Life for Isamu Taylor is now a Cinderella story that includes a Manhattan loft, a new position in the hottest LGBT film production company in New York City, and an upcoming wedding in Bryant Park to his very own handsome prince.

He’s come a long way from that struggling film student with ratty sneakers and shaggy hair. Isamu is now living an urbanite’s fairy tale with that happily ever after just around a bustling city street corner.

But as all wedding planners know, even the best laid plans seem to go awry, and Isamu and Brian’s wedding is no exception. But love – both old and new – is in the air, so nothing can go too badly, right?

Lordy be that was hot! I think this series has been an utter triumph for Vicki and I absolutely loved seeing Isamu and Brian get their happy ever after.

There's lots of laughs and excitement on the way before the cherry blossoms are sprinkled and the sake drunk but all comes together in delightful epilogue to the Takes of Bryant Park series.

Now we're getting more with Devon and Caiden and I can't wait!

"Nine Small Sips" is the second part of the "Tales of Bryant" series and it features Isamu and Brian again. I liked this a little bit more than the first book and that's probably because this time we had to do with an established couple.

The first book ended with a proposal and the second starts a couple weeks before the big day with all the anxiety and the craziness that goes with the event and everything that could go wrong actually going that way to spice things up. Because, you know, it would have been such a relaxing day otherwise......

Brian and Isamu are getting ready to legally merge their lives even though they are already as tight as they can be. Isamu has some insecurities to overcome about him being good enough for someone like Brian and Brian for his part has to deal with his parents after fifteen years of radio silence.

Center stage in their big day is, of course, their wedding planner, Adrian, and his lorgnette. You thought it would be the grooms, right? Wrong! It's fabulous Adrian with his mimosas, his swooning, his bigger than Bryant Park personality. He was a little tiring in big doses but in small ones he was a great addition.

There are plenty of side characters for such a short story and I liked that about the book. Isamu's mother is present again and this time his grandmother is also making an appearance coming all the way from Japan. Their chins are at the wedding as well!

There is also a new love in the air and there's obviously another book coming about the new couple. I'm not telling who they are though...

I hope there's another part coming about Isamu and Brian and how married life is treating them, but I'm also not holding my breath because I didn't see an indication of it happening any time soon.

What a wonderful wrap up for Isamu and Brian but we haven't seen the last of this group because hey...Isamu and Brain have some interesting friends...full review to follow soonish...

You are cordially invited to Bryant Park...

It's only been a few months since I was last in Bryant Park where I first met Isamu and Brian and watched as they did their courtship dance and ultimately fell in love and now I'm going back to attend their wedding...you all need to come with me because just like these two men it's going to be a beautiful and unique event filled with love, laughter and a collection of interesting family and friends.

If you ask anyone who's ever gotten married I'm pretty sure they would be able to tell you at least one 'wedding disaster' story that at the time was simply the 'end of the world' and they were just going to 'die' because of it. I know I've done this twice and even though my second wedding was a very small and private event about as low key as you can get without doing the '2 witnesses and city hall' route and yet there are still more than a few stories from it that we laugh about now but back then...well, what can I say the world was ending! and I didn't have Brian and Isamu's...well, let's just affectionately call him Brian and Isamu's 'drama llama' wedding planner.

For anyone who's read 'Tales of Bryant' the first part of this story I really can't imagine that you won't love this absolutely perfect wrap-up to Isamu and Brian's relationship. It's filled with wedding drama and family drama of the entertaining variety and capped off with a small but totally inebriated bachelor party and through-out it all we get a bit more of a peek into Brian's past and a better understanding of what makes him tick the way he does.

Although I originally found the character of Brian to be a bit stand-offish I still liked him, mostly because of how much he so obviously adored Isamu but now at what's not really the end of their story but another beginning...well, I honestly like Brian even more and for me he's even more perfect for Isamu than I'd thought him to be.

So if you'd like to go to a wedding that's guaranteed to be filled with laughter and love put on your summer best and come join me in Bryant Park for a truly beautiful celebration of love.

