The couples think they are prepared for all the joys and trials a family holiday has to offer but they have a shock coming, and not only from the kids. Into their first day by the pool crashes Ollie, who has just been dumped by his girlfriend, and Cassie, on her hen party holiday but having serious doubts about her impending marriage. A recipe for a relaxing week abroad? Let’s wait and see…
Lol comedy returns in the 5th of the ‘No One Ever Has Sex’ series.....even though its book 5 it can 100% be read as a stand alone It is though good to be back with the gang as this time they go to Spain for their hols and have a rip roaring laugh a minute disaster on disaster week Its a quick hearty read and really did make me laugh many times Its a light but warm read with a few surprising hidden depth moments added for a contrast to the general chaos of proceedings Its a bit like a modern carry on, not ( surprisingly as the title may suggest ) crude humour like Benidorm but more a farce that starts with the packing and ends as they return to work! If you want a good fun no hassle Summer read then this is for you, It doesn’t pretend its something its not but does as says on the tin and is a perfect book to relax, laugh and not worry you have change the world once read it The characters are all likeable, you would want to be friends with them and they exude their likeability through their mis-adventures Well written and couldnt be easier to pick up, read, enjoy and smile For what it aims to do it has to be a 10/10 5 Stars
This was a nice light-hearted summer read that would be perfect for the beach or summer vacation.
Six best friends go on a summer vacation to Spain for a week with their kids. The couples are hoping for some sun, sex, and alcohol. But with their kids tagging along will they get their wish? It's safe to say, most likely not! All the couples think they are so prepared for this fun family holiday, but little do they know that a shock is coming their way - and not just from their kids. Will these best friends have the relaxing vacation they wished for? Just read and see for yourself!
This is book 5 in the No-One Has Ever Had Sex Series and should be read in order so you can follow along with the characters. All in all, this was a quick light summer read. I thought it was good but not great, a little predictable at times, and also I just had a hard time connecting with the new characters.
*Many thanks to NetGalley and Bookouture for the ARC, all opinions are my own.
Completely fabulous, utterly funny and I think something parents everywhere will really be able to relate to.
Even as a non parent I could recognise so much realism in the characters, as Katy and Ben, Braindead and Abby, Daniel and Gabriel all go on a joint holiday to Spain. Oh and between them there are two under ones, a two year old and a 6 year old. So a family holiday shared amongst friends.
From the first set of three chapters which catches you up with each of the couples, further on in time than the last book, and sees their preparations the night before this big holiday, and the first time they have taken any of the kids abroad.
To say that Daniel is out of place on a budget airline, let alone package holiday is an understatement. Yet I managed to fall even more in love with Gabriel than before, as his fluent Spanish speaking was incredibly helpful. Abby wanted to spend all her time celebrating with the group of hens they were drinking with on the plane, and seems really not in a great place.
It says a lot to anyone that knows these characters from the rest of the series, that Ben, Kary and Braindead all seemed relatively normal, although Braindead's legendary ability to speak before thinking resulted in some wonderful lines!
We also get to know Cassie, the bride for this hen party who seems rather out of place amongst her friends, and Ollie who was dumped before his wedding, and is on his honeymoon by himself and appears to have been befriended by the boys.
And the children, they are the key to the whole holiday, they were just doing what kids do, but its how the adults are attempting to adjust to parent hood and the fact that a family holiday is possibly more stressful than being at home with the kids that is what makes this book so lifelike and wonderful.
There are hen party antics that will have you rolling your eyes and or rolling around on the floor in laughter - possibly both. I adored getting to see another side to all of these characters.
As this is the fifth book in the series, I felt as though I was alongside old friends. However I do feel that it could work just as well as a standalone, although you would be missing out on 4 equally hilarious books, to not start at the beginning.
A surprisingly quick book to read - I mean I knew I would find it a fast read, but besides 10% in the bath the night before I read the rest between two tube journeys and eating in a restaurant and still had a stop to spare before I was home - I was enjoying it that much that honestly I'm shocked I managed to get where I was going on either of those journeys, as I have no recollection of any of the stations!
