"You can't say no to a pistol in the face." ~ Caleb

Bren's missing with a bounty on his head, which isn't Caleb's problem, until Turner Candelario makes it Caleb's problem. But why does a pirate with an ax to grind suddenly want to work with the down-and-out captain who killed his sister?

Coded messages. Abandoned mining outposts. And Fran's keeping secrets.

The mission stinks worse than the iron mines, but what else is there to do in the Nine systems now Caleb's trying to fly-right? Besides, Bren's bounty looks mighty tempting.

One should be dead, but death didn't stop her before. Chitec is gone, the Nine systems left in disarray, and in the chaos, One moves among them like a ghost, seeing what others cannot: a new malevolent force rises. A force One has encountered before. And caught in the middle of it all? Brendan Shepperd.

Chitec was just the beginning. The true 1000 Revolution begins now...

***

Caleb and the crew of the stolen Fortuitous are back. Vengeful pirates, bitter betrayal, gratuitous sex, missing synths, and more...

You didn't think it was all over... Did you?

Please note: This series was previously known as Girl From Above.

Pippa, you make me afraid to continue with the last book, especially since you left the series unfinished. I have a feeling you will rip my heart to pieces once again. However, I am here for the ride.

Spoilers for the previous books, be aware. Caleb has retired from his nefarious ways and now manages a bar. Badly. Also, he is bored out of his mind. Apparently, not enough to try to find his missing brother. However, Turner Candelario makes an appearance and forces Caleb to go exploring. Fran is being Fran, full of secrets and all. One is not dead, not that Caleb knows that. She is trying to find her way, now that Chitec is destroyed, but everything starts to go wrong when she received a strange beacon signal which she cannot ignore. It seems that a new threat has risen.

OUT NOW!

“How fucked are we?”
Fran leaned back in the co-pilots chair, thought her answer through, and turned to look me in the eyes. “Brendan and Caleb Shepperd have joint bounties out for a million c’s, each. Dead or alive.”
I cleared my throat. “Fuck, I might hand myself in.”
“You’ve been declared enemies of the Nine Systems.”
So this was what being famous felt like. I rested my boots on the flightdash. “Just another perfect fucking day in the black.”

If you haven't started this series yet, start at Betrayal now FREE!

I absolutely love Pippa DaCosta's 1000 Revolution series so I was thrilled when she announced she was writing a whole new series of books about these characters. Think of Deliverance as the first book in season two of the 1000 Revolution, it's the beginning of a whole new overarching plot but because it draws heavily on events that have gone before it's not really the best place to start if you're new to this world so I'd strongly recommend starting with the first book, Betrayal.

Anyway, this story picks up a few months on from the end of Trust. Caleb believes that One is dead and blames himself, he's been staying on planet running a bar but when Fran and the pirate Turner Candelario steal his ship to go hunting for his brother Caleb is forced to shake himself off and get back into the game. Brendan has been missing for weeks and there's a huge bounty on his head but just what did he do to deserve that? Meanwhile One has found herself a new body but she's also uncovered some very dark and dangerous secrets that she's uniquely qualified to deal with. There are reasons that she's not contacted Caleb to tell him she survived but it won't be too long before their paths cross as they're both thrown right back into another deadly fight for survival.

It was so much fun being back in this world. I'm glad I chose to reread the previous books first because I'd forgotten so much in the three years since the last release. These characters all have such complex histories and all love hoarding secrets so every time you think you have something worked out a new twist comes along and changes everything. Deliverance was just as action packed as I hoped it would be, there is danger around every corner and you never know what will happen next. I'm so glad we've got another 3 books to look forward to and I can't wait to spend more time in this world.

More Caleb and One! More Fran! This is going to be epic! OMG Pippa what are you doing to me you tease!!!

PIPPA: I know you're out there. I know you'll read this. I just wanted to take a personal moment to thank you. Thank you from the bottom of my heart for writing another book in this series.

Caleb and One are back!! YES!! This is by far my favorite series by Pippa DaCosta. I missed this family and I'm glad they're back.

Caleb and One are my favorite couple and I wanted to see them come together with fireworks exploding. But of course Caleb always fucks things up (Fran's words, not mine).

Deliverance picks up a few months later where we left off with book 4. Caleb has to pull himself together and go search for his missing brother, Bren. There are a whole bunch of familiar faces and one new. This story is jammed packed with all the action and spacey stuff. You know I can't wait till the next book, but I understand I must learn the patient ways of a Jedi, because of writing details and such.

