This book is a romantic suspense it starts off with a meeting between Garret a security specialist and Natalie a high scale attorney. Natalie is being threatened by an ex-boyfriend "Joey" who turned out to be the head of a crime family he lied to her about so many things his name for one, what he did for a living, about how he earned his money until she started noticing things like messages on his cell phone or bags of drugs falling out of his jacket pocket. When she ends things with him he thought that money would be a way to keep her in his life by offering her a position and in no uncertain terms to be a criminal lawyer in a bad way he said she needed to be his lawyer to get his criminal buddies off the hook and threatened her. She decided to take matters into her own hands because she had a moral code she did not deal helping criminals. Hiring Shaw security was her next step being attracted to the head of Shaw security Garrett was not something she was expecting Garrett on the other hand had secrets of his own burdens and responsibilities that was going against his moral compass. Garrett being ex-military was a loyal person by trade loyal to his men and loyal to his family but his sister Ellie was being threatened and he had no choice. But as his relationship grew with Natalie the two became inseparable. In the midst of this there have been fist flying, chokeholds, assassination attempts and some angry ex-military men. Natalie after breaking things off with Joey went to the NYPD for help they could not offer security so that's why she went to Garrett and his security firm. But in the back of all of this Garrett knew he was trying to save his sister the problem being he's falling in love with Natalie so now he has a deeper responsibility. But before he could come clean about his lies and betrayal which were his intentions Joey her ex takes measures into his own hands offering Garrett's men on his team a more lucrative offer by hiring them outright and instead of killing Garrett for turning back on there deal he takes the only blow he knows that will hit him hard by sending a packet of incriminating information about Garrett's betrayal to Natalie by doing this it eliminates Garrett from any long-term relationship he had planned for him and Natalie. But guilt eats a him over the next three weeks as he and Natalie are separated so ensuring his sister is safe in California he flies back to New York to turn himself in and testify against Joey for all of his criminal activity and Garrett's part and betrayal of Natalie and the police department. But before he even gets to the police station that day Natalie is kidnapped from the secure apartment by the very man that set up the security one of Garrett's old team members that now works for Joey. But after telling his story to the detectives that Natalie was working with, about his sister and his part that he played in the role they team up going over Natalie's apartment again. Before Natalie kicked Garrett out for his betrayal he was not able to disable his access to her security system they were able to go in a back door in the system and find what they needed to rescue Natalie. But for Natalie during those three weeks away she learned that she was pregnant with Garrett's child so many conflicting emotions there. This is not a spoiler for other readers because it is in the description. But Joey learns of her pregnancy because he's had her followed and tries to use that against her to make her bend to his will and become that criminal lawyer he wanted to start off with, but again she refuses even though her unborn child is at stake. But no need because Garrett not knowing his future with her, still joins the police force to rescue her. But on the top of a roof with a helicopter hovering over is a damn way to find out you're going to be a father. So we have a couple of epilog's this book does have a happy ending or a happy for now ending. The elusive Ellie makes her second appearance in the book I'm wondering if she gets her own story there somewhere. Garrett is offered a job with the police department since his security firm is no more. And Natalie re-evaluates her lawyer status and there's made mention of a new district attorney in town.