Utterly hilarious, completely compelling this is another inspired addition to this already wonderful series. My only question now, is please can we have some more?!
Thank you to Netgalley and Bookouture for this copy which I have reviewed honestly and voluntarily.
I usually have so much fun with Tracy Bloom’s books and this one was no different. Her books this year have been so well timed with my own life situations. The previous title No-One Ever Has Sex at a Wedding was so relatable. I read it right after my wedding and it was perfect! No-one Ever Has Sex on a Holiday is another great read that made me think about parenthood.
The gang is back and this time, they all have kids. Daniel and Gabrielle have baby Sylvie. Craig ‘Braindead’ and Abby have baby Logan and of course, Kate and Ben have Jack and Maddy. Two of these kids are toddlers. This is an important detail because taking your kids on holiday is tricky but toddlers is another whole different ballgame. Nothing about babies screams ‘time to relax’.
This story is hilarious. The couples decided to take a budget trip to Spain and it was an absolute mess that had me clutching my sides in laughter. I didn’t even know that there are flights without allocated seats. I have had to scramble into buses but can’t imagine trying to do the same in a plane. The flight was too funny, the budget hotel an absolute nightmare and everything else seemed to go downhill.
Bloom has a way with words. She painted pictures of the holiday that made me feel like I had traveled with the characters. I still have images of baby Logan pouring buckets of water over a stranger’s feet and people jumping overboard a cruise ship like they were on the titanic.
Although this book made me laugh out loud, it also gave me plenty of moments to reflect about marriage and parenthood. It made me think about the changes that come with having babies, not just the physical ones but also the kind that affect relationships. Lately, I have been thinking about the interrupted/no sleep periods of motherhood. This book reminded me that there are other challenges that might come along but nothing that can’t be handled.
Tracy Bloom has done it again! She has given life to characters and situations that are relatable. They will make you reflect on different issues. You might find yourself nodding your head, holding your sides laughing or simply smiling. It is that kind of book that takes you on a roller-coaster ride.
I enjoyed every minute that I spent reading No-one Ever Has Sex on Holiday by Tracy Bloom.
I really laughed out loud with this book. I remember going on vacation with my children but they were a bit older before we did a vacation more than a camping trip with my mom to help. This story has three couples that have been married for various lengths of time. Katie and Ben have been married the longest and are the glue between the three couples. Katie is also the mother hen in the group. They have two children. Braindead and Abby, and Daniel and Gabriel each have one child. Abby is having a crisis of sorts. She wants to have fun in Spain, sex, sangria and parties, Braindead is totally consumed with his son and having a vacation to remember. Daniel and Gabriel are a hoot. Gabriel is Spanish and is looking forward to showing his friends Spain's wonderful and welcoming hospitality, he is also a stay at home dad. Daniel, his husband, is the exact opposite. He is demanding, entitled and often rude. He is upset from the beginning of the trip, and Katie who works with him, spends time trying to talk him down and to put himself in other people's shoes. On the flight, they meet Cassie and her friends who are on her hen party and somehow, Kate, Daniel and Abby all get invited to participate in their events. Throw in Ollie, who they meet by the pool the first day. Ollie is on his honeymoon, along, after being dumped by his fiancée, and you know this motley crew is going to have adventures.
There are so many funny incidents throughout the story that you will laugh from beginning to end. Yes, parenting is serious business and at no time were the kids in danger, but they definitely added to the fun. From Daniel's whining, to Abby's disconnected personna, Kate just wanting to relax, and Braindead's pressure that Kate take care of Abby, this group of friends are doomed from the start. I had to laugh at the antics of the attendees at the hen party. Although Cassie is having a bit of a breakdown due to cold feet for her upcoming wedding and her discomfort with the activities planned for her hen party, there are so many fun moments. Then there is Abby. I wasn't sure about her. She is the one who puts a bit of a damper on the events, but the climax of the story brought about by her actions was so funny. Overall, this was a fun book with a few more serious issues to keep it real. This is only the second book I have read in this series, but I will try and find the others.