Woo. This was one heck of a story lol. I felt like I was watching Bridezillas, only the wedding planners was the zilla. Shew. And Isamu just can’t seem to catch a break from any way he turns. It’s funny, it’s drama and it’s a wedding.
I almost felt bad, well I did really, for Isamu. He was worried sick that his family didn’t love Brian. And with Brian he felt like a kept boy at times. And then it just seemed like they came from such different worlds at times, that he felt like maybe this was just a dream he was having. The truth is, they are very much from different worlds, and although Brian can be haughty a lot, and kind of a prick, he does very much love Isamu. He’s just used to being in control. But with this wedding, he’s trying to get Isamu to understand, he has to stand up for what he wants too. But Isamu isn’t as aggressive as Brian and between the wedding planner, families, and other stuff, he doesn’t know if he’s going to make it much longer without barfing. His nerves are beyond shot and it feels like the gods are conspiring against them. But maybe with a little Japanese magic, things can be turned around again.
Whoooo, I would not ever want to be in Isamu’s shoes. Actually, I wouldn’t be. I would just stab somebody or something and run for it. I can’t handle all that drama. Lol. And the poor guy is just trying to make everyone happy but everyone wants something from him it seems like, and he isn’t a miracle worker. Especially when his wedding planner is pitching a fit in an expensive restaurant. I guess it’s worth it, if you get to be with the spouse of your dreams, but sometimes I think people should just run off to the courthouse and get it over with. lol . No sense in all that drama. But I was happy to see that his family came through for him. He was so worried about his Baba and his mom not being happy for him. They were happy, but just worried about the age difference and the culture difference. They didn’t want Isamu to feel like he doesn’t measure up. He deserves to be treated like a prince and that’s all they want for him.
It’s a sweet wedding story for these two. It’s filled with drama yes, but the end result is worth it. It has it’s fun points and no relationship comes without a little bit of disagreements. But when you truly love someone, it’s worth the work. I like this series. It’s been a fun one.

A Joyfully Jay review.

If you have been reading the Tales of Bryant series by V.L. Locey, then you will remember that the last novella left us on the cusp of the wedding between Isamu, the young film student, and Brian, the fabulously wealthy, but emotionally aloof, corporate giant who loves him. In this latest release, Nine Small Sips, wedding week has arrived. From trying to keep their flamboyant and emotional wedding planner, Adrian, from imploding over the latest changes they need to make to their ceremony, and the sudden arrival of the only other man Brian has ever admitted to loving, Isamu is practically ready to get full on hysterical and call things off before they even begin. Each day seems to bring yet another road block or unwanted surprise into their lives and it will take all of Brian’s patience to keep Isamu calm enough to finally walk down the aisle.

After reading #1 I was thrilled to start this one. (I did read #1 again, awesome)

Brian and Isamu will get married. In Bryant park of course! Between hard working, they have to plan. Luckily they have a wedding planner Adrian... a guy stressed out by every change in the planning.

Isamu’s grandmother will come over from Japan. Both men want some Japanese tradition added to their wedding day. Yes, Adrian has stressed again lol.
It’s not easy to satisfy everyone and Isamu is trying so hard. He doesn’t want to disappoint Brian and brat about it. Brian is the ever caring mature one in this relationship and that’s why it works so well between them. I loved both dearly.

What a lovely story. Brian and Isamu are steamy together. All vividly exposed on paper, you can drool by it. This read was funny, emotional and sexy. Both had great characteristics and all explicitly developed to feel involved. Past, tradition and future awesome are woven into this reading.
It was all so wonderful, I loved this story hard.

I liked this, but I wish I had read Tales of Bryant first. I was a bit lost at times.

Other than that, it was a lovely well written story about the events of the final week leading up to Isamu and Bryan’s wedding.

Having read V.L. Locey's "Tales of Bryant" with its sweet short vignettes telling Isamu and Brian's love story, I was looking forward to their wedding in "Nine Small Sips". But .... I cannot completely love this book since I can't get past Brian being a total jerk.

