Pop Goes the Weasel: A Follow the Rainbow Cozy Mystery

Rate this book
Meet Rainbow Goldman, former beauty pageant winner and good-news TV talk show host. Fresh off a break-up, she heads to Maine to help out her granddad, and hopefully catch a little R&R. But her Jimmy Choos barely touch the quaint cobblestones of Van Kills Cove before she stumbles over a dead body. And here she thought losing her fiancé and her job in one fell swoop was as low as she could go.

When an old friend turns into the main suspect, Rainbow pulls out all the investigative tools in her arsenal, including a secret her pet ferret. But her zeal to clear her friend lands her in the top spot on sexy-but-grumpy Detective Maverick’s list of suspects. If her life were a game of Chutes and Ladders, her latest roll would have sent her off the board.

As she chases down leads in the close-knit town, she discovers that cedar shingles and overflowing flower boxes can sometimes hide ugly secrets, and everyone from the dead man’s estranged wife to his son-in-law to an old flame could have done the deed.
Rainbow is no stranger to helping out, high heels, or hard-hitting questions, but this mystery puts her faith in humanity and journalist training — not to mention her skills with a frying pan — to the test.

Ferreting out the truth is hard work.

A good read. Okay not the best. Really didn't like the ending - the main character gets dumped from her job, she can't pay her apartment rent and her fiance is playing away from home. Plus the end solution to the death is a damp squid ending that leaves you feeling flat.
After seeing her fiance and producer making out, she needs to put some distance between them. Going to her Grandfather's house (even if she can't really make out why from her mother's information) seems like a good plan. Finding a dead body, when she turns up to collect the keys, isn't on her good ideas list. Murder or natural? A daughter to busy to care, a wife that wants desperately to move, a young caretaker, a pushy aggressive realtor, a son-in-law who feels undervalued and a former girlfriend. Who was responsible? Can she and her ferret ferret out what happened?

Done, Done and Done

Rainbow finds the fiancee smooching a scank of a co-worker ,she is so done with him , then Rainbow comes across a dead body , tried to figure that one out and now is done with that and her cor-rear is also done that day. You need to read it to believe it as well as enjoying "Pop Goes the Weasel "🙄. Kat

Needing a time out from hectic New York ( for personal reasons) Rainbow agrees to go to Van Kills Cove after a weird message from her mother. No sooner does she get there and she's embroiled in the death of the local toy maker.

An enjoyable read with diverse characters.