This is the 5th book in the " no-one ever has sex" series. It's a fun series set in different places like the suburbs, or on Christmas. This book is set in Spain, and it's full of funny things that can happen when six friends go on vacation with their kids. I hadn't read any of the other books in the series, but I'm going back to check them out!
Thanks to Bookouture and NetGalley for the ARC of this book in exchange for an honest review.
I didn't realize this was a series and I must now go back and read them! This was - hearted, hilarious and fun. I don't have kids myself, but I could relate to the hilarity.
Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for my ARC in exchange for an honest review.
Three couples, that we've already got to know very well and love so much - Katy and Ben, Braindead and Abby, Daniel and Gabriel - are off on their first holiday together as families. With five children between them. Abroad. To Spain. To a family friendly hotel, which means that it's full with such travellers as our characters. What can go wrong, right? It's for sure going to be a relaxing, peaceful holiday, right? Or not?
I've read somewhere that parents actually don't have holidays at all - they simply look after their children in a different place, and well, this book shows that it is true. The way all the characters tried so much to get as much as possible out of their holidays, how they tried to adjust and not go crazy was so brilliantly portrayed and made the book even more brilliant to read.
It is already the fifth book in the series and well, as much as I think it could be read as a stand - alone, I wouldn't recommend it. I've seen some reviewers mentioning the fact that the characters were not developed enough - well, I got to know them inside out in the previous four books, it felt like being with old friends together again, and the author really didn't have to flesh them all out again - if you've been with Katy and the gang through thick and thin you really know them and what make them tick now. So better read the previous books as well, me thinks.
It was hilarious and funny and full of "OMG" moments read, unbelievably relatable, even though my daughter is a very easy - care child, but being so much around other children once you've seen this you've seen this all (and can't unseen or forget it). The attempts of really enjoying the holiday by taking part in all the planned activities, that usually turned out to be attractive and thrilling only in the flyer, trying to spend some time together as couples and keep everybody happy on top of that were brilliantly described. And rang a bell - it's a situation that probably all of us know very well, no matter if we're parents or not yet. Keep everybody happy, ha!
The characters are like old friends but the one that I liked most this time must have been Daniel, so out of place on a budget airline and in a normal hotel room, not in a suite, behaving like prima donna, and I simply loved him! He was so funny and he seemed so shallow but deep inside he was so insightful and full of love to his daughter and husband, and well, his battles also rang a bell, don't you think? This of wanting to be a stay at home father but realising that it's better other way round. We've got more of Gabriel this time and I can't say how much he impressed me, first with his patience and second, with using his Spanish to solve some problems - the way he did this was simply first class brilliant! I couldn't put my finger on Abby, I was guessing there was much more to her behaviour than meets the eye and I think I'd like the author to dig deeper into her problems and issues a little bit more - especially as I was in her shoes, so I really could relate to her and her feelings. Braindead... Well, I must admit that he annoyed me a little this time, he took to fatherhood too seriously and I had a feeling that Abby being so absent simply worked for him. There are some new characters introduced to us as well, and they were a great addiction, especially Ollie. Oh boy, the poor Ollie, who's on his honeymoon, staying in the honeymoon suite at the same hotel that our characters but without the bride, who has called - off the wedding. The honeymoon suite is a character of its own, be prepared!
Intertwined with all the humour and light heartedness, and I really liked how it was done, were the problems and troubles that come with family and becoming a parent. They're written with a pinch of salt but they're there, highlighted, all the expectations versus reality, and how well the fact that the arrival of the children impacted the relationships of their parents was captured.
