After discovering the library of Menthok-Sikh, the friends find that there is little to be learned in their endeavour, and instead are faced with the remnants of the tower of magic. They must learn the truth about the illusive Evan Whitestiller, who tries to set up shop in the Eastern Kingdom, while the soldiers of the cross remain a menace in the realm. Trouble for the empire ensues as Rimyar tries to establish himself as the freedom fighter of the desert people. Meanwhile, black armoured troops land in numbers at the coast to gain the border region as the dangerous quest for the Claws of the Earth continues.
Part III is an action packed book with a lot of fighting as Rimyar makes his case. The friends are still hunting for every bit of info they can lay there hands on. In the eastern realm Evan Whitestiller is trying hard to set up shop. B. weaves a complex plot combining magic, mystical figures, rebellion, religion and war. Readers are treated to a detailed insight into the minds of the main characters as they battle against fear, politics, injury and death. B. manages to skilfully handle parallel plotlines and a vast array of characters, in order to create a novel which is a truly intriguing read.
