For over 200 years the immortal creature, Adam Frankenstein, has roamed the earth looking to earn a soul and his right to die. Now, a U.S. Marshal in Houston, Texas he wakes in the middle of nowhere, near death. As the Grim Reaper reaches out to grant Adam's wish to end his immortal journey Adam must refuse.
The only love he has ever known is his immortal dog, Bella. She is missing. Adam knows she's been taken by evil men who run a dog fighting ring. His worry isn't that Bella would be killed, but that it would be discovered that she cannot die, no matter what they do to her.
Adam's partner, U.S. Marshal Rebecca Hughes, is his moral compass, his touchstone and now, the keeper of his secret. Adam and Rebecca work together to find Bella before she's forced to into the ring. Before it's discovered that she can't be killed.
Adam Dog Fight has some mature themes and profanity.

A great quick read that introduces you to Sheila English's reinvention of Frankenstein and a what if he was still alive scenario. Adam Frankenstein chooses to keep his long seemingly endless existence to save the one creature who has been loyal and loved him unconditionally, his immortal dog, Bella. After seeing Adam walking after wounds that should have killed him Rebecca Hughes has no choice but to believe him when he discloses his history. She represents a true partner, someone who can accept him and appreciate who he is as a person and not the monster legend. She also has a strong moral fiber and has no problem calling her partner out when he seems to step away from her accepted belief. The two work well together as they fight to save Bella and other dogs from a dog fighting ring and bring those running it, the real monsters to justice. Well written, well drawn, story! Look forward to more about Adam Frankenstein, Rebecca Hughes, and Bella, in the comics and in novels! If you want more back story on Adam I highly recommend two short story collections Ms English has written...Adam Frankenstein: A Collection of Short Stories and Adam Frankenstein: Search for a Soul. A Collection of Short Stories
Love this version of the story. I've read all of her Frankenstein books and this one is just awesome. It brings the story to life. The characters are more real, the drawings are spot on. Can't wait to see if she'll come out with more of her stories like this.
As comic books go, this one is very well-drawn with excellent black-and-white artwork. The main character. Adam Frankenstein is immortal and has been seeking death for over a century, but now he is a U.S. Marshall and charged with shutting down a dog-fighting ring. But they have Adam's own dog, Bella. And like him, she's immortal too. The secret is at risk. The dog is doomed to being a bait dog for eternity. And the story starts with Adam lying dead in the road. Wonderful comic. The only problem, it's too short. I want more. And you will too.