Now, granted Brian and Isamu are madly in love with one another and sexually they burn up the sheets every time they are together, and damn it, their wedding does turn out perfectly after they overcome a lot of angst from their families. But Brian makes various comments throughout that I find very demeaning to Isamu and completely unnecessary:
In telling Isamu to deal with their histronic wedding planner, Brian says "Just handle this like a man. You're going to have to grow some damn fuzz on your balls sometime if you ever want to be a successful director."

"Did you wake up and decide being a dick was next on your agenda?"

"Now stop being so fucking melodramatic."

Brian didn't feel the need to be in constant contact during the day. It was a sign of a weak and insecure man if they acted clingy.
Otherwise, I liked the plot, loved the sizzling chemistry between the two, thought the story moved along at a perfect pace, and that honeymoon was definitely worth the wait. This would have been a 4.5 star rating if it hadn't been for Brian's .... asshat-ery. 3.5 stars.

I hadn’t read Tales of Bryant first, so I’ll admit I did feel like I was missing a little of the backstory about Isamu and Brian’s relationship. Despite this, I enjoyed this quick read about all the stress and drama that leads up to their wedding. Between dealing with an overdramatic wedding-planner, a grandmother from Japan who insists some of their wedding rituals be incorporated into the wedding, and Brian’s non-accepting parents suddenly wanting an invitation, the couple has a lot to deal with.

I thought Brian was a little insecure when it came to Isamu’s boss, which seems to be in contrast with how he seems to be most of the time, which is confident and in control. Isamu’s reactions to things seemed a bit over the top at times, but I liked how Brian made him stand up to the wedding planner, which seemed to give him a bit more confidence and helped him feel a little more in control.

I’m looking forward to seeing what happens between Isamu’s boss, Caiden, and his friend, Devon, who were introduced at the wedding. That looks like it’s going to be an interesting tale.

I recommend it to anyone who has read the previous book, Tales of Bryant. Even though I haven’t read it, this book feels like it’s a good conclusion to Brian and Isamu’s tale.

OMG Isamu and Brian are so adorable, I'm loving every words, every chapter, and everything Isamu and Brian shared to the world.
This book cannot read as stand alone, since this is actually Isamu and Brian's wedding preparation.
The chaos, the insecure feeling, and don't worry about the steam!
Brian's crazy about Isamu, and he made sure Isamu knew how much he love Isamu.
I enjoyed Nine Small Sips, and cannot wait for Devon and C's story!

Anyone who has planned a wedding will enjoy V.L. Locey’s ‘Nine Small Sips’, where a couple faces the snags every ceremony undergoes. Though this novel can be read as a standalone, fans of Tales of Bryant will be glad to watch Isamu and Brian grow through the stress.

While Brian’s family is estranged, Isamu’s family is overly involved and quite demanding. Thus we learn Brian, might be older, wealthier, and world-wise, but is actually more fragile than his young fiancé. Isamu, a people-pleasing Japanese-American film school graduate, may have difficulty saying “no,” but he’s confident in love. Together they face bi-cultural integration issues, irascible wedding planners and looming deadlines.

Family drama seems similar, regardless of nationality, starting with Isamu’s Grandma, who insists on performing the tea ceremony, though it throws off their allotted four-hour time slot. Of course, work stress invariably increases. But Locey wows us, as we watch each man challenge himself – from sheer consideration for the other.

Plus, she paints exquisitely intimate scenes to demonstrate the men’s blooming equality. “If he was letting his needy side out, I was more than happy to lay there all night with him,” Isamu thinks of his fiancé.

Brian and Isamu’s eroticism is some of the best I’ve read, too scorching to get through most review sites. But read this ordinary detail from Locey and speculate how hot the scenes might be. “The meat of my thighs caught on the counter making a rude kind of squeak as he pulled my ass to the edge of the counter.”

We’re kept smiling, as Locey notes Japanese stoicism. “’You’ve been reading your mother’s chin again,’” Brian tells Isamu because the culture is so buttoned down emotions can only escape at the jaw. Her cast of minor characters are also fascinating and fully drawn. Greeting his grandma, Brian thinks, “She was so frail. It was like hugging a tender fall leaf.”