"No One Ever Has Sex on Holiday" was a quick, light and entertaining read, full of quirky, sharp dialogues and hilarious one - liners. It was full of many laugh out loud moments, but also some poignant and heart - warming ones, and Tracy Bloom knows how to handle and balance them. However, the main point of this book is to entertain you, and it fulfils this intention completely, offering you a relaxing, light and uplifting read. Highly recommended, a perfect summer read!
Copy provided by the publisher in return for an honest review.
I found this to be an enthralling, laugh out loud read and great story and it wasn't until I'd finished this book that I discovered it is the fifth in a series so I can honestly say that it works well as a standalone. Three couples - Katy and Ben, Braindead and Abby, Daniel and Gabriel - are off on their first holiday abroad with, between them, their five children. They're off on a 'cheap but cheerful' package holiday to a Spanish resort which has more than its fair share of similar families with children. A recipe for a relaxing holiday this certainly isn't!
On the flight out to Spain the group are joined by Cassie and her hen party ladies and, with the duty free vodka flowing and under the guidance of party organiser and whistle blowing Ruth, so the fun begins! As the holiday commences, differing expectations, relationships, worries and problems are highlighted in this new situation. Most of the problems encountered aren't from the children but from the adults and how they are reacting to being parents. The arrival of the children has impacted on the relationship between their parents in different ways and these are realistically portrayed through this story, with the tension, angst, acting out and expectations resulting in sometimes moving and other times laugh out loud incidents.
The hen party ladies also contribute to the events and bride-to-be Cassie proves to be a lady in a dilemma. There's also Ollie, a man who is on holiday staying in the honeymoon suite at their hotel, but he's there on his own because his long term girlfriend and wife-to-be called off their wedding. As the friends try to keep Abby safe whilst she parties with the hen ladies, Kate endeavours to keep everyone organised and Gabriel proves to be a godsend as he is Spanish and can translate and mediate where necessary - and that's quite often! I'm hoping there's another romance for Ollie planned for the next book in this series - he certainly deserves it after everything he goes through in this one!
There are just so many funny incidents throughout the story and I definitely liked the ending. It is a real page turner that I didn't want to put down until I'd finished it. I now need to find time to go back and read some of the earlier books in this series but, in the meantime, I have absolutely no hesitation in highly recommending this fantastic story and hope you get to enjoy it as much as I did!
I requested and was gifted a copy of this book via NetGalley and this is my honest opinion after choosing to read it and thoroughly enjoying doing so.
The last in the No-One Ever Has Sex series and it was another great addition. I wondered how the fallout from a one night stand could end up spanning five books, but, to be honest, it wasn't really mentioned much in this one. Instead, we have three of our fave couples from the last four books, Katy and Ben, Braindead and Ally, and Daniel and Gabriel, on a family holiday with their assorted offspring. From the moment they set off on a budget flight, much to the disgust of Daniel, who is used to the finer things in life, and meet a hen party, to the time they finally see their sleeping arrangements, to the touchdown back home, after a week of craziness, you know you are in for a great laugh!
I received an advance review copy for free, and I am leaving this review voluntarily.
Katy & Ben are going on holiday with their 2 children along with 2 other couples and their children. What happens when they get on the plane and then hit Spain will have you laughing in the aisles (as they say). What happens when they meet a load of Hen Do revellers and a man in a Bridal Suite will make you wished you was there.
This is the 2nd Tracy Bloom book I've read. I've found it funny in parts and felt sorry for a couple of the characters. Made me think that 1 of the characters could be suffering from a certain problem, but will see what happens in the following books from this series.
I'm going to be totally honest, I had bought this on pre-order as a late night finger slip on the kindle store. When it arrived on my kindle I was a bit confused as to why it was there as it's not my usual kind of read. It wasn't a big read though, and as I'm about to embark on a BIG next read I thought I'd enjoy a little one first... I am thrilled I did plunge in to this random book though as I have to admit that for total escapism, story led dialogue and fun to read activity this book is GREAT! Plus it made me really grateful again that I do not have / not want kids!
