Silly typos aside - whispered in her hear. Tucked a strand of hair behind her year - this story will appeal to readers who enjoy books heavy on detail, with absolutely stunning, slender ladies, something the reader is constantly reminded of, right down to the heroines petite knuckles.
I actually feel like this story tried to be too many things. I was looking forward to reading a story set in the 1980's. However, besides a brief mention here and there of a song from the 80's, the story could've been set in the 21st century.
I also picked it up as a lesbian romance, my bad. The cover, and the blurb, should've clued me that there would be graphic descriptions of MF sex and a FMF scene. Don't get me wrong, I'm partial to both but don't expect to find such content in a lesfic story.
An afterword from the author sums it up. I truly cherished every hour I spent with Rachel, Monica, and yes, even Ramon. I've always been a sucker for a bad boy...
This was somewhere between a 2.5 & 3 star read for me, but in light of not being sure if its my fault or the authors - "Kat Evans, the new voice in Lesbian Romance" - that I got something other than expected I'm not going to rate it.
Edit to above - this story is listed on Amazon as a lesbian romance, therefore as far as the genre goes, I give this "2.5 - I feel cheated - stars"
Monica is deep undercover. DEA. Rachel is Miami P.D. A rookie cop. Monica is experienced. In deep cover as the whore of a Columbian drug dealer, who is not really the one they are after. The DEA is after Ramon's brother Carlos, the real kingpin who never leaves home. Should have worked, right? Wrong. Monica truly is a whore, occasional drug user, and completely incompetent. Rachel wants to make detective and is the only police officer on the entire Miami police force who can actually go undercover and be a bartender. I will spare you from the rest. Fast forward. They work together and the usual stuff happens. Rachel does drugs and whores herself as well. After all she IS undercover. A few drugs and and a threesome later Monica blows it all by giving money to Rachel's crack addicted mother despite Rachel begging her not to. Rachel's cover is blown but not before she comes up with the genius plan to nab Carlos. Rachel is kidnapped. Monica weds Ramon and Carlos gets caught. Ramon discovers Monica is an agent after the ceremony, kidnaps her, Rachel saves Monica. Ramon gets away, maybe or he might be dead. No body discovered. Oops that extremely intelligent as hell agent AKA whore forgets she needs birth control and ends up knocked up. She and Rachel have a son. Steal Ramon's gold stash, that he made selling drugs and are suddenly rich. The end. Except probably not, unfortunately. Why do writers make federal agents the dumbest people on the face of the earth? Could Monica have been anymore stupid then she was? A federal agent allowing herself to become pregnant with the child of a Columbian drug Lord? This book is set in the 1980's there was birth control available, even to federal agents. Completely absurd and now I know better than to read anything else by this writer.
This is a bit of a beach read and I liked it. It's about 2 female cops who are undercover and fall for each other. I could have done without the one having sex with a guy but I'm sure that really happens when someone's deep undercover for 2 years. That being said, I'm a lesbian and just, like yuck. :-D. If you're wondering if it sizzles? It does.
2.5✨ This was just so absolutely ridiculous, I don’t even know what to say. nothing was realistic, rachel and monica are the dumbest girls alive, and I can’t believe their ‘cover’ wasn’t blown from page 1. did I enjoy it? I’m not sure. but I did need to know how it ended. (there is literally no way you could predict the epilogue)
So I'm going to start this with an admission straight up that I found both Monica and Rachel sexy as hell in this book. Now that we've got that out of the way I can assure you that Sizzle does just that.
Kat Evans takes us on a fantastic ride through the high end living that only obscene amounts of drug money can afford and the lengths that people will go to to hold onto it. I have to admit I had my doubts about the genuineness of Monica/Selena almost the whole way through which was great because it kept me guessing and I love that.
At times I seriously wanted to throttle Rachel through this story but it just added to the dynamite chemistry between our two leading ladies. Definitely worth the read and without giving the ending away I loved it!
This is a nice thriller... It's believable, I loved the plot, it's filled with chemistry between the characters, it's delivering hot scenes, and it's a very enojoyable read. I'd gladly recommend this book to anyone.
Best-selling author Kat Evans has done it again! Her new book Sizzle is a fantastic read. Monica and Rachel are smart, strong and sexy. From shark hunting to lap dances, Sizzle is filled with danger, sex, glamour and international intrigue. The story is one that draws you in and doesn't let you go until the very end.

Miami Vice...cool clothes, slick people, and drugs, particularly cocaine. DEA Special Agent Monica Vega/, undercover for almost three years is looking for an opportunity to bring this assignment to a close. Along comes Rookie Detective Rachel Moss/Lana, ready to jump in to help with both feet. Brothers Ramon and Carlos LaMendola are some bad news guys that not only want to stay on top of the drug/cocaine world but build their world even larger. They appear to be smart, in control, and untouchable. I like how Rachel has her eyes on Monica from the beginning and she is relentless in her pursuit. The ending is a little much (Hollywood) but does a good job setting up additional stories. So, what the heck.
If I could read it again for the first time I would. It’s such an amazing book & has you caught from the first page all the way to the last. It’s such an amazing story & you go through so many emotions, sadness, happiness, sexiness, all of them & the romance between everything is so sweet w such an amazing backstory. There’s a few typos but I recommend anyone to read this book!!! It’s so amazing!! If you love reading books about lesbians, drug smuggling, cocaine, mafia, & crime like that then this is your book. It brings all of that together along with under detective work. Throughout the book I couldn’t stop turning pages, I always wanted to know what was going to happen next. The amount of detail in the book was amazing, even the extra spicy scenes had you needing to take a second to make sure no one was around before you continued to read. The relationship that all the characters form make you feel bonded to every single one, so as their character processes so does your feelings & I feel that helps to connect you even more to the characters & fall in love with the story even more.
This book is totally awesome! I'm not sure which character I enjoyed more, Rachel or Monica! Rachel is great but Monica and her one liners cracked me up!
Very good story, full of action and betrayal, a mobster tale and two kick ass female agents, a plot, a romance and an unexpected ending...I enjoyed reading it and I recommend it...
I truely enjoy Kat Evans writing style. I. Love not ever character. Is happy go luck and. Excepting. I prefer little grit in a love story. For me, not everything comes wrapped in neat bow. So thank you Kat. Can't wait for the next one.
My favorite of her books by a wide margin. The love story is sexy and sweet. I loved the mystery, criminal aspect of this book. Definitely worth the price of admission.