Nine Small Sips is simply a terrific sequel. And it leaves us hungry to learn the outcome of several other characters. Hopefully the next installment arrives quickly!

This long-awaited follow-up to Tales of Bryant continues the May-December romance of Brian and Isamu (pronounced E-Saw-Moo according to Tales) and does not disappoint.

Readers spend more time with our two vastly-different MCs, enjoying Isamu’s snark and feeling more understanding of Brian’s iciness after learning in Tales his history.

This novel also introduces hysterical wedding planner Adrian, who brings comic relief. That contrast is important to balance the frequent angst-ing and panicking that Isamu does.

Readers are reacquainted with Caiden Dell (Isamu’s boss) and Devon (Isamu’s fellow student) and are introduced to Isamu’s parents and Baba (grandmother), all of whom combine to make this story richer, more realistic and, ultimately, lead to a happier ending. These characters hovering throughout the story also enable Locey to include a couple cringe-worthy scenes involving parents which most readers will empathize with.

Despite all this extensive character development, Locey doesn’t forget to spice things up; the couples’ sexual exploits continue to be hot and creative (& may or may not continue to involve video cameras; I’m not spoiling the fun).

Personally, I still struggle somewhat with Brian — while he worked hard to woo Isamu and does treat him noticeably differently than others, there are still times he does not speak kindly him. This is atypical in romance novels but provides a more realistic portrayal of relationship.

Overall, I enjoyed this book immensely and felt satisfied with the way things were wrapped up for this couple. I’m glad that we are not leaving the world of Bryant and that there are plans for another tale from the neighborhood.

Independent reviewer for Archaeolibrarian, I was gifted my copy of this book.

This is NOT a stand alone, you really MUST read Tales of Bryant before this one, it is a continuation of Isamu and Brian’s story.

Brian and Isamu have a wedding coming up, and with an over sensitive-to-change wedding planner, a grandmother who demands traditions and a job that could take Isamu away from Brian so soon after their wedding, things are not going to plan!

Again, only the fact that Brian does not have a say is the only fault I can find with this book!

Adrian, the wedding planner, provides hysterical moments, that made me laugh out loud, cos the man simply does NOT like to change his wedding plans. But as Brian points out, it is NOT Adrian’s wedding, it is Isamu and Brian’s wedding, and Isamu needs to stand his ground.

Isamu’s grandmother and parents provide the serious side to this tale. Baba wants Isamu to embrace his Japanese heritage and include a ceremony that would honour his grandfather. I loved Isamu’s family. While they were still unsure about the age gap, they could see that Brian loves Isamu, and Isamu loves Brian.

We catch up with Isamu’s boss, Canada, oh, sorry, Caiden (love that Brian calls him Canada!) and with Isamu’s friend, Devon. Devon and Caiden have instant and powerful attraction, and I hope they get a tale of their own!

Its sexy and steamy in the most sweetest way, not quite as sweet as Tales of Bryant but still sugar rush enducing.

Like I said, just the fact that Brian isn’t given a voice, is the only reason I can’t stretch to 5 stars, and I am sorry for that!

4 very good stars

I loved reading Isamu and Brian's HEA.

Let me start by saying that the Tales of Bryant series is best enjoyed by reading the books in order. While it might be OK to read this as a standalone you will have missed important background information about Isamu and Brian's relationship.

In my review of book one, Tales of Bryant, I said that Brian was a bit of a jerk. In Nine Small Sips I think he finally redeems himself by bending over backwards to give Isamu the perfect wedding. This is a novella length story – just perfect for reading all in one evening.

Lots of things seem to go wrong or change at the last minute in regards to their wedding plans and it has Isamu acting like bridezilla. It's a romance so of course everything works out in the end, which is the most important thing. In between all of the wedding preparation Isamu and Brian manage to make time for lots of sexy shenanigans that almost set my e-reader on fire. 😊

I'm happy that there will be another book in this series about two secondary characters from this book. A nice thing to look forward to in 2020!

