So this is basically version two of the same story as her first book, Sizzle. You have two male best friends, one of whom is bi and hasn't told the other guy. One of the guy's is bossy in the bedroom. One of the guys moves into the other guy's house due to financial troubles. The woman has a crappy parent to deal with and just like in the first book blurts out things out loud during sex without realizing it. Like "Sizzle", all of the emotional weight is centered on the budding romance between the fellas, with the woman just kind of there. There are no weighty talks, no sharing of any kind, beyond body fluid between the woman and the guys, with the "I love you's" coming out of nowhere.
The writing is decent, although the dialogue was wittier in "Sizzle". Unfortunately this book, like the first, also has numerous continuity errors. The Prologue is labeled "A few weeks before Christmas" (early December?) and picks up "Four months later" where instead of it being early (March?), summer has come earlier. Just a week later it is mid summer. Meanwhile Anna's sister is in her last semester of high school. James has been angry with family for ten years since he was heading off to college (18?) which makes him (28?) but he is described as having graduated a year ago so (23?). There are also lots of other weird hiccups like the bizarre use of the phrase "that's all she wrote" while describing a sex scene which weirdly also appeared in a sex scene in "Sizzle". There are also various plot points that are just dropped in and then forgotten. I couldn't decide if the adoption storyline or the suddenly there is a dog thing was more annoying.
It looks like the next installment (and really this is a series) looks like it might have a different dynamic so I might check it out. Hopefully the author will do a better job with the editing.
The things I listen to because I have a Scribd account 🙈
I can’t say exactly why I started with this one but I jumped in and throughly enjoyed myself with yet another MMF swords will be crossed Hallmark Smut. It’s my easy escape with knowing exactly how things will end.
While there were some plot holes, I did actually feel like there was a decent story and conclusion for each character and bonus probably one of the best topping scenes I’ve experienced. I’m still new so don’t judge if you’ve read better, just share the recommendation plz 🍆🍆🌮
Great way to listen the workday away but probably wouldn’t have read otherwise.
Anna and James work together and one night when they were out drinking things get a little carried away when his friend Ben shows up and the three of them end up back at James's place. While drinking they place a dirty version of truth or dare until they just get on with it. However before they can have sex James and Ben pass out and Anna leaves after she gets cleaned up. Weeks later Anna runs into James when she is supposed to be meeting someone from online only what she doesn't know is its really James. However he is afraid she'll think he is a stalker so he convinces Ben to say its him. Sparks fly between the three of them again and they start hanging out and things get heated between them. Soon they are sleeping together and when Ben's uncle finds out he gives him an ultimatum his job or them. Will he pick his relationship with James and Anna? What will Anna do when she learns who the real online date was?
This is a great story that will captivate you from beginning to end. the chemistry between them is blazing hot. This is a well written and very entertaining story. I would recommend this book to any book lover.
Definitely just here for the hot MMF smut. The story has a lot of similarities to the first book (2 guy best friends fall for same girl). Audiobook is good and a quick hot listen.
You’re never too old to learn more about yourself.
Anna spent one slightly tipsy night with Ben and James before her job ended, and they lost touch. James, the foodie of the group, had been talking with someone online and discovered it’s Anna, but claims it’s Ben after remembering how her ex was. Ben’s been thinking about that night and the signs James had been giving, but James has also never given any indication he’s bi. So they give a triad relationship a try, with James not telling Anna the truth. But things start to heat up, and Ben tries to get James to tell the truth by admitting he’s been with men in the past. So what happens when the lie comes out?
Ben, James, and Anna get their happy ending in this standalone book in a series.
I needed an MMF after a couple lack-luster why choose, so I don’t know if I enjoyed this more because I got bored in the last book, or I enjoyed this book more than the first. I did appreciate that James admitted early that he wasn’t sure about his sexuality, but wanted to try with Ben. I don't think Ben would have spoken up sooner about his feelings, as there was the potential for him to get hurt, and his friendship with James would have been ruined. I do wonder if Anna left before her sister did for college, or if she did end up waiting even though she started packing right away.
While Ms. Whitley Green is a brand spanking new Author to me, she has completely captivated me with her creative writing style in this release, Smoke. I adore a great romance as much as the next person, and when I review the books I read, I try to not reveal too much. I wouldn't want to ruin a book for you. I can tell you that I was incredibly impressed with her talent in story telling.