This book is a steamy contemporary romance that is full of sexual tension, grit, suspense and drama. It is full of twists and turns that will keep you hooked and make you eager to keep reading and uncover all of the books secrets.
Natalie Mayer is one of the best lawyers in the city and she is great at her job. She is smart, professional and extremely dedicated as she puts her job first. But all of that changed when she met and started dating bad boy Joey Monroe. He was a little rough around the edges and not her usual type but she gave him the benefit of the doubt because of his suave charm. However, her world comes crashing down when she discovers that Joey is actually a major mob boss. He tried to blackmail Natalie into working for him as a criminal lawyer to help him with his criminal enterprise. But Nat refuses and instead goes to the NYPD and agrees to testify against Joey, which is why she finds herself needing to hire a bodyguard to protect her. This is when she finds herself meeting the man who will not only guard her life but change it irrevocably.
Garrett Shaw is an ex-SEAL who is now a mercenary with his own security firm. He has a long history in the military that all works towards him being the best money can buy when you are looking for a top of the range bodyguard. He is strong, brooding but professional. He is all about his work and puts everything into each job which is why he only takes one job at a time. But when he meets his next client Natalie he makes her so much more than just a job. This is the first job that Garrett has taken on where he has secrets and secrets never stay buried for long.
Nat and Garrett’s relationship was really cool. Despite their professional, hard-faced appearances as individuals, all of that changes when they are together. They are incredibly sweet together and made sure that they got to know each other not just be led by sex. Their chemistry is obvious and sizzles off the page and so it was always going to be apparent that their sex is extremely hot. These two workaholics both found each other and realised that there was more to life than just work. But as always the path to true love never does run smoothly and this book features lots of twist and turns that you may never see coming!
My only negative to this book was Joey, who almost came across as a pantomime villain and I wasn’t sure really what to make of him. He definitely was not portrayed as your normal high ranking mob boss. For someone to be clever enough to run a criminal enterprise that large and important he made some incredibly stupid decisions and at times he almost seemed crazy. His character made the whole book seem a lot less realistic.
Overall, I really enjoyed this book and it was such a pleasure to read. With the exception of Joey the characters were extremely realistic and they were great. The plot is quite different from your average bodyguard and client storyline, which makes it that much better. Originality along with suspense, secrets and lies means that this book is very addictive and will keep you entertained and wanting more.

A Contemporary Romance full of steam, suspense, sexual tension and some amazing characters!
Broken Hero is a suspenseful romance novel that doesn’t skimp on sexual tension or steam in any way! The characters in this story are so realistic that it only makes the story like you are reading a movie! It was so enigmatic and full of who did it and kept you questioning.
Garrett meets Natalie who is a high profile attorney who needs help with an ex boyfriend who won’t leave her alone. Joey doesn’t seem to get the hint that Natalie wants nothing more to do with his underworld of crime. Garrett is the man for the job. He proves to Natalie that his team can fulfill the contract of making sure that no harm comes to her. Especially from Joey.
Garrett and Natalie’s relationship is a whirlwind of a roller coaster! Within the time of their relationship there are fists, chokeholds, angry ex-military men and assassination attempts.
In the midst of protecting Natalie Joey gets ahold of Garrett’s sister and then proposes that Garrett give Joey all of the details of Natalie while he is protecting her.

A STEAMY contemporary romance full of suspense, realistic characters, and sexual tension. A MUST-READ!
With all of the feels, suspense and heat that an Aubrey Wright novel is sure to bring, “BROKEN HERO” is everything a romance reader looks for and more. A GREAT story, which is both compelling and complex, told in the most descriptive prose which makes the reader feel like she is living it, and phenomenal characters who while flawed, do the best they can under the circumstances in which they find themselves. On top of that add a style of prose that is easy to read, characters which are incredibly realistic and a story so tangible it could be a headline for the Times. The love affair between Natalie and Garrett is a roller-coaster ride through the boroughs of New York City which at times seems too convoluted to be able to provide a happy ending, but it does so in the most unexpectedly remarkable way. In short, “BROKEN HERO” by Aubrey Wright is phenomenal and by rights should be your next romance purchase! While I wax eloquent about the novel and its tremendously talented author, I should also reveal that I voluntarily read an advanced copy of “BROKEN HERO” and that this is my voluntary, honest review. “BROKEN HERO” is a 5+STAR romantic read with all of the feels, heat, and suspense any reader of romances could possibly want. Garrett is a bodyguard who meets Natalie a potential client who is a high profile attorney. She discovered that her boyfriend was a criminal and got the information needed to put him away. So now he wants her silence her for good. Natalie ex wants her to be his attorney to keep him out of jail. She isn't going to do that she is a above the law person.
Garrett and Natalie’s quickly turn their relationship into more than client/ employer type of relationship to a physcial one. I think I would of liked more of a deep burn and build before giving into their chemistry.
This book has suspense that you don't know who to trust with a mix of romance too. Some of it I guessed might happen so I wasn't as shocked with the direction of the story. There is a lot of steamy action between the sheets. I really liked it. There was a few twists and turns along the way that keep you guessing. I love the characters and the story. I just thought is dragged in a few parts because things were tense and then not so much is why I only gave it 4 stars. I really starting to love Aubrey Wright's books so I would still recommend reading this one. Its a great story.

