No matter where she goes, USA Today Bestselling author Nikki Lynn Barrett hears voices in her head. Instead of calling her crazy and locking her up, her family realizes it's just a product of being an author and allows her to write the stories so that the voices shut up. But they don't. And probably never will. There's no need to lock her up, Nikki knows she'll never escape the voices, not until each and every last story is written. And for every story she writes, about ten or more ideas pop up.
When she isn't slaving away at her computer writing books that will probably make you cry and keep you in suspense, Nikki plots to take over the world one book at a time. What? It's a sickness. One she can't escape!
Books aren't her only addiction, though. Nikki can be found making up parodies to drive her son crazy, and bantering back and forth with her husband, who somehow manages to steal her away from the fictional world she lives in all the time.
Nikki lives in Arizona with her husband and son, where she can be found using every creativity outlet she can find through music, photography, handcrafted things, and random interests that she may pick up from time to time.
This is a really good story about a widowed father of two children needing help and that is when Tests shows up. I definitely recommend you read this book as it is so well written and worth reading. I Voluntarily Reviewed an ARC Copy Of This Book
September Breeze is the second book in the Cinnamon Bay Romance series by Nikki Lynn Barrett. It is a sweet contemporary romance- a nanny/single father love story full of funny banter, mystery, family, small town magic, some drama, breaking down barriers, finding where you belong, emotion, troubled girls, secrets, past pain, worry, obstacles, ‘special’ brownies, crazy antics, adventure, forgiveness, and quirky characters. Tess Dixon is a successful songwriter who has just arrived in town to work on the musical score for a movie being filmed in the area. But a SNAFU with her accommodation arrangements means she’s got no where to go- that is until some well-meaning locals give her an ad looking for help. It sparks her curiosity, and soon after she’s accepting a job as nanny for two troubled girls and their widowed father. She isn’t planning on staying long- just for the couple of months while the movie is being filmed- then she’s off again. She never stays in one place for long, and she doesn’t do attachments. But this little family really needs some help- and her ‘rules’ are soon tested as she begins falling for both the girls and their handsome father. What happens when secrets are revealed? What happens when life altering news is delivered? When feelings become involved, will she finally drop her defences and take a chance on love- or will her past become an obstacle too difficult to cross? Will walls finally crumble and hearts heal? This is a great story- beautifully written and easy to read. The characters were well developed and endearing- quirky personalities and all. Even the secondary characters added to the over all feel and depth of the story, especially Tatum, Alice, Hattie, Birdie, and Trixie- the story just wouldn’t be the same without them. Ms. Barrett certainly put her characters through the wringer though. I really felt for them. Not only did they have their past pain to deal with, then relationship issues, the two troubled girls to look out for, the meddling locals, her fears, his diagnosis, and adjustments- it got to the point where I was muttering “Oh! What now?! I don’t think the story need quite so much drama and angst- but, even with all that, I still enjoyed reading it. I am looking forward to seeing what Ms. Barrett does next.
In September Breeze, the second book of the Cinnamon Bay series, we are introduced to Brian, a widowed father of two young girls and Tess, a songwriter, who becomes their nanny. Can he face his not so bright future and can she come to terms with her past so that they can become the family they were meant to be?
In her signature style, Nikki Lynn Barrett tells warm, deep, emotional stories that grab you from the first chapter and make you feel long after the final page. Both Tess and Brian are delightful, likable and caring people, and many of the townspeople want them to find happiness together, especially the meddlesome old granny trio, who lends humor to this beautiful story. I also loved the two young daughters, Tatum and Alice, who have already suffered enough in their childhood. All they really want is for dad to be happy and for them to have a full, loving family. Nikki knows how to pull the emotion out of them through fun, laughter and tears. As a bonus, this author shares another tender side of herself in the beautiful song lyrics she penned for both Tess and Alice.
I received an advanced copy and heartily recommend this book to readers of all ages. It's a loving story that will warm your hearts! I eagerly await the next book in the Cinnamon Bay series, Playing Doctor, written by Monique McDonell. Here's to more charm and love on the Boardwalk!!!
OMG! I do not know Jenny but I’m so glad you guys are friends! I am blind, a braille reader and teacher of students with vision impairments. I so longed for a book where blindness is not viewed as such a negative thing or something that you can turn the page in a book and fix. I absolutely loved this story. The characters are so believable, and fun. I admire the way that you have taken difficult topics and woven them into such a great story. I can’t wait to introduce friends to this book. Feel free to write others and encourage fellow writers to view blindness as a characteristic of a person and not the whole or defining point of that person! Keep the books coming!