A vacation abroad with close friends and all the kids - what could go wrong? This is book 5 in the No-One Ever has Sex series - full disclosure that I have not read any of the previous ones so maybe it would have changed my rating; although the storyline seems pretty standalone.
You can finish this book in about 2 hours. The writing is simple and the plot predictable. I know the dialogue was supposed to be witty and funny but I found them cheesy. Some of the characters drove me insane and I wish she spent more time developing the characters so we could learn more about them and their relationship with each other.
Thank you to netgalley and bookouture for a copy of this ARC in exchange for my honest review.
I have read a couple of Tracy’s books and I really enjoyed them. I read the synopsis for ‘No-one Ever Has Sex On Holiday’ and it sounded like just the kind of read I need at this moment in time. A funny, escapist, light hearted sort of read. It was definitely all that and more. I thoroughly enjoyed reading it but more about that in a bit. I soon took to the story and to the characters. In fact by the time I got to the end of the first page, I just knew that I wouldn’t be able to put the book down and the story would be addictive. So it proved to be. I couldn’t put the book down. The book wasn’t exactly glued to my hand but it might as well have been because it travelled everywhere with me. The book seemed to develop a hold over me and if I put the book to one side for any reason, then I risked breaking that hold. I also feared missing out on some little nugget of gossip or some scandal if I stopped reading. The pages seemed to turn that quickly that it was almost as if they were turning themselves and I seemed to reach the end of the book all too soon, which I wasn’t happy about. I don’t mean that in a negative sense but I was enjoying the author’s writing style, the characters and the storylines so much that I just didn’t want the book to end. ‘No-one Ever Has Sex on Holiday’ is brilliantly written but then I wouldn’t expect anything else from Tracy Bloom. Tracy has a way of enticing you into the story and before you know what is happening, boom you are addicted to the story. Tracy dangles enough bait in front of your nose to encourage you to keep reading- not that I needed any encouragement. I also find that Tracy has a way of making you feel as though you are part of the story yourself. That’s how I felt at any rate. I found that I was chuckling away to myself practically all the way through the book as I imagined the events that Tracy was writing about. It was just the tonic I needed. Reading ‘No-one Ever Has Sex On Holiday’ was just what the doctor ordered. I mean that in the sense that it did more to cheer me up than any medication or counselling ever could. In fact, I am still chuckling away as I imagine the shenanigans that the different characters got up to. In a nutshell, I thoroughly enjoyed reading ‘No-one Ever Has Sex On Holiday’ and I will definitely be recommending the book to other readers. I can’t wait to read what Tracy comes up with next. The score on the Ginger Book Geek board is a well deserved 5* out of 5*.

I enjoyed every minute that I spent reading No-one Ever Has Sex on Holiday by Tracy Bloom.
You will find there's times I have five star post after post and go to town on jumping around excitedly. Following the Laura Briggs gush (last rom com post), I moved into this, the absolute end game in Summer reads-a comedy about a group of friends heading off on holiday with all their kids. I don't have much time to review this (eyes dart conspiratorially about the place, searching out the kids who are stirring upstairs, but in the same way there are times I get book cravings, there are times I feel the need to blog (gush, dream about) books that people HAVE to read!
In this instalment of the epic series (which I haven't actually read in order and there are still more for me to read but I'll get there!) the group are all heading off to Spain. With a range of kids in tow, they know that this isn't going to be the chilled out holiday they used to have when they were child free, but don't quite expect things to go this much off kilter!
With comic moments that made me actually snort out loud (I think Tracy Bloom is one of the few authors out there that makes me do this with each book!), this book sooo hit the spot! The lovely, huggable Braindead trying to get his head around why the other half is letting loose (in the hugest way) when she could be doting on their child, while another member of the group is wishing he could click with the baby thing as much as his husband. There are some epic new additions to the cast, the hen trying to escape all notions of a wedding while the people on said hen decide they want to go WILD (!), and the lovely Ollie who had been dumped before he reached the alter being standouts in the 'oh I love them so much!' stakes! I am posting it now because with less than a month left of the hollers, I feel everyone should get going and give this book a read for the ultimate in books you won't want to put down, whether you're poolside or at home. Excellent, excellent, excellent!
