Kilts & Kisses #4

Viking's Claim

Rate this book
Never kiss the devil. Not even if he’s sinfully gorgeous. Or impossible to resist.
And certainly not when he’s got you tied and bound, and completely at his mercy.
… Uh oh .

I thought I had it bad when I was on my way to be married off to some weasley little lord to appease my family. But that’s before I’m taken by the most fearsome, vicious, alpha Viking to sail the seas.

Tor Odinson is a beast of a man. A savage. A bloodthirsty warrior and ravager. Huge , growly, dominant…and completely and utterly beautiful. I’m supposed to fear him, not want him. I’m supposed to resist him, not crave him.

…Yeah, whoops .

Because once he throws me over his shoulder, and lays his hands on me, and ties me to bed, and makes me feel things I’ve never even dreamed of, I know “what I’m supposed to do” is the last thing I’ll be doing when it comes to Tor.

I know it’s wrong to desire a man like him. But if this is a sin, I’m already damned.

I fell for the devil, and now, I want it all .

Completely over the top, growly af, tropes for DAYS, and wildly historically inaccurate. As in, if you’re a history major, I’m so, so sorry. not responsible for lost or ripped bodices. Reader beware.

As with all my books, this one is safe, with no cheating, and a HEA guaranteed.

Go A-Viking!

I swear by Odin’s spear… “Vikings Claim” … is a real, bona fide panty raider! Professionally written, incredibly fast-paced and totally inappropriate, this little tongue-in-cheek tale will have you wanting a berserker of your very own and asking the GINORMOUS question on every woman’s mind… what’s under that animal pelt!... Ok, maybe I’m the only one with that on my mind… Told from dual perspectives, “Vikings Claim” is teeming with action (oh, yeah!), suspense and a bit of intrigue. So, hold on tight to your bodices ladies… the Norse marauder is about to go a-Viking and sure to rip open bodices everywhere with his… MASSIVELY HUGE… broadsword!

Quite unexpectedly, Rhona finds herself traveling in a carriage to wed the pompous little Lord Chauntleroy… that very day. Wandering away from the carriage and her armed guards during a brief respite, Rhona stumbles onto a coastal inlet, spotting several Viking ships just off shore. Suddenly, a HUGE beast of a man steps out of the trees with a MASSIVE… sword in his BIG hands (and you know what they say about a man with BIG hands...) and throws her over his shoulder. Rhona recognizes the man as Tor Odinson, the most feared, dangerous Viking marauder in the world as well as the man who has plundered a toe-curling kiss from her not once… but twice! Suddenly, Rhona finds herself captured as the Viking brute tosses her over his shoulder and boards a Viking ship. However, Tor is weary of going a-Viking and has a plan to settle his people on the Scottish coast.

When the Viking ship arrives at its destination, Rhona is taken ashore and guided through the woods to the Viking camp. Sitting on a throne in the middle of the camp is the mighty savage Tor with his BIG… broadsword… leaning against his knee (yep, BIG hands equal a BIG broadsword!). The HUGE, powerful, beastly, Viking brute wants innocent Rhona and pulls her into his dimly lit tent. Unlike the Scottish Lords, Tor is a pagan and has no intention of preserving Rhona’s virtue until a Viking wedding can take place. Rhona intentionally entices Tor and when he lets his guard down, bonks him on the head with a hefty piece of firewood. Running through the woods, Rhona is easily captured again by Tor and he makes her… um… come… back to camp with him. Although a virgin, Rhona is also a bad girl… and just thought of the filthy savage makes her… hungry for more. So, when Tor tosses her on his bed of furs, he proceeds to restrain Rhona’s hands behind her, anchored to the tent’s ceiling, leaving Rhona helpless and on her knees... as Tor says… such a greedy girl!

To find out what happens next such as; will Tor wed Rhona if he’s allowed to sample the goods first? Does Little Lord Chauntleroy attempt to rescue Rhona from the Viking raider or will the pompous little Lord simply consider her reputation forever tarnished? Will the Scottish Highlanders acquiesce to a Viking marauder living amongst them or will Tor be driven out of Scotland… never to return, AND what’s really under that animal pelt!?... From the dirty, filthy, smutty mind of Madison Faye, “Vikings Claim” is one of those stories that dirty girls everywhere… do not want to miss! Although the fourth and final entry in the series, “Vikings Claim” reads as a standalone novella.

Warning: Only those into savage, beastly brutes with a… GINORMOUSLY HUGE … sword 😉… should read this novella.

This was an okay read.

If I’m being honest it felt more like a first draft than a finished book.

