Wow -- that heart plummeting opening scene grabbed my attention! Rife with danger and action, I could tell right away that Perilous Pursuit was going to be a page-turner. Especially with Mackenzie and Jake searing up the pages of my book! Sizzling attraction from the get go (it helps that they have a bit of history.) Jake is poleaxed by Mackenzie's transformation from his best friend's pest of a little sister to the self-assured, direct young woman he rescues from dire circumstances. He admires her grit but hates her job - cue the clashing of wills! I love it when a heroine has an unusual job and I don't think I've read a story about a videographer .before. But she's definitely impetuous when it comes to the lengths she'll go to for her art which truly infuriates Jake. :-) The suspense plot is really unique -- again something I've never seen before in a book...or even heard about...so kudos to the author for that fresh twist. Definitely a must-read for fans of romantic suspense.

My review today is on the Love Inspired Suspense, Perilous Pursuit. I really enjoy Kathleen's books. I'm always glad to get one of her books in the mail. This book is well written, action packed, and fast paced. Faith is interwoven throughout the story as a fine tapestry, I know you are going to love it.

Documentary Film Maker Mackenzie Weaver comes home from shopping only to be shot at and then attacked. The men said they were looking for a movie. She has no idea what they are talking about.

She is rescued by a U.S. Marshal. He seemed familiar. Oh no, her one time childhood crush.

Deputy U.S. Marshal Jake Riley goes to visit a friend when he hears gun shots and responds to help a woman in trouble. She turns out to be the sister of his best friend that was killed four years ago. She use to follow them around like a puppy. Man, she is all grown up. It turns out that she is to do a documentary film on his unit. This will not do. The men come back to attack her again. Can he keep her safe without letting her get close to him?

A journey of terror as these men try to destroy Mackenzie and all her work. What did she capture on film that is worth killing her. Can they ignore the attraction between them and work together to solve this mystery. God has a plan for these two, a plan for a hope and a future. God has a plan for you too, give Him your heart and watch Him straighten up your mess.

Kathleen Tailer is a very impressive individual--an attorney who teaches online; who with her husband adopted 5 special needs children out of the system and had 3 biological children; who is a drummer in the worship band; who served in the National Guard. That's just a bit of her bio!

As you may expect, Kathleen Tailer's writing reveals her intelligence and knowledge of the foster care system. I love her vocabulary--anyone who dismisses Love Inspired books as low level should read this writer!

Perilous Pursuit was enjoyable in that Tailer presents a little known crime--stealing data from old office machines. I had no idea copiers store such extensive information. I also liked the hazard in this book--the sinkhole you see on the cover. As far as I know, sinkholes have not been used extensively by mystery writers, so it was refreshing to see it in a novel.

This is one of the better love-inspired suspense stories that I've read. It was well-written and well-edited. The history between the main characters made the love story more believable and the action was almost non-stop, but allowed some breathing room.

I highly recommend you give it a read.

My first book by Kathleen Tailer and my continued attempts to read outside my normal books brought me to this book. This story is kind of everything I expected from a Love Inspired romantic suspense --it's a bit formulaic (for me), but there's suspense, there's personal growth, and there's romance.

It started out with action and kept the main characters in danger throughout the story. Their spiritual development isn't in the forefront, but it's there and it develops throughout the story. If you're looking for a romantic suspense that's not too scary or too preachy, give this book a try!

Rate PG for thematic elements.

Picking up a Kathleen Tailer book means I will probably be up late, not wanting to put it down. Perilous Pursuit follows that pattern: intrigue from the opening, chapter after chapter. Doesn’t slow down, just takes you down twisted paths. I was delighted as well by the insights offered on the impact of past betrayal on new relationships & as always with Kathleen’s books, the part faith can play. Loved the resolution!