Katy and Ben are married and have two young children. They plan a holiday at a resort in Spain with friends ... Daniel and Gabriel and their young daughter, and Braindead and Ally and their young son.
On the plane from England, Katy, Ally and Daniel meet Ruth who is part of Cassie's bachelorette party. They get invited to some of their partying, which doesn't make some of the people in their group happy since it's supposed to be a family vacation. As Katy gets to know Cassie, she realizes that Cassie doesn't actually want to get married and tries to guide her to make the right decision. The families also meet Ollie, who is on his brideless honeymoon because she dumped him shortly before the ceremony, and they pull them into their circle to help him move on. The three couples had been looking forward to relaxing and recharging and enjoying their spouse's company ... and of course, nothing goes as planned.
This was the fifth book I read by this author and I liked it. Though it is the fifth in the No-One Has Sex series (and the third one I've read), you don't have to read the others to know what's going on. I liked the writing style ... it was a quick light read. It is written in third person perspective with the focus on wherever the action is. The language at times is for mature readers. It's written by an English author with English characters and I didn't, as a Canadian, get some of the English references to people, TV shows, etc.
Another really great, lighthearted, amusing quick read by Tracy Bloom. It is the second one of the series I have read and it was great to catch up with the characters again. When I read ‘No-one Ever Has Sex At A Wedding’, which was published earlier this year, I didn’t realise it was one of a series of books. I would again opine that these could be read as stand-alone novels. The summary of the book is a straightforward one: a group of friends and their respective young children go on a holiday to Spain. What makes this books special is the quality of characters. The sensible couple, Katy and Ben. His longstanding best friend, the very intelligent, but speaks before he speaks, ‘Braindead’ and his beautiful wife Abby who is acting out of character on this holiday. They are accompanied by Katy’s friend and colleague Daniel and his husband Gabriel. Daniel is a loveable snob. Gabriel is Spanish but whilst he now lives in England what will he think of the mixing of the two cultures? Flying cattle class on a budget airline staying at a family holiday resort in Spain with four young children, a title that guarantees no sex, and Daniel’s attitudes towards anything below business class and 5* service, what could possibly go wrong? This book introduces some great new characters who I hope will pop up in future books in this series. Thanks to NetGalley for a Kindle copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.
I have read the previous book and I remember I utterly enjoyed it. Now it was time to attack this one. Unfortunately it's the last one in the series. It's sad on the one hand, but I still have 3 books to look forward to, because I have not read part 1 to 3.
I have never been on holiday with one or more small children, but I remember my sister doing it and it felt like there were about 10 suitcases for the girls and a small backpack for her and my brother in law. :)
The way the author described the situations the parents found themselves in are exactly as I imagined them. Utter chaos and probably a lot of fun for the little ones, but more stress than peace for the grown up ones.
I don't applaud Abby's behaviour, but I could understand what she meant. Going from one phase in your life to the next one, is always saying a bit goodbye. On the plus side, there are new adventures waiting for you and new memories waiting to be collected and cherished.
I loved the parents sticking together, looking out and helping each other. In their own chaos they still took the time to support others, even if it mixed up their own plans.
An easy summer read that put a smile on my face more than once. 5 stars
If Katy, Ben and four of their closest friends think a week in Spain is going to be sun, sex and sangria – they can think again!
The 3 families believe they are well prepared for the trials of a summer holiday, but it turns out the kids aren’t the ones playing up.
When the group meet jilted Ollie and unsure bride-to-be Cassie, their dreams for a relaxing on a sun lounger interspersed with some good old-fashioned family time couldn’t be further from reality!