An advanced copy of this book was provided to me but my review was voluntary and not influenced by the author.

I had really enjoyed Tales of Bryant, the story of Isamu and Brian through the seasons, both living an changing and being together. So, I was extremely thrilled to be able to read their follow up story about their wedding.

Isamu and Brian are dealing with an overly obnoxious, loud and demanding wedding planner, Isamu's grandmother and her traditional values, work complications and last minute panic over missing photographers. But still, their love is as strong as it ever was and this short story packs a punch of romance, hot sexy times and the snark and humor that Isamu never fails to provide.

My only critique is that I felt like Brian's dominance and demeaning tone was highlighted in every conversation between he and Isamu. I felt like he was tearing him down and didn't really understand the reasoning behind it.

Clearly this couple is in love and it's always fun to get a glimpse of their HEA as an action packed, well written addition to their original story.

I read this book without first reading Tales of Bryant, so I definitely missed out on a lot. When this one begins, Isamu and Brian are living together, and they're preparing for their upcoming wedding. Isamu's parents and grandmother move in temporarily, which is just one source of Isamu's stress. There are several others as the story progresses.
I love Isamu! He is young and completely in love, and he has no doubts about wanting to spend the rest of his life with Brian. His overactive imagination, though, keeps sending all kinds of doubts into his head. Then there's Brian, who loves Isamu but is often cold and aloof. Yes, there are reasons he is the way he is, but I'll admit that it is aggravating at times. I hope that in the next story (or stories?) in this world, we see more of the growth of both Isamu and Brian, as they adjust to married life. I would like to see Brian open up more to Isamu, while also seeing how the relationship builds for the next couple in line. I will make sure to read the first book before then, so I'm caught up on the history of all the characters involved.

I was so excited when I heard that we'd get to experience the wedding of Isamu and Brian from Tales of Bryant!
Oh what an experience it was! From the "drama queen" wedding planner Adrian, Devon, Isamu's friend and classmate, to Isamu's parents and grandmother. Let's not forget Isamu's boss , whom Brian CANNOT stand. We learn why towards the end of the book.
Oh the drama of planning a wedding while dealing with family and bosses. The details, the anxiety, the decisions and tweakng that must be done to appease all.
This was a wonderful story. I so enjoyed the bouts of "bridezilla" throughout this book and we receive many funny, angst filled and HOT moments as well.
A must read for those who were lucky enough to read Tales of Bryant and fell in love with our boys. American tradition and Japanese traditions are wonderfully intertwined in this love story.
I did not want this to end but newlyweds do need their alone time.

This book is hilarious! My favorite part of it is The Chin, which is almost a side character in the story. It'shereditary, you see, going from Isamu's Baba, his mother and Isamu himself. Very expressive, sometimes it can convey feelings better than words. Depending on the occasion,The Chin can be appraising, worried, quivering, angry or happy, and it cracked me up everytime it was mentioned.
The wedding preparations are really entertaining and it was so much fun to watch Isamu turn into a groomzilla, fight with the wedding planner diva,or seeing him being afraid of his grandmother's judgemental chin.
I laughed all through the book until they eventually make it to the Nine Small Sips ceremony for good fortune.
Light ,full of humor and love, this book is the perfect finale to Brian and Isamu's romance. I loved it!

Brian and Isamu are getting married. In two weeks. Oh my, I love these guys so much. No wedding ever goes smoothly. Disasters abound with unexpected job offers, old loves, an overly dramatic mimosa swilling wedding planner, and Isamu's grandmother arriving from Japan. But there's no use crying over spilt olive oil. This is TrueLove and nothing will get in the way of the weeding of the year, not even lemon flavoured shots.

The writing is on point, the side characters are well rounded and the leads are still adorable and madly hot together. And while things went awry and Isamu in particular had the occasional wobble, this is ultimately a joyful story with the love these have for each other shining through in every touch.

