If you use this book to study for the LPIC-1 exams, be sure to follow along on a test computer. If you explore the commands/tools discussed yourself, then you will be well prepared.
I am new to the Linux world and the book showed me many new things to learn. With some extra research (man pages, google, videos) I got the clue about most of the topics.
Unfortunately there are many mistakes in the book (mainly in the Answers to the Review Questions) that make it hard to learn. It cannot be possible to find that many mistakes as a newbie in an educational book. I guess there are some more mistakes in the book that I didn't spot yet as I don't have a clue about it, but there could be many more inside.
My suggestions: Don't read it as a beginner. Read it if you're advanced and want to practice for your LPIC exam.