It goes pretty much as expected. I was never really committed to either the story or the characters.

"Viking's Claim" is the story of Freya and Tor.

The massive and terrifyingly beautiful Tor Odinson steps from the trees, scowling at the other men before he turns to me. His eyes blaze with dark grey fire, piercing right into me and taking my breath away as he steps towards me, pushing aside the others.
“Mine,” he snarls in accented English as he moves closer.

Hot. HOT HOT HOT HOT HOT!

As our h is forced to wed her shitty betrothed, she is saved from a life of misery when a wild Viking lord, who had kissed her in the past, kidnaps her and claims her..everywhere.

Super sexy taboo read with likable MCs, minimal drama and loads of kinky lovemaking.

“Open your little cunt for me and let me fill it with my cock. Let me fuck my wife how she deserves to be fucked.”

Love me some Viking smut!

The cover had not escaped my notice, but a friend of mine saw this intriguing little addition to the book description:

"Completely over the top, growly af, tropes for DAYS, and wildly historically inaccurate. As in, if you’re a history major, I’m so, so sorry. Warning: not responsible for lost or ripped bodices. Reader beware."

While my friend is not a stickler for historical accuracy, I am, but I thought it was refreshing that an author had the honesty to admit it. I almost DNF at 18%; first, because of the innumerable, mostly pointless, and exceedingly annoying italics. They took me out of the story every time at the very beginning; I was eventually able to ignore them. The writing itself was another matter. VIKING'S CLAIM reads like a rough first draft, and I'm not convinced that the author is entirely fluent in English because of some bizarre word combinations, misused words, and oddities such as "hard-little". It seems the idea was to get the story on "paper" as quickly as possible with little regard to syntax, sentence structure, grammar, punctuation, even vocabulary which is rudimentary, unimaginative, and repetitive. And it seems to take so many words to say so very little. I expected typos, there are a lot of them, but alas I've seen worse, however their number increased as we neared the end. That's not counting the multiple above-mentioned language issues.

So, Rhona Gowen was about to "marry the frilly Highland Lord Chauntleroy" (that name was good for a few giggles) when wild, savage, enormous Vikings arrive in the Scottish village, intent on pillaging and all that stuff that marauding Vikings do. Instead, gorgeous, huge Tor Odinson kidnaps Rhona. Then they have sex, lots of sex and dirty talk; there are complications (there was a nice twist there), and they lived happily ever after. I found it interesting though that Tor is a killer, a thief (eh, he's a Viking!) but not a manwhore. The story is told in first-person alternate POVs, which are well done; the voices are very distinctive.

There are a few bright humorous touches, Freya sounds awesome, and the sex scenes, while unoriginal, are numerous and explicit. I found the book very painful to read, but I soldiered on, since it's short. It most definitely is "growly af " because I don't think Tor ever spoke: he growls, grunts, purrs a few times, and groans, while Rhona whimpers, shivers, gasps, and moans. "I grin at her cheek, growlingly lowly as she giggles.". I guess that qualifies as "growly af ".The lack of historical accuracy wasn't problematic in the least, neither was the OTT - but the growling certainly was.

I saved a few delectable nuggets to show you what I mean:

"And I’ll keep taking you, again and again, until you’re bred with my heir." (this is troubling).

"with a really similar face as Freya"

"And I fade to sleep. // That is, until I wake up." (Isn't it to be expected?).

"pale white" (I wonder what dark white looks like).

My solution eventually was to read as quickly as possible, to absorb the ideas, and try not to notice too much how it was written. To read as quickly as it was written, I guess. I paid for it, after all. So, what do I think of VIKING'S CLAIM? I don't know. The writing was so hard to digest, it overshadowed everything else. The author obviously lacks the resources to properly translate her ideas into words; I know that Tor and Rhona were more than what I read, but the words just weren't there. I would definitely not read this book again. Will I read anything else by Madison Faye? Possibly Freya's story and/or to deem if the author's skills have improved.

Viking's Claim by Madison Faye is book four in the Kilts & Kisses Series. This is the story of Tor and Rhona. This can be a standalone book but there is intertwine characters from the previous books.
Rhona has been sent to marry Lord Chauntleroy, someone she doesn't want to marry but of course she doesn't have much choice. A chance Kiss with Tor has her mind on him but of course nothing can come of it...right. Tor has wanted Rhona from first site much less first kiss.
Quick Hot Read!!

It's a matter of time before their passion and love gets the best out of each other.