This book has more twists, turns, ups and downs than the most death defying roller coaster ride!! It left me feeling just as exhilarated, yet exhausted too!
An emotionally charged, heart-wringing page turner that I read long into the night because I just could n0t find a place where I felt I could stop reading. I finished it at 3:00 AM this morning.
I loved the dual POV. I like knowing how both main characters are feeling and dealing with where the story is taking them. I feel like I am getting a complete story that way. When authors first started using this way of telling their stories I was not a big fan since it was confusing and a bit hard to get used to, but now I prefer it to the single point of view method.
Natalie and Garrett were deep, complex characters with sexual chemistry off the charts!! That was evident from the beginning all the way through to the last page.
This is the first book I have read by Ms. Wright but it will definitely not be the last.

Natalie Shaw has herself in a bind when it turns out her ex is one of New York's biggest mobsters, and he isn't happy she left him. The fact that she is one of New York's finest lawyer's doesn't help matters. The fact that he's incredibly tall and handsome shouldn't play into her decision. But what she knows could get her killed and the ex SEAL does have an impeccable resume so she hires Garrett Shaw to keep her safe.
With his first vision of the sexy woman Garrett is instantly drawn to the tough, no-nonsense lawyer who hires him to keep her safe until the NYPD can lock up her ex. From the start the double entendres begin and the tension between the two is undeniable. Yet, the Navy turned him into a fine-tuned killing machine and Garrett is determined to keep her safe, even though he is partly responsible for the trouble she's facing.
This book was interesting, the author is definitely improving her writing skills, and although filled with drama, it was all predictable. Also, my biggest issue with a dramatic filled story line is filling in the gaps with character reaction to events and that was missing here, especially at the end.

Natalie is the best lawyer in the city. Unfortunately, he ex, Joey, turns out to be the biggest mob boss in the city. Once she finds out, she breaks it off with Joey and goes to the police, but now he's threatening her life. Natalie hires Garrett, an ex-SEAL, to protect her. This book had plenty of twists and turns, lots of details, and a great plot. Unfortunately, I had a hard time getting into it and getting through it. Some scenes were long and detailed like the wine tasting and the firing range. The author knows a lot about those subjects. Some character traits were missing and inconsistent. Natalie is introduced as "The Doctor" because she surgically slices her opponents in the courtroom, but her dialog in the book doesn't do her intellect justice and later in the book she says she deals with corporate mergers. Huh? The sex scenes were hot but sometimes the book felt like it was just piecing together sex scenes and some of them were completely unneeded for the book, unless you were looking to read an erotica book. Honestly, I think the book could have been a third shorter.

OMG! Talk about totally rocking it. A rollercoaster ride of mishaps and unpredictable circumstances propelling those swirling emotions bursting to life brilliantly. This little jewel is written with such passion you feel all the gut wretching, uncertainty that really kicks this little gem up a few notches on the hot charts. This is one non-stop, action packed, heart pounding, pulse racing, page turning bombshell that hits the ground running. All the twists, ups and downs, along with a few glitches here and there make for one exciting adventure. Throw in all the drama and suspense and you have one intense, electrifying tale that captures your attention from start to finish. The characters and their personalities are so realistic and believable it feels like you can just reach out and touch them. The scenes are so graphically detailed it really pulls this bad boy together beautifully. You have no trouble picturing each scenario as they play out perfectly. Natalie’s ex, Joey, pulls out all the stops to keep her vulnerable, even threatening her unborn child when he finds she is pregnant. There is nothing he wouldn’t do to get his way, and the suspense is off the charts!
This book is definitely a page-turner the reader should not miss! The characters are fleshed out well. Betrayal is a key theme that is woven throughout the story line. The reader won’t begin to guess how the author will pull all of the actions together on this one to find a resolution! Grab your copy and hang on for the ride of your life!

