destruction is spectacular. There is no sign of the struggle nearing an end. The volume ends in a cliffhanger.
Etherow's next targets are the twin frames Eile and Eime. They rule a town like Ancient Rome, forcing frame disease victims to fight in arenas against unbeatable foes. Etherow is seen as a one of them, but in the arena he shows his true form and challenges Eile and Eime themselves.
Me esta gustando esta serie pero ya me leí dos tomos y aún no entiendo como funciona todo en este nuevo mundo que proponen. El dibujo de Nihei no es tan detallado como en blame parece que lo hizo con prisa.
The art and hard sci-fi grab me but I'm still not in love with the action. Tsutomu Nihei's action scenes have always been hard for me to follow, moreso with the sparse linework here, and the fact that these dorky armor suits all look the same doesn't help. Apparently they're different colors, you can see this in the color pages at the beginning of the book, but of course the rest is in black and white. Another unfortunate thing is the dialogue, which might be due to the translation, but its silly. No other way to say it. It makes sense that BLAME! was almost wordless, and this might not be Nihei's strong suit. Still, the story is cool, with shades of Nausicaa thematically and visually, and Titania is a great character. Will continue...
Somehow, I feel like it weirdly quick pacing from the first volume has gotten worse in this one. Things fly by so quickly, it's a little hard to grasp what's going on with on. Also, every fight scene feels like I'm reading the manga equivalent of a PSO2 mission, especially with how Titania keeps popping up in Etherows HUD, in the same way, NPCS would talk to player characters via their HUD during missions. It somehow feels like a lot happened but also nothing at the same exact time. The fight scenes also feel oddly dull? I can't put my finger on it, but it feels like a bunch of posturing and not that much action. Also, one thing about the art style that has been driving me a little nuts is how some characters' eyes are drawn. Several characters look like their eyes are bugging out of their head even in neutral expressions, or they look like their eyes are painted onto their face. It's really jarring to look at. Mind you, this is a personal annoyance, but it's enough that it's bothered me the entire time reading.
This is still an entertaining action series. It didn't feel like there was much plot development in this collection, though. Though the loose artwork fits the dystopian space tone, the art is so sparse that it's sometimes hard to tell what is going on, especially when everyone is similarly-armored in fights.
This was actually boring. The main character is not particularly interesting, nor are the supporting cast and the antagonists. The world, creature and armor designs are somewhat tame and underwhelming for I would expect from Tsutomu Nihei.
At this point, I guess I'll skip Aposimz and wait for Mr. Nihei's next story.
Such a badass uber awesome cyberpunk kawaii manga, Nihei handles action and suspense so well in this one and the introduction of a new waifu and the mecha wiafu's new fur power is sooo fucking dope. Read it....
The creativity by the creator of this work is impressive. Also like the layered rendering in this work. Was a fan of the Knights of Sidonia series, and now am a fan of Aposimz as well.
The art here is fantastic and the plot is well thought out, but this series definitely isn’t for everyone. What happens isn’t really explained and you have to figure it out as you go, but I quite like that. I’m enjoying this series a lot and the characters are great.
I’m conflicted. I find the story interesting but I’m not a fan of the artwork. The artwork is not bad. It’s a stylistic choice. It’s just not my preference.
The worldbuilding of the first one is interesting. This one jumps a little too quickly into action for me. I want to know more about the world the story takes place in.
