The third story in the 'From Mavericks to Married' series is a sexy friends to lovers romance starring hockey coach and single playboy Quinn Rayne. With his two friends Mac and Kade, he’s one step away from some important investors putting their support behind the Vancouver Maverick’s team that they used to play for and now manage together. But his reputation isn’t so family friendly, and it’s in his best interests to appear to be settling down with one woman.
Cal Carter survived an abusive marriage and in her currently widowed state thought she was free of her deceased husbands influence. But the circumstances of his will leave her with a dilemma – she needs to be married to someone else so that the inheritance she doesn’t want will go to the man’s sons instead of her. As luck would have it, Quinn’s need for a committed partner in name only fits perfectly with her need for a marriage of convenience. They’ve been best friends for years and know they can get along in a pretend relationship for as long as it takes to have her inheritance become null and void, and for Quinn and his friends to get the infusion of money they need for the team. They just didn’t count on the blossoming sexual attraction that flares up in close quarters. When their pretend relationship starts to feel pretty real, will they admit that their feelings are changing or stick to being just friends?
I’ve enjoyed every story in this series, but I admit that this one is my favorite. I love friends to lovers stories, especially when the couple end up in a relationship of convenience where they are forced to admit that their feelings for each other aren’t so platonic. It’s not until Quinn and Cal encounter each other at a masked ball and discover that the person they are attracted to is none other than their in-name- only spouse that they have to confront that things are changing. Whether or not they are for the better is the tricky question. Neither of them wants to lose the strong friendship that they’ve had for so many years, and becoming friends with benefits sounds good but could lead to more complications when their marriage ends.
Cal’s background as an abused spouse is treated with sensitivity as she struggles with how to tell Quinn about the reality of her first marriage. She and Quinn had become estranged for a few years during that time, and it’s only now that she’s back in Vancouver and living with him that she wants to tell him the whole truth, including her own ulterior motives for their marriage. As for Quinn, he has some personal issues that have made him hold himself back from getting seriously involved with a woman, and they make him believe he’s not a candidate for a happy ever after with Cal either.
As Cal and Quinn spend time together, their attraction to each other just grows stronger and they share some sexy scenes together. I loved seeing them come to terms with their new feelings and their struggle to balance their friendship with these stronger emotions. We get a lovely happy ending for this couple but not without some rocky times first, and a sweet epilogue with all the couples from the series. I highly recommend this story, and the series as a whole.

Voila une lecture qui s'est avérée être une très agréable surprise!
Cal et Quinn sont amis depuis toujours, mais les retrouvailles après des années sans se voir et les circonstances vont changer leur relation amicale en quelque chose de plus sensuel. Et cela, au risque de se bruler les ailes et de briser une amitié.
Mais quand la passion entre en jeu avec la personne qui vous connait le mieux au monde, comment résister?
J'ai vraiment été happée par cette histoire et je l'ai lue d'une traite. Il n'y a rien de transcendant, et des sujets sérieux sont abordés de manière rapide et peu approfondie, mais parfois ce style de lecture suffit pour passer un bon moment.

This is a friends to lovers book where both have kept secrets from each other, which are eventually spilled. None of which are taken badly by the other.
Cal is a woman who has to build herself back up after a abusive marriage where her husband died five years ago, Quinn is your typical bad boy who likes women and has a reputation he needs to fix.
It is a mutual agreement where both will get what they need they decide to get married and stay just friends. We all know however this will never happen and attraction between the two starts almost immediately.
We get a nice positive ending, which, yes is was able to predict, however it was nice seeing them so happily settled together.

Tai nėra ta knyga, kurią pasiimčiau skaityti ir tai tikrai nėra ta knyga, kurią su mielu noru skaityčiau dar kartą. Praėjusiais metais sudarinėdama sau, savo kolegėms ir draugėms skaitymo iššūkius įrašiau ir punktą, kur kiekviena turi perskaityti "Svajonių romano" knygą su mėnesiu, per kurį gimė.
Mano pasiimtas romanas nedidelis, lengvas, tinkantis vasarai, atostogoms arba tada, kai norisi kažko visiškai lengvo, kad perskaičiau, padėjau ir pamiršau. O ir istorija nieko nenustebins - pagrindiniai veikėjai įsivelia į fiktyvią santuoką ir nenorėdami vienas kitą įsimyli. Autorė bando kalbėti ir apie rimtas problemas, kaip kad smurtą artimoje aplinkoje, bandymą įtikti smurtautojui ir savęs praradimą, tačiau tai tik ganėtinai silpnai paliečiama (nors ko aš čia galiu tikėtis). Yra kelios gana vaizdžiai aprašytos erotinės scenos. Pradžioje planavau skirti vos vienos žvaigždutės įvertinimą, bet romanas poroje vietų privertė nusijuokti (tiksliau daugiau nei poroje, vien tik pagrindinių veikėjų bendravimas koks buvo), tad mano vertinimas pasikeitė.