I had no clue that going into this book that is was technically a romantic suspense. You have our hero Garrett meeting a security specialist and Natalie a high scale attorney. The heroine is being stalked and threatened by her ex-boyfriend. There are major spoilers that I won't give away. Anyhow, she goes to our Hero for help at Shaw Security. Her attraction to him was unexpected yet very enticing.
Garrett is ex-military and very loyal by default almost. Since Natalie has hired him for protection, the two spend a chunk of time together and their relationship grows. Meanwhile there are other aspects that are revolving around the two. When a threat comes in aimed at Garrett's and his family, he takes drastic measures and that also meant that Natalie would have to be put on hold.
You get lies and hidden meanings behind motives and actions. This one a great book! You have to read this in order to get the full extend of the book. This one is has enough twists and turns that you won't want to put it down!

Natalie is a high powered attorney in New York City. Garrett owns his own security company. When Natalie calls on Garrett to protect her, she doesn’t expect to be attracted to him. Natalie has interviewed other security firms, but none feel like a good fit until she meets with Garrett. Natalie isn’t what Garrett expected. Sparks fly almost immediately, and their attraction is hard to ignore. The two do their best to ignore it, but all bets are off after another night together. When secrets are revealed the two go their separate ways. The question is, can they stay away?
I have to say, that this book wasn’t what I was expecting. I thought it was going to be your run of the mill client falls in love with the bodyguard type story, but boy was I wrong. This book was full of twists and turns and Aubrey had me begging for more! That is what I appreciate about the way that Aubrey rights, it’s unpredictable. This book is definitely a page turner and one you won’t be able to put down!

i read this book as part of an arc program. This is the story of Natalie and Garret. Natalie is a lawyer in New York and she finds herself in need of a bodyguard after she finds out her ex is a crime boss and she refuses to be his lawyer. Natalie decides to take the information about her ex to the police, making her a target. Garret is a former Navy SEAL and now owns his own security company with his former teammates. Garret is hired by Natalie to protect her and he wants to do more than protect her. There is an amazing connection between Natalie and Garret and they both are having a hard time fighting their attractions. Garret and Natalie start to develop feelings for one another, but Garret has secrets that could destroy everything. I really loved this book. There were a couple of twists and it was fast paced and full of action. There was a lot of heat between Natalie and Garret and they were great together. I couldn't put his one down.

Natalie has mixed up with a crazy ex that just happens to be involved with the crime family. She knows too much about their business so now they want her for their personal lawyer. She doesn't want to do that so she goes to the police with what she knows. Garrett runs his own security firm and Natalie contacts him to look into getting a bodyguard. She picks Garrett's firm to provide her security but what she doesn't know is that Garrett has a secret that could destroy their relationship before it even has a chance. Will Garrett get a chance to come clean? Can Natalie give him a second chance?
This is a great story that will captivate you from beginning to end. The chemistry between them is off the charts hot. This is a well written and very entertaining story. I would recommend this book to any book lover.