𝙼𝚢 𝚃𝚑𝚘𝚞𝚐𝚑𝚝𝚜 : Oh My Ovaries!! Hot hot hot🔥🔥🔥🔥. Vikings Claim clashes with severe steam than any other books out there. Rules are bent in taking each other right there. Tor Odinson is extremely savage, ruthless, obsessive and dangerously in love with Rhona. On the other hand, our girl simply can not forget her admirer. There's intense drama in the story, allies are made, boundaries tested and eventually, our couple paves their way through the thin fibres of lust.

VIKINGS CLAIM doesn't have any unwilling heroine or a torturer hero. It's an insta love story, attractive and consuming. Rhona willingly gives all of herself to her man. She runs. He chases. A game so exciting, thrilling, anticipating.!

I was about to say the last in this series but there is another!! This was a easy fast pace book and i was dying to read about Vikings!!! Now if you don't wanna be bothered by insta you can pass or virgins.. (every book i read is virgins.. so im blank that out lol)

Rhona like the girls before her was to be wed to some lord her family arrange but she has been secretly had her first and second kiss stolen and has been on the radar of a deadly Brute Viking who finally is taking his woman after waiting so long. Also i enjoyed how Tor kinda grew from plundering and stealing to wanting to settle down in his own kingdom by the shore...

I was tiny bit confused as to Tor letting two of his men kinda manhandled his woman but then break another mans hand when he flirted and tried to take his woman? The other eh i had was leaving your girl tied up thinking a fight is happening outside your tent (even if it wasn't) kinda glad Rhona snapped back at him that moment wish she stayed mad longer.. atleast give him the silent treatment.. but beside that i enjoyed it.

No cheating, no ow mentions of om the arranged marriage, secondary charas, celabit guy and virgin gal

I have simply loved every book in this series so far and this fast over the top alphas and each female has been a strong character too.

Rhona is travelling to Lord Chauntleroy the man that she is betrothed too, but the man she wants is the fearsome Viking Tor Odinson, she has been thinking of him since he stole her first kiss. But knowing she must do her duty to her family she is prepared to honour the agreement, that is until she is kidnapped by the very man that is haunting her dreams could she really get the man she wants or will it all be snatched away from her?

Tor Odinson stormed Dungow Castle and found a treasure he wasn’t expecting to find, Rhona Gowan stole his heart the kiss he stole from her, he knows that she is betrothed to another and on her way to marry him he knows that he must take action before it’s too late and kidnaps her for himself. But when she is stolen from him he knows he will have to join forces with the very men he has counted as his enemy for years. Will they help him rescue Rhona or will he really have lost her forever.

This is a fast paced, action packed steam filled read that you cannot put down and you really don’t want to end…… Highly recommended book and series and I am hoping for so many more inaccurate historical stories from Ms Faye. Safe and smutty read.

This review contains spoilers! Beware!

This was the book in the series I was most excited about, because I luuuuuurve some Norse/Viking goodness. But here, I kept getting angry at Tor.

He kidnaps her because he’s so totally OTT that he must have her, knows that other men will want her, then leaves her on the boat and goes to revel with his people while some of his men bring her ashore? After she’s leered at by one of his men who he must protect her from, he leaves her alone in his tent? Tied up no less? I can’t understand that in the slightest. He made me so mad because he seemed to take for granted her safety, which didn’t seem OTT to me.

I do love how taken with her he was, and how he resolved the conflicts in their way. Ultimately, this was a great series and I’m glad to have read it. Maybe I’m just too critical of this last story because of how much I love a good Viking romance. I received an ARC in exchange for an honest review, and the opinions here are my own.

Vikings claim is book four in the kilts and kisses series. This story is short, fast paced and an enjoyable read. I read this book in one sitting and was satisfied throughout. I found the writing style easy to follow, the characters likeable and the storyline action packed. I liked Rhona. She was being forced into an arranged marriage she didn’t want to go through with. Despite not wanting to, she did intend on going through with it. The problem she had was that she couldn’t stop thinking about a hot and mysterious Viking that she had stolen moments with. Tor is going after his woman. Rhona has been his from the moment he saw her and it is finally time to claim her for himself.
The chemistry between Tor and Rhona is clear to see and I liked them as a couple. The passion between them is through the roof and their connection is undeniable.
The storyline for this book is easy to follow and an enjoyable read. I cannot wait for more books from this series.

This was my first book by this author and it will definitely be my last.
There is so much wrong with this attempt of a book, it is nauseating for a reader.
As a critic on the other hand, professional or unprofessional, this work is a wet dream come true.

I will only give you a few of my thoughts about this book.