Labai banalus siužetas apie geriausius draugus, kurie staiga vieną dieną "iš niekur" pajunta trauką. Ir kaip keista tai nutinka abiems kone tuo pat metu. O tada dar netikėtai tokia prasta situacija, kad vyrukui reikėtų vesti, be abejonės mergina pasisiūlo būti ta netikra nuotaka, o pabaigą galite paskaityti ir bet kurioje iš dar kelių šimtų tokio pat tipo istorijų.
Visiškai nieko ypatingo jei skaitote daug meilės romanų. Jei tokius į rankas imate retai, tada galbūt patiks ir nepulsite galvoti, kad skaitėte tai jau dešimtis kartų.
Man pritrūko jausmų, kažkokio rimtesnio veiksmo nei tik stebeilytis vienas į kitą galvojant "kaip norėčiau bučinio" ir panašiai.
Visiškai nieko ypatingo jei skaitote daug meilės romanų. Jei tokius į rankas imate retai, tada galbūt patiks ir nepulsite galvoti, kad skaitėte tai jau dešimtis kartų.

Une romance légère et fun - même si certains sujets plus sérieux sont abordés, mais de manière superficielle - racontant l’histoire de deux amis de toujours, Quinn et Cal, qui, pour des raisons professionnelles et juridiques, décident de se marier, persuadés que cela ne changera rien à leur longue amitié. Mais c’était sans compter sur la passion qui les prend par surprise, redéfinissant les codes de leur relation...
Un divertissement plaisant, sans prétention, qui ne prend pas la tête et détend.

Tikrai labai mėgstu lengvo pobūdžio knygas ir ši knyga viena iš jų. Istorija paprasta ir nesudėtinga, žinoma, nuspėjama, bet tai man ir patinka, kai kalba eina būtent apie tokias knygas. Rašymo stilius labai tvarkingas, nepadrikas.
Tikrai rekomenduoju, jeigu esata lengvų meilės istorijų mylėtojai.

The final story in the Maverick millionaire series. In this final book Quinn needs to marry to calm the press he turns to friend Cal and they plan to marry in name only. However things don't quite work out the way they planned.

Worth reading it flows smoothly through the story of Quinn and Cal, their history together and separately. It was well written and you feel the emotions of the characters as you read. Enjoyed this as a quick read and will look into other books from this author. I won this book in a goodreads giveaway thank you.

Favorite of the series. Both characters were great, they had history, they worked off of each other, both had issues that they had to overcome. All in all, this was a good one.

So when the investor that is the key to Quinn, Mac, and Kade getting ownership of their beloved ice hockey team threatens to back out because of it, they need to clean up his act for him.
Callahan Adams Carter is his best friend and is also Vancouver's darling. She suggests a way to clean up his image, a way that would also help her out too. But what will it do to their close friendship?
This last installment of the three book series 'From Mavericks to Married' is the most romantic of the lot as it unravels an unsuspecting true love story between two soul mates.
Quinn and Cal have known each other since they were children and grown up together. They have always strived to keep the other one in their lives and fought for their friendship together. But they both have secrets from each other now, will they be able to conquer their fears and confide them? They say love conquers all, but will it conquer them too?
I recommend this book to others interested in pure contemporary romance. Mills & Boon have really come upmarket with their latest batch of contemporary authors. Well worth giving them a go if you like a short romantic story!

Can friends become a fake husband and wife without blurring lines? Cal and Quinn have to figure this out..Cal is running from the life she had had with her dead husband..Quinn is trying to repair his image...The two get married but at a masquerade ball one kiss changes everything. They try to fight the attraction they have for each other but they no longer can...They begin a torrid love affair behind closed doors but no one knows..They get to close once Cal utters the L word to Quinn..he freaks..she decides to go back overseas to her job but will she stay? Can they make it apart? A very good read..

I didn't think Joss could write any better - I was wrong! Joss Wood has become the queen of good, strong and beautiful romances. Married to the Maverick Millionaire has enough heart to make it believable and enough glamour to create a fantasy. Of all three Maverick books, Quinn was my favorite and not because his a bay boy, but because he's a flawed man who let's cal fly on her own wings: the perfect hero.