She got herself into a bad situation her ex wasn't what he pretended to be he was in the mob and now he is threatening her he wants her to work as the mob's lawyer but Natalie has no intention of buckling under his pressure She contacts the police but they can't help her so her next course of action is a private security company Shaw Security. Garrett Shaw finds his latest client absolutely stunning he knows he shouldn't act on it but though he may be ex military and have a code of honour he can't leave her alone. When the woman he is beginning to love and who is carrying his child is abducted he will do whatever he needs to keep her safe and return her to him and after all he is a fine tuned killing machine This is a wonderful suspense that draws you in from the first page and never lets you go until you turn that last page. I voluntarily reviewed an advanced reader copy of this book. Lies, misunderstandings and so many more lies. If it wasn't for the very smooth and fluent reading I might not have made it through this one. But since this was my first book by this author, I gave it a shot and what can I say, I wasn't disapointed in the end. Garret definitely has a big chip on his shoulder - one Joey put there and is playing the strings as well. Working with the NYPD to bring her criminal ex (Joey) down, Natalie is in desperate need of protection - such a lovely coincidence that Garret just shows up at the right time to demonstrate how truly in danger she is...a very good writing style that keeps you in the story.

Engaging Story with Likable Characters.
Broken Hero turned out to be a story I liked better than I thought I would. The author set a nice pace for the story to unfold and for the characters to evolve, which they all did except for, the antagonist, Joey. Of course he was a psychopath so one couldn’t expect too much growth from him.
The protagonists, Garret and Natalie were written well. There was only a couple of small glitches that caused a slight blip in my mind but nothing that impacted the overall storyline. Just some glazing over some things.
Definitely recommending this book for your reading enjoyment and pleasure.

Tense & Romantic
Attorney Natalie's ex turned out to be a scumbag crime boss and when he threatens her, she hires Garrett Shaw to be her bodyguard. Handsome, sexy Garrett is between a rock and a hard place and this was probably one of the most tense, suspenseful and aggravating romantic suspense I read in a long time. There are lots of twists and turns and Natalie isn't at all sure who she can trust, for good reason. Natalie and Garrett lives and hea are very much in doubt for a time.
I know it sounds like I didn't like this book, I did and I highly recommend it. It's just that it might need some trigger warnings as far as kidnapping and trust and heroes who may or may not be scumbags.

This book is romance and suspense in one hand turn . Natalie is a highly successful attorney that is in need of protection that can only be handled by on guy Garret and his crew. Garret has had a lot of business with protecting people ,but when he sees Natalie he not quite sure if she might need more than just protection from the bad guy ,but also from him. Natalie finally realized that she can't hold off the fellings that she has for garret and neither can he when they let ever thing go . This book is a must read for those that love suspense ,drama and a lot of romance and don't forget the fact that these two will have out wit a bad guy to find that they would be better off together than apart. I received this book as a arc for a honest review and it is worth a look at.

This book had me going from the very first page. I couldn’t put it down and read it in one night. Who needs sleep right?

Garrett and Natalie's relationship take you on a journey through every emotion under the sun. You truly feel Natalie's heartbreak when she learns of the truth. The chemistry between the 2 make you feel every step of the ups and downs. From bodyguard and client to lovers and all the steamy fun in-between.
I would absolutely recommend this book 100%!!!

Interesting story
This is an interesting story with well developed characters. It is action-packed with steamy scenes and a few huge twists. Really enjoyable.
My reason for 4 stars is that the end cuts off abruptly after the epilogue with a "sign up for the newsletter for the bonus epilogue" message. If there's another chapter, just include it. I signed up for the newsletter and received the confirmation email but not the "welcome" email with the bonus chapter. I felt like the chapter is needed for final closure because the story ends a little abruptly without it.
Otherwise enjoyable read.

I wanted to read this book because I've read a few of Ms. Wright's books and liked the author's writing style.
Natalie is s straight shooting lawyer who gets mixed up with a bad boy bad guy. Garrett is hired to protect her from her mistake. The story is fast paced and intense. It had a great storyline and moved really fast. I loved their chemistry and couldn't put it down until the end.

He has his own bodyguard business and she is a high powered attorney. He was hired to protect her and that was supposed to be it. But they had an attraction to each other and things got hot and steamy. She ends up with a gift from him. He has problems to take care of. This is exciting, emotional, dramatic, intriguing, lots of twists and turns and much more. I love how it grabs your attention and keeps it. It is good when the characters of a story flow so smoothly with it. I received a review copy and voluntarily review it.
