Luther versus the UOJ Pietists: Justification by Faith

Rate this book
Synodical Conference Lutherans have labored under the delusion that their Universal Objective Justification is ancient and orthodox. Instead, the doctrine is recent, Pietistic, and the essence of Enthusiasm. Historical and Biblical research show why this is true, how Knapp rather than Walther is the key Synodical Conference theologian.

I was blessed with educational opportunities - a great public school system, Augustana College in Rock Island, where I met my wife Christina. We went to Canada for my seminary and her graduate work in German. Yale gave me the chance to earn an STM from excellent professors - Dahl, Malherbe, and Holmer. I also heard Roland Bainton lecture and corrsponded with him. After ordination I was given a full scholarship for the PhD program in theology at Notre Dame. I began publishing articles in Canada in the 1970s and began publishing books later.

Dr. Jackson traces Universal Objective Justification (UOJ) from its roots in early Pietism to the present. Contrary to this Luther taught justification by faith through the Means of Grace. Chapter 1 gives an historical introduction, Chapter 2 speaks of the Efficacy of the Word. Chapter 3 Luther Taught Justification by Faith through the Means of Grace, and Chapter 4 does an exegetical study on justification. Chapter 5: Justification By Faith Assumes The Efficacy of the Word, while Chapter 6 shows that Pietism is Enthusiasm. Chapter 7: Samuel Huber, Post-Concord Universalism and Chapter 8 Stephan's Halle Pietism Became Walther's Universal Objective Justification. Chapter 9 wraps it all up with a Summary of the Doctrinal Issue. Appendix 1: False Claims of UOJ, Appendix 2 Justification By Faith, Appendix 3 Efficacy Catechism, Appendix 4 The Gospel In A Few Simple Steps. Dr. Jackson clearly lays out his evidence and makes his point easy for all to understand. Whether you agree or disagree with Dr. Jackson, I think this book is one of the "must-reads" on this topic.