I seem destined to only read every other instalment of this series, number 4 having passed me by, which is a real shame because they are so great! However, due to the easiness of the storylines it isn’t hard to catch up and I never really felt liked I’d missed any huge details, just lots of giggles I’m sure.
In this book we see Katy and Ben join their friends for the first family holiday abroad, kidding themselves from the beginning that they are going to get any R&R. What ensues is far from relaxing, a budget airline flight seated amongst a rowdy hen party, a battle in the restaurant each day and most definitely no sex in the evenings.
All put together this makes for a laugh out loud read. What I love about Bloom, is you know what you’re getting. When I pick up a book by this author, I know I’m going to have a giggle and enjoy wasting a few hours turning the pages to devour the book in one sitting!
Even though this is for the most part a very comical read, it does touch on some more serious issues. Bloom doesn’t go into great depth with this but it’s obvious to the reader there is some suffering with mental health for one of the characters. What I found interesting was that the other characters weren’t alarmed by the behaviour, I think this makes it clear that mental health is so easy to miss.

This review was originally posted on Star Crossed Reviews I received this book for free from Netgalley in exchange for an honest review. This does not affect my opinion of the book or the content of my review.Thank you to Bookouture for my copy of this book via Netgalley and for letting me take part in this tour. I LOVE this series. I have been following Katy and the gang for a few years now and I was so excited to be back in their world.
The first few chapters catch us up on each of the three couples since the end of the fourth book No-one ever has sex at a Wedding. In this latest chapter, Katy and her friends are going on a package holiday to Spain. I was very shocked when I read that Daniel was joining them as this would totally not be his scene. This, of course, causes much hilarity.
Abby was very irritating in this book. I think that Braindead had a lot more patience than I do. I think rather than being indulged Abby needed sitting down and finding out what was really wrong. I think she was having some real issues that he wasn't picking up on. While Braindead is extremely clever he has been known to miss the things right under his nose.
As usual with these books, there were many laugh out loud moments along with some real heartwarming moments. Katy has a big heart and is always trying to help others which is exactly what happens here.
It was great to introduce two new characters Cassie and Ollie and I hope if this series continues that these two will make an appearance again. They were really fun.
It was a pleasure to return to Katy and the gang. This is an easy book to read, I raced through it in just a few hours. Sadly I was on a very windy, cloudy seafront in England and not a warm, sunny beach in Spain!
When I first started out reading this book I did not think I was going to like it or any of the characters but I was wrong. Going on holiday with your kids and friends and their kids and wanting to be able to relax and sit and read or just to have fun did not quite happen as planned. Katy and Ben decide to have their friends and kids join them to Spain and get tickets for a budget flight , which they find out why lol. But decide to spend more of the money on the hotel. The bedrooms are not what they expected so that starts off not well. Then they meet up with Ollie who is there on his non honeymoon since his fiance broke up with him 3 weeks before the wedding. Abby doesn't seem to be happy to be there with her husband pr their child and so that makes things difficult and they meet a group of women, on the plane, for a girls week bachlorette party. So Katy, Abby and Daniel get sucked into partying with them. This book had me shaking my head at some of them and laughing at other things. I had not read any of the other books by this author and may have to read a few. Thank you to NetGalley and Bookouture for letting me review.
Glad to have finally got rid of boring Mathew and OCD, anal Alison, so that was an improvement, but of course the story is predictable and gets a bit tiresome along the way. I can’t say that I particularly dislike any other characters in this book, but I absolutely adore Daniel and the perfect Gabriel. Ben is really too good to be true, and I really think that some of the abilities that Logan has, really seem to put him in the gifted and talented section of humanity if he is only as young as he is made out to be.....Abby and Craig have only been married for two years so how do they have such an advanced child, when she wasn’t pregnant when she got married and Craig didn’t do the job while they were on their honeymoon and it wasn’t until a few weeks after they came home that he finally was able to consummate their marriage. I think perhaps the author has got carried away with dialog amongst the characters and forgotten how young the children all are? The entire series of these books are just bubble gum for the eyes, so if the prospective reader thinks there is anything more to this fluff, they will be sadly mistaken.