September Breeze (A Cinnamon Bay Romance Book 2) by Nikki Lynn Barrett is one of my favourites this year. It just hits you in all the right places and makes you feel. This story really touched my heart and I laughed and cried. It is an emotional read but Nikki does it so well. She is just a talented writer in this genre.
Tess needed a temporary place to stay for her current job. When she is handed an ad by one of the three meddling town gossips, the curious part of her would not let it go. What she found was so much more than she was expecting.
Brian and his girls needed help but they could not get the help to stay that is until one talented woman curiosity got the better of her. However, when things take a turn for the worse he wonders if they will ever see her again.
OMG you have to grab a copy and have a beautiful journey for two lonely hearts.
Tess is in town for a few months to write songs for a movie being filmed. She enjoys her lifestyle of roaming from place to place, taking odd jobs as she writes and sells her songs. She never settles anywhere for too long. She meets Brian via an ad that is given to her looking for a "Mother". More curious than anything she goes to the address and meets Brian, who in reality is looking for a nanny for his 2 daughters. Tess is offered a job as a live in nanny with the freedom to work on her movie song writing. Feelings bloom between Tess and Brian and when Brian gets some difficult news, Tess is a calming force that helps him and his girls accept the inevitable. A great heart twisting story I highly recommend this book
The three matchmakers are at it again. This was such a cute story at the beginning and then it went into being an emotional read. This family has been through a lot already and now it seems they have more to endure.
Brian is a single Dad with two girls who have issues of their own. Then you through a songwriter into the mix that has her issues. Can they work on their issues together and overcome all the obstacles thrown at them to become a happy family.
Once again Nikki Lynn Barrett shows you that it can be done. Some excellent story telling here. Really enjoyed the book.
September Breeze is the second book in the Cinnamon Bay Romance series, but could easily be read as a stand alone. This story centers around Tess ( a song writter with a past that keeps on the constant move) and Brian (a teacher looking for a nanny for his 2 girls). Enter the Trio and their match making ways!
It normally takes me up to a week to read a book, this one took 2 days! I got so invested in the characters and had such a hard time putting it down. While I would of like the trio to have a larger role in the book, Brian,Tess and the girls characters will pull on your heartstrings all on their own. I recommend this book to anyone who likes small town romances.
This book is so good. It really touched my heart. I laughed and cried at times in the book. I felt so many emotions. Tess is such a giving person and helped to raise her brothers and sister. Something terrible happened to her that has made her change her life plans and not stay in one place. She is a song writer in Cinnamon Bay working on a movie. She is given a strange ad that she can’t help checking out. This is how she meets Brian and his two daughters Tatum and Alice. She becomes the nanny for the two girls with a place to live while working on the movie. The girls are so mature for their age, but you can’t help but love them. Brian has his problems he has to handle, but Tess is the family’s greatest supporter. There are some touching scenes that had me crying. I loved the book, and strongly encourage you to read it. I voluntarily read an Advanced Reader’s Copy of this book.
September Breeze is an emotional story at times, but I’m so glad I had the chance to read it. I’m loving these Cinnamon Bay books and I plan on reading all of them. This story is centered around Tess and Brian. She’s a songwriter that’s in town to work on an upcoming movie. He’s a single dad, that teaches math and coaches. Tess meets him when the resident matchmakers make sure she sees an ad in the paper and her curiosity gets her to go check out the house. I loved these characters so much, especially Alice and Tessa, Brian’s two daughters. I won’t leave any spoilers, but I recommend this book to everyone that loves an emotional read.
I received a free ARC of this book and am voluntarily writing my honest review.
Oh my goodness, this book has so many feels in it! Just when I think Ms. Barrett's writing can't get any better, she releases a new book that becomes an instant favorite. Becoming a nanny for two girls was not part of Tess's plan when she arrived in Cinnamon Bay. Once she takes the job, bonds are immediately formed. Throughout this book there are lessons of patience, acceptance, love, and forgiveness. This author makes weaving a seamless story with multiple layers look easy. She truly is a master of her craft.
I really enjoyed this book. This book has all the feels, it made me happy, laugh and sometimes cry. I loved these characters Brian and Tess. Tess is hired as the nanny for his girls that can be a handful. This become more than a job for her but can she stick around to see where things go or will she feel trapped and need to move on. Don’t miss this heartwarming book.
