Shadow Chasing The last man Carla Walker is going to count on is a cop—as far as her love life’s concerned. Her dad is a police officer, so she’s already decided that’s not the kind of future she wants. She knows about the long hours, the unpredictable calls, the danger. Carla meets Philip Garrison on vacation, and it’s more than a holiday fling. She falls for him. Hard. And then she learns he’s a cop…
Yesterday Once More Three years ago, Julie Houser fled from Wichita, Kansas—and left her husband-to-be practically standing at the altar. Julie couldn’t face the vast disparity between her own middle-class background and his family’s wealth, not to mention his mother’s disapproval. But she never got over Daniel, and now she’s back, hoping she can convince him to give marriage another chance.

Both books had a lot of back and forth- we can be together, we can never overcome the obstacles before us. I loved the second one more- Yesterday Once More. Love the happy endings they always have and that Debbie Macomber does such a great job with the storytelling!
for the life of me I could NOT find this book on goodreads..so I entered this in myself..it stars two stories of a second look at love and they are both beautiful.
I have read a lot of her books and just now picked up on the Christian vibe. I confess, I didn’t finish it and I won’t be reading more of hers. I just don’t enjoy the preachiness.
I would have given this one 2.5 stars if it was an option, only because of the 2nd story in the book.
The first story, Shadow Chasing was awful. I really didn't like Carla, the main character. She really, really didn't want to date a cop, and had a ridiculous reaction to finding out that the guy she meets is a cop. But at the same time, she keeps interacting with him, even when they return home. Then once they do decide to date or marry whatever, she completely freaks out that he has been shot even though she hasn't been told that at all by his partner. Ugh. I was relieved when this one was over.
The 2nd book was a bit better in that I didn't really hate the lead Julie. She was a bit more likable, even though Daniel was kind of a jerk and not very agreeable. I mean from the beginning, you knew they would end up being in love again, but it wasn't a horrible read to get to that point.
I've really liked the other books by Debbie Macomber, maybe it's just her stand alone stories that are bad?
I'm not one to put the back of the book stuff on reviews... but this one doesn't have anyone on it.... so here it is....
Sometimes to find love you have to try again…

Yesterday Once More
Three years ago, Julie Houser fled from Wichita, Kansas—and left her husband-to-be practically standing at the altar. Shadow Chasing (5 Stars) This story was fabulous! I loved the characters and just how everything flowed so well. This was a very light and clean romance (just kissing). I liked that it was a very fast read so if you wanted to take it to the beach or something this would be a great book to take with you.
Yesterday Once More (1 Star) This one after reading about two pages. Just didn't grab me the way Shadow Chasing did. So I decided to DNF it.
yikes this was so baaaaad and am not even sorry to say that. The writing was awful, the characters were awful, the plot was awful and on top of all that even the romance was awful. The characters had nothing in common, they had zero chemistry, but somehow ended up falling in love after 2 days???? like whaaat!! Not to mention the amount of times that they fought, "broke up" and got back together 3 seconds later as if nothing had happened was so annyoing. Bleh don't read this. (:
Interesting story with a curve to it in the storyline. Two people in vacation, taking chances, yet one not sure they really want to commit for one specific reason. Not sure I could believe love would stop over one issue like this but then I wouldn’t know, I don’t have that phobia like Carla did. But I sure would have liked to have known what happened to her roommate and her love that she found on vacation. That was left open ended.
Shadow Chasing made me crazy. Carla was so whiny it was like a teenage drama/toddler meltdown over and over again. I love Debbie Macomber so I pushed through it hoping it got better but truly it never did.
Yesterday Once More was wonderful, loved the characters and didn’t want to put it down.
This is a combination of 2 books. The second story was more my style and reminded me why I like Debbie Macomber for a fun, lighthearted read. The first story was grating. I don’t know that I’d recommend this book, but it was decent.
Two stories in one Book. I read the paper back. Shadow Chasing and Yesterday Once More. Enjoyed both of them very much. Taking a chance on new love and returning to an old Love.
This was 2 books in 1....Shadow Chasing and Yesterday Once More. Both I really liked. Great for a quick read after I just took almost a month reading a much longer book.
Enjoyed both the stories 'Shadow Chasing' and 'Yesterday Once More' and great. Highly recommend reading both stories of possible romance connection and issues.