The story is unimaginative, the little of the story there is.
The characters are superficial and stereotypical. No depth whatsoever.
The writing style and the limited vocabulary presented in this book, along with all the repetitions and no substance at all, i was really wondering if this is a real book or a school assignment because it is hard to believe that this writing style is from and for adults.
We have maybe 5% plot and 95% sex.
The sex is described in so many repetitive sentences it is ridiculous.

The whole affair is a waste of time.

Another solid read!

This is the 4th book in the series and follows Rhona and the legendary Tor Odinson, the head Viking known to sack and pillage villages and is definitely considered the bag guy.

He met Rhona in Hamish’ castle in book 1 when he tried to conquer it but instead of getting the Castle, he sees Rhona and without a word walks up to her and kisses her. He knows from that moment on that he must have her and in this book, he goes for her and claims her.

And once again, I love how these books always brings all four friends back together in the end (now with all their husbands!)

Totally smutty. Total panty melter and some bondage thrown in! There were some inconsistencies in this book but whatever... still super fun to read!

Madison Faye is killing it with the Kilts & Kisses series... delivering another naughty, sexy, sweet, fast, over the top romance that'll have your heart racing and leave you needing a dry pair of panties. Viking's Claim was really good... intense, unputdownable, devourable (is that even a word?!), and the perfect addition to this highly addicting series.

I love Madison because I always know what I'm gonna get. Safe. Easy. Short. And a guaranteed multiple happy endings if ya know what I mean.

I highly recommend this book.

Sensuous, full of suspense, and STEAM, this Phenomenal Viking ROMANCE is a MUST-READ!
WOW! Madison Faye has packed a PUNCH into this Viking romance novella! It felt so much more in-depth, with characters more well-developed than a novella would normally allow, but in Madison Faye’s masterful prose “VIKING’S CLAIM” took my breath away. With page-turning action and Faye’s ability to weave an intricate picture using dual narration to build her characters into living breathing entities, both Rhona and Tor captured my attention and my imagination. “VIKING’S CLAIM” is going into the FAVORITES collection on my Kindle to be read and reread, it is truly that good! This one is a romance reader’s romance – with all of the seduction, suspense, and steam that romance readers expect from a GREAT romance story. If it wasn’t a novella, “VIKING’S CLAIM” would have earned the 5+STARS recommendation, but because of its length, I can only award the 4+STARs. However, “VIKING’S CLAIM” is worth the hours of entertainment and the price of admission at any cost. I STRONGLY suggest you purchase your copy of “VIKING’S CLAIM” today! Happy pages! 😉

Ugh

For the love of God, learn to use italics correctly. This is ridiculous. Why has no proofreader or editor fixed this by now? Every Madison Faye book I've read has excessive and misused italicized words. I only keep reading them because I like the stories most of the time, but the errors and italics are very distracting and detract from the enjoyment of the book.

"Mess" and "messy" are overused in all of her books that I've read, and I've read a lot. 1. That sounds really gross and not good dirty or sexy. Just nasty. 2. Learn some new words. I feel like I'm reading nearly the same story repeatedly because the guys all act and talk the same.

It is completely ridiculous that everyone is cool with Tor now. He attacked his now wife's friend's (well, her husband's) castle and killed a lot of their men. Rhonda is an awful friend for starting anything with anyone who did that. I understand it was Tor's culture or job or whatever, but Rhona kissing him and stuff was a betrayal to her friend. None of it made sense.

There errors and left out words, which is common for this author. I keep hoping she will improve, but she hasn't.

I don't really recommend this book or this series. It's not well done.

This cover is...A-MAZING! This upcoming release, aka my-new-must-read, just rose to the top of my TBR List! Look forward to reading this beauty....:)

Viking's Claim (ARC) was graciously provided to me by Give Me Books PR for an honest review. I have voluntarily read this book and have provided my honest opinion.

A Viking Warrior's Love Story..

WOOOOAH..I think it's safe to say that Khal Drogo and Dax Lahn will have to share the spotlight of Mighty Warriors with another Alpha Warrior.  Viking Tor Odinson, an inherently good and beautiful man with a tender loving heart, surely fits the bill as such a mighty warrior..

YESSS!! I loved my most recent read of an upcoming release that I will proudly admit that I may have squealed just a wee bit, at first glance, at a predictably great read.  With it's gorgeous and breath-taking cover, visions of George C. Martin and Kristie Ashley quickly came to mind as their massive alpha characters are always stellar and have many readers waiting with abated breath in hopes of more from these types of characters..  Enter Viking Tor Odinson..