At first I had a bit of a problem getting back to this world. After all I had made my peace with the ending of the original series. But after a few snarky comments from Fran and Caleb being the a@@ we all love I was fully immersed into the book. It felt like coming home and I couldn't be happier.

The story promises to be even more interesting and with higher stakes than before. No good deed goes unpunished and Caleb and One will have to deal with a ghost from the past that wants to reshape the Nine Systems into a synthetic's dream. And I can't wait to embark on the next stage of this journey!

This is so good to be back in this world that I love love love.

It was just like the first four books : full of action, plot twists, backstabbing, yummy-cool-broken-complex-so-cool characters. I'm obvisouly quite in love with it. (but of course this book doesn't love me back and kept punching me in the face and the guts) (but of course that's what I'm here for !)

I'm doing a series re-read before Resistance is released at the end of August (if you haven't preordered it, do it now!) and realised that whilst the entire series are all 5 ✨ reads for me, I haven't actually written a review for any of them 🥴 I will try to keep this spoiler free (next to impossible), but do bear in mind that you need to read the entire series in order, before you start on Deliverance.

This series is in the sci-fi genre, set in space (the Black), on remote planets and far away galaxies. It's packed full of gritty and witty dialogue, and with the usual 'down and dirty' business 😈that Pippa DaCosta is so good at, and which spills over from her urban fantasy works. I totally adore all of these these characters - Caleb, One, Fran, even Bren - they are all so flawed and treacherous and loyal and vulnerable and resilient and honest and absolutely RAW. Just a motley crew of space pirates of dubious character trying to save the world really, helped in no small part by a synthetic assassin with a human soul (don't argue with me, she still has one and it's all her own), who has learnt about love and the value of life. And she can kick some serious ass to boot!

Deliverance picks up a few months after the events of Trust and Caleb is devastated, but he's back in the Black doing what he's good at, looking for Bren and trying to avoid the bounty on his head. The snarky comments are back and so is Fran - but can she be trusted? And will the shock return of One finally make him face the truth of his feelings for her...

Honestly, I cannot wait for Resistance but I swear if Pippa DaCosta doesn't find a way to create a HEA for our faves (and I'm not really sure quite how that would work but hey) then I may have to beat a path to her door! 😁

5 ✨✨✨✨✨ all the way.

(One's) Revolution Begets Revolution

Changed by the climactic events of Book 4 and the apparent demise of One, Caleb's trying to be a (slightly) better man. But the rest of the galaxy has other ideas, and he can't outrun his past - the mistakes or the heroism. Luckily, he's got Fran to deviously watch his back and sort-of-mostly rescue him.

Meanwhile, One's careful exploration of her growing...I hesitate to say "humanity," so we'll go with "soul"...leads her to uncover an ominous conspiracy rising from the ashes of Chitec, Hung and the 1000, and sends her and Caleb on a collision course with one another yet again. As it should be, because they're the only ones who will ever be able to redeem each other.

Superb

It was fantastic getting back in the black with Caleb and Fran.
Caleb thinks that One is dead.Chitec and Fleet are gone so the Fenir nine are in charge of the Nine systems. Caleb’s on the ground and owns Tinks bar, a slow life when your not in the black and haven’t had a drink for weeks. Ha, life in Pippa’s worlds are never so quiet and straight forward, as Caleb is about to find out when Fran and Turner (Caleb killed his sister) steal his means of transportation out into the black to look for his brother who has a bounty on his head. What has Bren Shepard been up to,to warrant a bounty on his head. So Caleb’s gonna find out, and thus we are in for a wild ride full of action. I thoroughly enjoyed this space adventure. Recommended reading for all sci fi and fantasy fans also action packed ones too.

I held off reading this one, because while I most certainly love this series, and Pippa has made me a masochist (she keeps kicking, reaping and stomping on whatever is left of my little shriveled black heart), I was not prepared to read this prior to being closer for the next book's release date. I'm not stupid, only slightly miscalculated. Because, now that I think about it, perhaps I should have waited this roller coaster of a series to be finished before I jumped in?
Maybe....
But I'm already in, the tide is strong and I won't see the shore again. So...I'll just deal with it.

Anyway, here Pippa is kicking off season two of the story, and it means more of everything - more explosions, more twists, more actions, more dubious acts and questionable motives, and mainly more of - One, Caleb and Fran being their questionably moral, slightly broken, quite dysfunctional and entirely charming selves.