September Breeze was one of those books that sucks you right in and you just can't put it down. I loved Tess and Brian's chemistry. My emotions were all over the place. I absolutely loved it, and I highly recommend it.
I was hooked on this book from the beginning and I couldn’t put it down. It’s another NLB great and I have to say that Brian is my new favorite male lead. This book was absolutely fantastic and I absolutely loved getting to be in Tess and Brian’s world.
I loved this book, Tess with her fears, Brian with his. Finding their way over insecurities, struggling to try moving past their losses, and pain, to find each other. Great secondary characters and positive over coming of obstacles. I was frustrated Tess couldn't or wouldn't just grab at a future with the Taylor clan. Well worth the wait. Recommended.
A fabulous story as always, Nikki Lynn Barrett never disappoints. I loved the characters & the story line, it made me smile & brought tears to my eyes. This is a story that I will gladly read again as it touched my heart in so many different ways.
This is a story that had hit me in all the feels. I laughed. I cried. I was a bit upset. Single father and his girls trying to find him a wife. A girl with past she is running from. They collide. They both help each other overcome their pasts and see the future. This is a very well written story, great characters, the hens or golden girls are back. There was so much fun. A mist must read.
I have to say, I am fairly new to Nikki Lynn Barrett books but if this is an example of her work, she will be on my go to list. I thoroughly enjoyed the way the author dealt with some difficult and emotional issues. There are a myriad of different personalities each dealing with a traumatic event in their past. Tess and Brian won me over from the very beginning and I loved Alice & Tatum. Cinnamon Bay and the trio of matchmakers truly make the reader feel like moving there and being a part of the community.
I've been looking to write in a shared world for a LONG time, and last year, the planning began. Now, you can read the Cinnamon Bay books! Each can be read as a stand-alone!
September Breeze has been a story in my head since 2008. After many modifications and versions, I'm so excited for it to be out. It's a special story and I had fun writing it.
I hope you enjoy Tess and Brian's story, and that you give all of the Cinnamon Bay stories a chance!
September Breeze, is the second book of the Cinnamon Bay series. You will read about a widowed father Brian Taylor, his two daughters Alice and Tatum and a song writer Tess Dixon. Tess at a young age had to raise her siblings but, something horrible happens and it forces Tess to change her life around and can't stay in one place too long and she doesn't use her real last name. Brian's daughters have problems since they watched their mother die and Tatum has not spoken a word in 4 years and Alice is adventurous wild. A big chance to stay on set to write songs while a movie is being filmed is what brings her to Cinnamon Bay, North Carolina. While sitting at the coffee shop " Brewed with a View" a local woman over hears Tess' living situation and hands her an add telling her it is for a Nanny job but, Tess can't find anything about a Nanny job. All see saw an ad for "Wife and Mom Wanted" and Tess thought it was a strange ad. Tess was a bit curious and decided she was just going to check out the house but, while she is looking out walks Brian and that is how Tess ends up meeting Brian and his girls. Tess does take the Nanny job but, shes let's Brian know she would only be temporary because when the movie was done being filmed she would be moving on. Tess ends changing the Taylor's live big time. Then one day Brian goes to get his eyes checked as they have been bothering him and a Specialist told Brian he has Retinitis Pigmentosa which meant he could loose his eye sight some or completely. Now Brian has to figure out how this will effect his and his girls future. Tess decided she was going to help Brian cope with his diagnosis. Brian has feelings for Tess and Tess cares about Brian and his girls but, knows she can't stay do to her past. What is going to happen between Brian, Tess, Alice and Tatum?? You really really need to read this book to find out how things turn out. I truly loved this book!!!!
A great read about feelings.. Tess Dixon is a songwriter working for a movie set in Cinnamon Bay. She arrives finding no accommodation ahs been provided for her but a local woman offers her a solution with a live in job position to a small family. Curious, she goes to the house and accidently lands herself the job. She promises the father she wont stay long in the position. But over time feelings grow and health issues appear, making Tess question her want to leave. Can she stick to the plan or will her feelings make her want to stay after all? A great read. Well developed plot with twists and turns that I just couldn't put down. Well developed characters like Tess determined but unsure underneath or Brian as a good father but with his worries underneath. Great cast of supporting characters like the sweet and silent Tatum or loud and boisterous Alice or the three eccentric ladies in Birdie, Hattie and Trixie I loved the visual detail throughout the novel like with the house itself small and tucked away but homely with the cypress trees and white stone. Or the scenes at the beach with the sea calm and blue as a space away from it all for the family wonderfully written. Or the storm later on with its sights and sounds so vivid its as if you're actually there beautifully written. The switch of perspectives was written well to display both sides of the story and was easy to follow with names in the sections and asterisks to separate them. I also liked the Mary Poppins feel to the story like the strange advert and a nanny coming from nowhere who loves to travel and also the want to leave which were all excellent additions to the story. I also loved the respect toward peope with disabilities in the novel like with Tatum' mutism just accepted and not criticised. I also loved the portrayal of visual impairment in the novel later on with Brian's worries and fears emotive and relatable and perfectly written. Overall, a great read and I would give it five stars.