This is definitely a quick read but not really in the enjoyable sense more like I need to read this quickly so I can finish and move on to something else. It follows 3 families as they go on a vacation together for a week. Which the story tries to portray as a disaster holiday but really it just seemed like a bunch of rich snobs complaining about every little thing! You went on a “vacation” with kids to a family resort what did you think it would be like? The characters we unrelatable and seriously why did we need to continually refer to the one character by his nickname braindead? They all annoyed me with their whining and snivelling over nothing that was truly a disaster. This is the 5th story in the series and I haven’t read others so maybe I would’ve enjoyed it more if I had read the first 4 but I’m not sure I could stand to read for more books with these characters. I did lol a couple times and the entire boat party chapter was great but other then that just not a great read for me.

Thank you to NetGalley and the Publisher for providing me with a copy of the book in exchange for an honest review. When starting this book I wasn't aware that this book was the fifth in a series written by Tracy Bloom however you can read this as a standalone. This book follows three different families and their first time going on a group holiday with the children. I found this book to be a quick, light-hearted summer read which shows the hardship that goes into looking after young children. The book also lightly touches on how hard it is for new mother’s to be fully comfortable in their new role which I really respected. However this book became a little predictable for me which quickly took the enjoyment out of it for me. I think if I had realised this was part of a series and had read the previous books first I may have been more emotionally attached to the characters and the story. I did enjoy Tracy Bloom’s writing style so will definitely keep an eye out for her other books!
Following on from No One Ever Has Sex at a Wedding, the friends head off on a package holiday together. They meet up with a hen party and a ditched honeymooner. What could possibly go wrong…? Abby wants to go out partying rather than spend time with her husband and child. Daniel has high expectations as he is used to luxurious holidays not package deals. Katy and Ben are trying to keep their own children entertained but also help desperate bride-to-be Cassie and dumped non-groom Olly. This was an hilarious book but there was also some sadness. I could identify with Abby’s feeling of losing her identity even though I hated her behaviour and thought she was selfish especially as she reveals that her parents abandoned her on their holidays to enjoy themselves. The style of writing is easy to read and light hearted. The events are extreme and VERY funny. I would go as far as saying this is the perfect feel good holiday book, expecially as it is sure to make you feel better about your own holiday chaos!
Katy has organised a package holiday to Spain for her and Ben and the kids, her best friend Daniel from work and his husband Gabriel with their daughter Silvie and Bens best friend Braindead and his wife Abby with their son Logan..what could possibly go wrong?
Katy, Daniel and Abby get speaking to a hen do on the plane and find themselves with an invite to a night out to celebrate Cassie’s forthcoming wedding.
Ollie is staying in the same hotel on his honeymoon after being ditched at the wedding and Ben and Braindead take him under their wing.
The characters are all fun and easy to relate to. The situations they find themselves in whilst all quite crazy could easily really happen.
Thank you to Net Galley for sending me a free copy of this book in exchange for a honest review.
I decided to read this one because it looked and sounded like it would be an easy, girly read. I didn’t have any expectations as I’ve never read anything by this author before but I was pleasantly surprised. The book made me laugh out loud throughout and I loved the characters. Katy was a great main character and very easy to associate with.
I didn’t realise that this book is part of a series but it’s stand alone it made perfect sense to me having not read any of the others.
Overall a great read if you fancy something light and funny.
I gave this book 4☆ .I have read several other books by this author and do enjoy her style of writing. Story revolves around a group of friends who decide to take a holiday abroad together for the first time. Each family being very different both in size and class bring different approaches to the holiday .It's a mixture of fun and games .Story continues to show us how that relationships can vary and shows how difficulties can arise. A great story of friendship.love and trust can they make it to the end still friends and still married ....A nice easy lazy day read .