This MMF release centers around three individuals; Anna, James and Ben. Anna & James are coworkers, and spend an unforgettable experience together with Ben as well. After an evening together, they all end up at James's place and a naughty game that sparks desires none of them could of dreamed of. A few weeks after Anna snuck out on them... they reunite as a coincidence, or is it? You see, the men just can't let her go and they come up with a plan that takes this story up quite a few notches in the heat level. As time goes by, they form a bond that get stronger by the day, until someone finds out what they're doing in their private time, and an ultimatum is issued. I do not want to give too much of this amazing storyline away, however, there is so much chemistry between these three well-crafted characters, that you just want them to end up together. What Ms. Green has provided us with is a steamy and smoking hot release, that you won't be able to put down. I know that I couldn't. Will they get their happily ever after? Yes. But how they get to it, is an experience to read. I highly encourage all fans of romance to pick up a copy of this impeccable book and enjoy it just as I have. I am truly impressed and will definitely be following Ms. Greene's work in the future.
I was incredibly fortunate to have requested an advanced reader's copy of Smoke in exchange for my honest opinion and I highly recommend reading this book. I found it to be extremely well crafted and I can not wait to see what she'll think of next.
So this was the second book for the Sizzle series. Now the author did disclaim this as a standalone, but is also part of the series yet not necessarily the second part of the series. SO thats that out there.
It was very well written and the humor, tiffs and like the first book the romance was superb. The sex ladies, was hot hot hot as F**K… Baby get those extra nickers out… mmmm.. cos its steaming in the room peopleee.. 🫣
Back to the book, I actually found this book a better story compared to the first book. Even though they were very similar stories (story line), but I still found the dynamics of James and Ben better than Eliot and Alex, it seems to be they had more secrets going on in their lives. Anna (banana) was Eliot’s (from the first book) manager when he still had his restaurant and she has moved on to working at a hotel when the restaurant closed. James is Eliots accountant that handled his books and Ben is James best friend. Anna, James and Ben meet up before the restaurant closes and had a night (or half the night of the threesome type) and they loose contact for a couple of months. Then when James has a blind date and asks Ben to be his wing man, cos James doesn’t know if the blind date is a guy or girl. They meet up at a favorite deli and guess what, it turns out that its Anna who is the blind date. Now I think that this book is all about the details of the story and not the big picture. If we are talking about MMF relationship for the whole series then its just about going to be the same, right! But these two stories details are different, yet the same. So that’s what I find is the great part of these books in this series. The plus is I am giving my mind a little rest from the heavy romancing and going on to some light reading. I am on to the next now… hmmm🤤 Loved both and I am sure I am going to enjoy the others. Enjoy ladies and gents. 😉
There was way too much outside drama in this story. Way too much. I get the need for conflict, but when it overpowers the central plot it becomes distracting. So I skipped most of it and only read anything with just the 2 guys or all 3 of them. And the huge lie that almost broke them up was laughable to me.
Very quickly I was annoyed by Lucy and the flighty mother, and then stupid Uncle Jo (which just seemed a bit much, actually) and Caleb. It was obvious how many things were in there to set up future stories for this series (which I won't be reading as none of the secondary characters interested me in the least). Joelle and her men, and Drew and Cooper....
If there had been more about the 3 main characters I could have given this more stars. But it was really difficult to see why James and Ben fell so in love with Anna. Ben and James I get, they definitely had love there. But Anna seemed like an afterthought at times.
The sex scenes were hot, but they were hotter between Ben and James. Again, Anna seemed almost unnecessary.
"I’m a healthy adult woman. I have needs and fantasies like anybody else. There’s a big, fat line between fantasy and reality… but at some point in the last hour, that line’s gotten a little blurry."
Ah, it's that kind of TV. Excellent.
It starts with a once in a life sexual experience that turns into a lifestyle, with angst, miscommunication, and side characters playing their part.
The leads have a deeply annoying habit of 'thinking' something that they're actually saying out loud. Once would be ok, it happens frequently enough that I question their mental capability at this point.
While I liked the characters for SMOKE this was basically the exact same set up as the previous book in the series. Two heroes who are best friends; one of them is bisexual but has never come out to his friend because he has a crush on him. The heroine is in the food industry and they're both attracted to her and she’s struggling to care for a parent. The relationship starts with a completely unnecessary miscommunication and lie and I'm just not interested in reading the same story over again.
Content Warning: up to what I read: Anna’s ex stalked her when they broke up and she had to get a restraining order; Ben’s uncle is verbally abusive and controls Ben’s housing and work options.
I don’t even remember reading the first book in this series. But this was a cute read. She’s a manager for a hotel. Ben is a landscaper. And James is an accountant. The secondary characters never really get what they deserve. They just serve to advance the almost conflict-free story line.
The three main characters all share talking out loud when they aren’t paying attention in common. That was annoying. There was a lot of beer drinking. And there was a lot of blushing. All three of them were blushers. Ugh.
Note: a landscaper wouldn’t rent office space. They’d be bette riff renting a gated storage unit and a good lock and a cell phone.