Viking's Claim, by Madison Faye, is an incredibly sexy, exciting, humorous, intense, and, heart-warming read.  This addicting story over-flows with larger-than-life Vikings and Highlanders of the gorgeously described scenic beauty of Scotland.  A story equally brimming with heart-felt decisions from warriors that had this reader frequently swooning as these actions are certainly not the norm of someone seemingly so brutal.

GAH!  It is beyond clear that this new book has so much to it that it is a recommended read from this reader.  From its steamy and gripping storyline, to its brave and dedicated characters; many of whom make cameos from within the series, to its alluring setting, this welcomed take on a historical romance is one that I really enjoyed.

That being said, however, while I could-not-stop-reading, I thought further development to the plot, character background, as well as further editing, would have been icing on the cake.

On the other hand, Viking's Claim, by Madison Faye, as a whole, is an exciting, sizzling, and, heart-warming read that I really recommend, and, reading additional books by this author is definitely in the horizon, as I really had liked it..:)

This is the fourth book in this series. They can be read as standalones but I think they are better read in order. Rhona is the last of her friends to be married. She is to be married to a horrible man and she would do anything not to marry him but that’s not up to her. She meets the Viking Tor at her friend’s wedding when he came to take his castle. She hasn’t been able to stop thinking about him. Tor can’t stop thinking about her either and his going to take what he wants. He wants Rhona to be his bride and so she shall. I love this book. Tor and Rhona are great together. She is feisty and gives and good as he does. But, as much as she fights him, she wants him. This book has romance, danger and more. Tor will be forced to make some alliances in order to get to keep Rhona. Her husband to be isn’t going to give up so easily. I hope there will be more books in this series. I highly recommend this whole series. They aren’t your average historical romance. They are steamy short reads with fantastic characters.

Finally in book 4 of Kilts and Kisses we get to know what has been secretly going on between Tor and Rhona. Ever since the first mention of this dangerous, sexy Viking I have been dying to read his and Rhona’s story. Rhona is a sweet lass who seems for the most part very levelheaded and knows exactly what she wants. Tor is all the bad boy we knew him to be based on past stories told of him. Yet he also surprised me with his change of heart later in the book. Granted I am thankful he wasn’t being changed from the bad boy to the good little Lord personalities he so obviously dislikes. Instead, this combination of bad boy Viking wanting a change in his life turned out to be a well-balanced. After all, what kind of story would it be if he were just like all the other gentlemen? Viking’s Claim is by far the best book in the Kilt and Kisses series and I wish it didn’t have to end. I hope whatever comes next will be just as enjoyable as this story was.

This is what I was craving with all my lust 😂 The moment when Tor, the Viking conqueror, finally claimed the damsel for his dirty desires.

The fourth novella in the series deals with Rhona, one of the four Scottish friends, who is to be married but has secretly lit the furious lust of an enemy, the brutal Viking everyone fears.

Luckily for us, this giant warrior is full of the right kind of stormy passion that he unleashes on the damsel with many juicy, steamy examples. Kidnapping and rope games ahead!

Wicked ravaging aplenty, wild Vikings doing all sorts of untamed things, a scorned lord in seek of revenge and exciting batles to win the day. I think this is the best of Kilts and Kisses series so far!

Viking's Claim by Madison Faye is book 4 in the Kilts & Kisses series. This is Tor and Rhona's story.
Tor Odinson is the leader of the Vikings who have continued around the Scottish shores , causing discontent whenever possible. Thing is Tor didn't expect to have his own heart stolen on the Scottish shores. Rhona Gowan is the lass who has stolen his heart and he wants her but she is betrothed to another. When he finds out she's due to marry imminently, he kidnaps her and takes her off. Will Rhona and Tor's love story have a HEA or will it end in disaster? Ms. Faye didn't disappoint and her historical romance was both steamy and full of feels and insta-love.

Madison Faye has given her readers another stay-up-all-night-and-read-just-one-more-page book. Viking's Claim has just the right amount of drama, twists, off-the-charts chemistry, and of course love and a HEA. It is so freaking hot, you'll be left in a puddle of lust. 🔥

I voluntarily reviewed an advance reader copy of this book.

I'm really in to Viking books at the moment and this definitely hit the right spots for me.
Tor Ordinson is a mighty warrior but he will give it all up for the women he loves.
All he has to do now is find and claim her.

This series was fast instant love which is fine for me at times. I found each book to be similar with just different characters. I was looking for short reads in between my longer books so these fit the bill.

Another fun story in this series. Lots of hotness! I really enjoyed the rescue part of the story and can’t wait to see if the other Vikings get their own stories!
