When Carrie's parents discover she is pregnant, Florrie, Carrie's mother, takes matters into her own hands and arranges a marriage for Carrie that will see her leave her beloved father, Arthur and brother, Tom, and "sold" to a man she has never met whose regiment is bound for India. 99 Nightingale Lane, I started to read the 1st book in this series which was a free downloaded copy, which went off in mid air, so late at night 1am I ordered the whole box series of the three books which I an now reading and just cannot put it down. They are very pleasant reads and worth five stars. A lot of imagine and hard work has gone into these books. Carrie Dobbs is a strong character.

Loved the characters

I loved the books but thought it was a bit cheeky to charge for each chapter. Also the author went over the same explanations rather a lot. I should have bought the whole series in one go. Probably my fault!!!! I still enjoyed the book and will continue to read the whole series

Well this book captivated me quickly and gave a great depiction of just how life was lived in this book. I didn't like how it gave a taste of book 2 and just stopped. Read during the Corona Virus Pandemic of 2020.

An Historical Trip and Life

This is a good story with Carrie never getting a break. A war and poverty plus starvation... a price that all wars take.
I'm looking forward to the next book.

Why did Carrie believe what Jonh had told her it leads to a huge change in her life

When Carrie finds herself with child she hopes everything that Jonh told her is true but it's not so she ends up married tostranger to keep her family name clean

99 Nightingale Lane

When you read and review so many books it's hard to know what to say. The story is clean and wholesome. It's unfortunate the situation the heroine finds herself in. Is there hope in what seems to be a hopeless situation?

Book 1: Disappointed. It’s in 7 or 8 little parts? And I can’t find the others to check out? Would have been a good story otherwise, but a bunch of 250 page books you can’t even find to finish this one storyline is not worth it.

A serial story.

I didn’t realize this was only an intro, not a complete story. Of course to continue you have to buy the next book.

not a full story

This is just the first part of the book, a ruse to get you to buy the rest…. Not really worthwhile

When I started this book I thought, oh no, I don’t want to read about war or devastating poverty… but they sucked me in! I loved all the characters, particularly Carrie. The author got lost a few times and the editor didn’t catch the mistakes but overall a very satisfying series.

Novella

I wish the synopsis said this was a novella. Took a hour to read. Very depressing and dark. Good parts: different storyline and characters.
