October 9, 2026I was not able to read this book, because, in the introduction, the author admits that she was given a prescription to give an offering of a horse bit to Oya many years ago, and she admits that she never followed through on this task. It is difficult for me to imagine how a person could publish a book about a goddess whom she knows she owes something to, and thus cannot revere properly. She is clearly not a true adherent to any religion Oya is a part of, and I had to put the book down immediately.