But most importantly an ass kicking plot. What can I say? I'm hooked...and I never want to be free.

Just when you thought the 1000 Revolution was over.... It's Not!

She's baaack!! One, yes that One, 1001 to be precise, has returned in a new tale that would be the beginning of Three new stories about the 1000 Revolution. Applied Alert! One didn't die in the black. Well, her robotic Android body may have frozen in space but if you're One, the one more than a thousand androids than are supposed to exist, uploaded her being to the cloud and downloaded herself to an identical shell. Is she the same? She looks sort of but not really different than before. Why didn't she tell Captain Shepard she didn't die? She should have because now that she's caught and on the operating table her processes may never be the same.

Last but not least Book 5 :) a start to a new chapter and this definitely felt like the beginning of something. I feel like we've had 5 books of leg work and I'm more than ready to see the payoff.

I did take off a star because while I enjoyed the novel it just felt a bit transitional and not much of anything went on. It pretty much just gets our characters back together for round 2.

I'm starting to feel a bit frustrated with the real lack of Caleb & One. We can only take pining glances for so long :(

3.5. It's admittedly been a while since I read the previous books, but I remember enjoying them more than I did this one. Maybe because one and Caleb are barely together in this, or the fact Caleb goes on about being I tested on Fran, even if it's just physical, but that didn't really sit right with me.

I like Caleb though, in that self destructive mind if anti hero way. And One was in this so little it's hard go comment on her.

I'll pick up the next to hope for more Caleb and One development.

#One knows that she and the rest of the synths are built to kill and she knows that she and Caleb really aren't good together. Caleb saw her get sucked out into space and so he's trying to forget about her ... by doing a deal with the double-crossing Fran (who isn't dead). And where is Bren?

Pippa has killed half the team... but they're not dead really.

Plots are as crazy and complicated as usual - and the lovely little girl! (How dare Pippa?)

All hail Pippa DaCosta for continuing on with this series. She truly can do no wrong.

Deliverance is a quick read, but it’s the perfect bridge to connect the existing books with the next chapter of One, Caleb, and Fran’s story - and what I’m sure will be plenty of blood, betrayal, and epicness to come.

I’m already dying to know what’s next.

It's good to be back in the company of Caleb and Fran again. I was hoping the series would go off in a different direction after how the last book ended (), but there's enough going on to keep things interesting. What I will say though is I either read this very quickly, or it's very short...

This book, boy this book not only entertained but tore my heart to pieces SO MANY TIMES!

I didn't realise just how much I'd missed Caleb, One, Bren and Fran until I started reading this. Those guys just grab a hold of your heart and hold it hostage. Squeezing it every now and then to ensure you remember just how much you love them all. It left me alternately exhilarated, emotionally drained, electrified, crushed and hopeful. The writing is excellent and left me needing more.

I crouched in front of her and took her warm hand in mine.
"It's all right. A friend of mine once told me, when you get scared, just count the stars and the fear will go away."

How could you make me fall in love with Josie and Patrick (two side characters) and then do that? You evil author! Even if . The twists, the turns, the bluffs, double bluffs and is it a bluffs had me mesmerised and on the edge of my seat. I couldn't turn the pages quickly enough and adored every single moment of reading this book, never wanting it to end.

"You ever see a button you just gotta press?"
"No, which is why women live longer than men," Fran bend down and frowned.

This could be read as a stand alone story, though reading the rest of the 1000 Revolution books would enhance the experience. They are also AMAZING stories and well worth reading. I simply cannot adequately put into words how brilliant this book is.

"Que te folle un pez."
I had no idea what that meant, but I liked how it sounded.

Another winner by Pippa DaCosta! Out of all the series by Pippa, the Revolution series was the last ones I read. Once I started it the books were extremely hard to put down. The concept of synthetic humans is a bit scary.
But the series is too good to not read!
The relationship between Caleb and 1001 is amazing. In the latest book Caleb is searching for his brother and overlooks one very important set of clues. One as he calls her is still alive! Brendan knows there is more going on than others realize.
In the search for his brother with Fran’s help for finding Brendan lots more will be uncovered! The action is fast and the plot twists will keep your attention! You know there is going to be another book which I look forward to reading.
You can only give a story five stars but I would give this book ten stars!
Excellent writing, Pippa DaCosta!