So hot! There were so many more sex scenes in this book than the first. James and Ben have been best friends for years. James has had a thing for Anna for years. One night, the 3 of them have a 3 some, but then Anna acts like it never happened and they lose touch. Ben and James never talk about it, but both of them start to think of each other more than friends. They finally get Anna back with them and they start a sexual relationship. The men get into it with one another right away and it s pretty hot. James told a dumb lie and eventually Anna finds out about it and takes off. They eventually get back together and live hea.
I really liked this! It's not your typical second chance romance, in such a good way! What starts out as a drunken game to truth and dare turns into a threesome they never expected. Not entirely comfortable afterwards, Anna needs time to think things over. In the mean time Ben and James get themselves caught up in a fib about a blind date set up with her...and when she decides she wants to try with both of them, they can't agree on when to come clean with her. Their story is a funny, passionate and bumpy road until they can get their HEA.
This was a pretty Good story and the 2 male main characters were likeable and the female character was ok. The "big" lie was pretty lame if you ask me. Big deal that that Ben wasn't the online chat person, but James all the time. All she had to do was listen and not run out. But I still thought it was a pretty explainable lie and nothing so big. Other than that it was an ok storyline. I have read her other books and the chemistry between the mc's was pretty good. Would recommend her other books. I could take this one or leave it.
I voluntarily reviewed an advanced reader copy of this book. That surely is one twisted story based on one big lie that in the end could break everything James, Ben and Anna worked for. Nevertheless it's a very sweet and seriously hot story of three people starting a relationship when the outside world isn't approving. I loved reading this one. The writing style is very good and the story itself adds up perfectly. Great.
Oh just love this stuff. Yes the second book is somewhat the same with the two guys and one girl plot. But such different story line obviously. Maybe I over think this stuff but clearly more people are to shy to admit they are bi and these books just show it. Yes a 3 way relationship is also rare or just no one talks about it. But I love it. If you can make it work go for it. I listened to this on audio again and I love the audio books. Started the third already!
Ben, Anna and James This was a good read, a lil on the farfetched side but still entertaining. Ben and James are best friends and Anna and James work together. One night together leaves them all secretly wanting more. Being blog buddies leads them back in each others life for the better until the lie comes out. I really don't like Ben's uncle. I'm glad the triad worked out their mess and got it together.💖💖
I am so used to dark romance and I kept waiting for something bad bad to happen for them to realize they needed to grovel and fix things. And wildly, I was ok with the reality that the solution was just a little personal growth and accountability. I love dark romance, but I also really enjoyed this cozy "could be anyone" vibe this series has too. If you are new to why choose (especially with MM) this series is a great launching point.
This is the second book that I have read by this author and I liked it just as much as the first. If you are not interested in reading about two men and one woman then you should not go any further with this book because you are going to get a bit of that with this read. I enjoyed the characters as well as the storyline and thought it was written well.
Pointless and incomplete story plots that acted a lot like filler. Decently anticlimactic, the female was the most annoying. Comes off as square but then is all about a ménage with two others. Her moms a deadbeat and her sister just is stupid. Idk like I said a lot of pointless plot.
The little white lie was kinda lame. I didn't see the big deal and thought it seemed like something that should have been laughed over not blown up to epic drama proportions. The characters were good but the reach to make the "little white lie" a deal breaker for them all was weak and made the story lesser overall.
This followed the exact same format as the first book. The best friend and then pretty girl ooooo. Even showing a reference to the next book being the the best friends format again. UGH. It made the first book charming but now it’s just un original. I did love Ben but realizing that it was exactly the same format as the first book tainted the book.
Anna and James had worked together and one night when their work group is out James invites Ben to meet them. They are not done for the night so they head back to James for drinks but pass out so Anna heads home.
She has been chatting online with a guy that asks to meet up and she runs into James at the meet up location and he has Ben with him.
This book starts off hot and doesn't let up. The narrators were all perfect. Though I didn't love that they lied to Ana for so long, I did like how quickly the issue was resolved. Also the drama with all their families was handled so well by the author. I really enjoyed this steamy book.
Spice: 🌶️🌶️🌶️ Trope: RH, friends to lovers, close proximity, bi-awakening Tension: 1/5 normal stuff like family’s religious bias attempting to hurt the triad. A small lie gets blown out of proportion, but nothing that makes you fret as a reader Pro: multi pov, hea, nice characters, there was an easy to follow plot that wasn’t sex driven, easy read
I am not a fan of lies and also i would have preferred to see more one on one relationship development.... i like to know that all sides of the relationship are strong. Otherwise it was okay
Triple POV. Some issues with book 1 were fixed with book 2 (fewer typos, less awkward writing). Some sexy scenes and some humor. I seriously hope that the “bad” guy from the cooking class is not one of the main characters in book 3.
This story actually had substance and a plot which is rare in menage romance. Most of the time authors want it to be all about the bedroom which is a huge part of romance, dont get me wrong BUT I want a story to go along with it and this author delivered
