If It Weren't for Bad Luck...
When it comes to his love life and his career, bad luck is the only kind of luck David Wolf has. Geesh. Good guy, bad luck. No wonder I feel like he's a relatable character.
This is book 13 in the David Wolf series, and I still can't get enough. I like this guy. He's a long way from perfect, but he is tough, smart, loyal, and decent. He's also a great investigator. He's going to need all of his investigation skills as well as his slim reserve of political skills for this case. The clues all seem to point one way. But is he reading the clues right? This case is crazy and convoluted. But as with all the David Wolf novels, it's full of humanity, heart, wit, and people dedicated to the truth.
This can be read as a stand-alone novel. If you're a big fan of knowing the past history of the characters, though, you'll need to catch the earlier novels. Either way, this is another treat for fans of characters like Joe Pickett, Jack Reacher, Cork O'Connell, or Walt Longmire. If you enjoy crime novels with a strong LEO who seeks justice but isn't afraid to do it on his own terms, David Wolf is a character you want to know.