Highly recommended and I can't wait until 2020 to see if Devon finds his prince charming.

From that review: Nine Small Sips (A Tales Of Bryant Wedding) by V.L. Locey is such a wonderful joy of a story to read.  The wedding story followup to Tales of Bryant this is exactly the story we not only want to read but need to read.  It has depth where we (and the characters)need it too, banter and straight up giggles in all the right and some of the very hysterically wrong places! And two of the most beloved and quite delightful "worried chins" I've every read about!

Isamu and Brian from TALES OF BRYANT are getting married! In Bryant Park, of course! There is a high-strung wedding planner to deal with, a grandma from Japan who has her own ideas about the wedding ceremony, an injured housekeeper, a bachelor party, and a few other surprises that may provide a hitch or two on the way to the altar. You cannot help but love this couple and you’ll enjoy every moment leading up to the nuptials. Lots of feels with plenty of steam and humor, these characters will tug at your heartstrings and keep you smiling. My highest recommendation.

The second book in A Tales of Bryant is just a great as the first and l loved it. V.L. Locey did a tremendous job with one. She really brought all the emotions that Isamu and Brian are feeling throughout the book. The doubts, jealousy, love, mistrust, their past (whether it was good or bad) and loved every word that was jumping off the pages.
Brian was patient with Isamu and had his moments too. The book has a great flow to it and was easy to read. I don't want to leave out the sexy part but it was so hot. Great writing with this one and I'm looking for the next book from this author.

VL Locey's Nine Small Sips is a great follow up for Isamu and Brian. They're getting married, and of course things won't be seamless. But it's funny, sweet, and romantic, even as they deal with non-stop problems.

My favorite quote is "You can't live your life trying to fulfill other people's dreams."

I love Isamu and Brian. They're fantastic together, and are always a ton of fun. Thus, getting a glimpse into their wedding is wonderful. It's a must read if you've been reading the series. And, even better, it has a delicious lead-in to the next book in the series.

I cannot stress how much I loved this. The only way to describe it, is adorable. I loved Isamu and Brian, their interactions are gold. Such a feel good read, that made me smile so much. The dynamic between the two is brilliant, because Isamu totally hasn't realised that he's the one who totally leads Brian by the nose ring. I do hope we get to see more of these two in Canada (whoops, Caiden), and Devon's story. Not a standalone. Believe me, if you like pure romance you must read this and the previous book. Loved them both 😍

Another chance to meet Isamu and Brian, an amazing couple with an age gap to surprise people and enough love to conquer every obstacle.
Once again VL Locey delivered a riveting story on perfectly imperfect people, made all the better thanks to an array of secondary characters that make it even more beautiful.
What I love most about this couple is that they accept each other's flaws and imperfections. As it should be :)

Isamu and Brian met in Bryant Park and now are planning their wedding there. When one thing after another goes wrong will this be a sign they really don't belong together? I hope we some more of them as their is definitely more to thier story

As the wedding is coming together or falling apart, their love will have to be strong enough.

I will admit that I haven't read book one, Tales of Bryant, but I still enjoyed Nine Small Sips. Isamu and Brian were great characters and they were surrounded by an amazing group of secondary characters. I am most definitely going go back and read book one and then read this again but all in all it was a very enjoyable read.

With all the stress and drama that comes with planning a wedding this story is perfection. I loved seeing Isamu and Brian get their HEA with family, chaos, love and so much more.
There were so many sweet, tender moments throughout this tale. There is enough hotness to melt the sheets! There are adorable nuggest along the way, drunk Isamu! Now bring on Devon and Caiden!

The wedding! I enjoyed this one a bit more than the first, and for a shorter book, the story was well fleshed out. I did feel that there were things that could have been delved into more, but overall a good read, with a happy ending I needed the first time around, that left me wanting more, including Devon's story.

Sweet.

I loved this short finale to Isamu and Brian's story. It was sweet and and Isamu was adorable as usual. Even with the small hiccups with the wedding. And I'm wondering about Caiden and Devon now too. Looking forward to it.