Welcome back to Cinnamon Bay, North Carolina. Brewed from a View is a coffee shop located on the Boardwalk. It is here that is three regular customers known as the matchmakers of Cinnamon Bay (Hattie, Trixie and Birdie) come most mornings. A newcomer to town, Tess Dixon who is a songwriter finds herself arrived without her manager making reservations for her. One of matchmakers hands Tess an add for a family looking for a nanny written by two children. Curiosity gets the better of Tess and she arrives at the house to be greeted by Brian Taylor, the widowed father of two children, Alice and Tatum. Tess has experience having raised her brothers and sisters but then something happened that made Tess change her way of life plus she uses another last name. She is always on the move with her song writing job so being in one place while writing will be different. One of the children is a dare devil while the other has not spoken since the loss of their mother. Will Tess be able to handle these. Two children? Will the children let Tess into their lives to help them? To top the situation off, Brian develops an eye disorder which will eventually leave him blind? How will he handle this? How will the children handle this situation? What about Tess? Her job songwriting will end in September. How will the Cinnamon Bay Magic play into The lives of Tess and this family. Talent writing with a cast of artfully drawn characters each having a special need of their own will keep the reader entranced from the first to the last word. I volunteered to read September Breeze. Thanks to the author for the opportunity. My opinion is voluntary and my own.
September Breeze was a great 5 star read and book 2 in the Cinnamon Bay series.
Tess arrives in Cinnamon Bay and finds that she doesn’t have a place to stay during her short stay in town. She is a songwriter hired to write songs for a movie that is filming in the area. When someone overhears her conversation she is given an ad looking for a nanny, she decides to go to the house out of curiosity.
Tess ends up meeting Brian and his girls and they love her. She gets the job and starts to grow very close to all three of them very quickly. Tess tells them that she will only be there temporarily, when she finds out what happened to Brian’s wife she starts to understand the girls better. When Brian gets some news that could change things for him, Tess steps in and offers to help him.
Brian and Tess start to have feelings for each other, but she can’t stay no matter what her heart is saying. She can’t stay in one spot too long or he will find her. He continues to call her just to let her know he hasn’t forgotten about her. When she gets a call from home she rushes back, will she return to Brian and the girls or will she move on once again?
Overall I really loved the story and all of the characters, even the three nosy matchmaker ladies that brought them together. The way that Tess connected with Brian and her girls was great. The author does a great job of pulling you right in with her writing and I couldn’t stop reading until I was done. My emotions were all over the place. I look forward to reading more from this series and author. This is going in my must reads for 2019. 1-click and get started on this great series today.
September Breeze (Cinnamon Bay Romance Book 2) By: Nikki Lynn Barrett 5 out of 5 stars
The story September Breeze (Cinnamon Bay Romance Book 2) by Nikki Lynn Barrett is a truly awesome and amazing romance book. It grabbed my attention from the very beginning, and I found myself reading far into the night in order to finish. It is a story that had my emotions going up and down the entire time I was reading it. I loved reading about the characters of Tess Dixon and Brian Taylor. Tess is a songwriter who needs a place to stay. She is someone who doesn’t put down roots and the time that she spends in Cinnamon Bay will be temporary. When given an ad that has her curiosity peaked, she goes to the address. It is there that she meets Brian. Brian is a widower with two daughters. He is needing someone to help take care of them. That is how he meets Tess. She is always on the move. He knows that she has said she is not going to stay. They both, however, find that they have a mutual attraction that only gets stronger. When feelings are formed, and attachments are made will Tess still leave once her time in Cinnamon Bay is done? What does the future hold for Tess and Brian? Read this book to find out. I grew to care about Tess and Brian with each chapter that I read and found myself wanting them to find happiness. I also enjoyed reading about Brian’s daughters and the other additional characters in the story. The book has both heartbreaking and heartwarming moments. It is a story that I found myself not wanting to put down until I had finished. I highly recommend reading it.
Love on the Boardwalk #1 Shannyn Leah, Connie Dave, Brea Viragh, Monique McDonell, Holly Cortelyou, & Nikki Lynn Barrett May 2019 202 pages Contemporary Romance Provided by Author (S.L.) ⭐⭐⭐⭐
The cover is cute, though it seems like it’s taken up by the authors’ names a lot. Perhaps there was a different way to do that?
The story is fun and interesting. Eva has returned to her hometown to run her late grandmother’s coffee shop. She’s making some changes, including removing the magic drink of Coffee Amour from the menu because she doesn’t believe in its magic. But she faces lots of flak from the town and all the believers in the drink.
Mac is just looking to find some answers to his family history and get out of town. But he needs some coffee to boost his research and before he knows what’s hit him he and Eva have both sipped some of the magic elixir and love is in the air. Well, it’s not love, initially. But something’s definitely up. And the whole town is buzzing about it helped by the three little old ladies that seem to constantly occupy the corner table in Coffee with a View, Eva’s coffee shop.
The pace is brisk and the story is fun in this small town by the sea. I enjoyed it so much that I immediately bought book two, September Breeze by Nikki Lynn Barrett; and when I was done with that, I bought book three, Playing Doctor by Monique McDonell. Both books were just as good as Love on the Boardwalk and fit right into the series. I’m looking forward to reading all seven books in this series. Recommended.
I enjoyed this book immensely. I couldn't put it down. It was so well done. I loved the characters in this book. The characters were very well developed. The main characters in this book are Brian Taylor and his daughters, Tatum and Alice and Tess Dixon. Brian Taylor and his daughters had gone through so much. The girls' Mother was some what of a Dare Devil. She and the girls had been on an outing and the mother stepped near a cliff to take a selfie and to take a call and then fell to her death. The girls witnessed this and were traumatized from the experience. Tatum couldn't talk and communicated by writing on a pad. Alice was somewhat of a Dare Devil like her Mother and was constantly doing risky things that scared her Father for her safety. She also liked to pull pranks and was constantly getting into scuffles at school. Tess had some issues she was dealing with too. However these four characters come together with a little assistance from Birdie, Trixie, and Hattie to provide the support that each of them need to overcome their tragedies. It was definitely an emotional read. I felt what they felt. I was surprised to find very little foul language if any and there were no overly graphic love scenes. The attraction that Brian Taylor and Tess Dixon had for one another was definitely described. However it was very well done and allowed for our imaginations to fill in the rest. Overall it was just plain good storytelling. I felt the pace of the book was good. Its what made this book such a good page turner. I can't say enough good about this book.
I am already in love with this series! In September Breeze, we meet Brian, a hometown math teacher, and Tess, a wandering songwriter who has no intention of creating roots. The magic of Cinnamon Bay (along with a little help from the town matchmaker’s!) bring these two together in an emotional story of love, heartbreak, and healing.
Brian is a widowed father of two young girls who, even several years later, are having a very difficult time dealing with their mother’s death. He is in desperate need of a live-in nanny to help with the girls, but the girls have their own ideas about who he should be looking for. Tess is looking for a temporary place to stay and a part time job while in town writing songs for a movie and can’t pass up the perfect job offer! Will the magic of Cinnamon Bay bring these two together, or will their tragic pasts keep them apart forever?
This one brings out all the feels! Be prepared for laughing, crying, sometimes frustration in wanting to tell them what to do and not being able to, and a complete rollercoaster of emotions as you fall in love with this small town and its quirky characters! Definitely well deserving of my 5 stars!
September Breeze is the 2nd book in the Cinnamon Bay Series by Nikki Lynn Barrett. Each book in the series can be read as a stand-alone as each contains a complete story. I had not read any work by this author before but I was intrigued by the blurb and thought that this book would be just my type. Thankfully, I was right as I loved this book. The one thing I loved so much about this book was the characters. Not only the main characters Brian and Tess (who are both awesome) but Brian’s 2 daughters Tatum and Alice both totally stole my heart. Added to these are the aptly named ‘trio of trouble’. You will love the bowling alley scene (not giving anything away but this scene is hilarious). I loved that the characters were down to earth, ‘normal’ people with everyday lives, making the story much more realistic. This story grabbed me from the very beginning and didn’t let me go. It took me on an amazing roller coaster journey. There are moments which will make you cry, laugh, scream and go through every emotion possible. It is a beautiful romance novel that I would thoroughly recommend to others. Having read this book I’m eager to read more of Nikki Lynn Barrett’s work.
