The last thing closeted musician Quinn needs is to walk in on his hot, British private investigator fresh from the shower before he gets his towel on.
And that's not even the most embarrassing thing that's happened to him today.
Quinn: Private investigators aren't supposed to be hot.
But with his sexy scar and devil-may-care attitude, Fox hits all my buttons. I'm not allowed to be gay, but he's perfect enough to make me want to break the rules. As if that wasn't bad enough, he's the only person who seems to care about how miserable I am.
With my career on the line and no one else to turn to, Fox makes me feel safe in a way no one else ever has. Maybe I can be myself if he's sticking around? Maybe the rules aren't as important as I thought they were.
If I can just finish this album and keep my contract, maybe I could keep him, too...
Fox: After all the hell I gave my business partner for falling into bed with a client, I'll never live down how much I like Quinn. Tiny and adorable, just my type, and in desperate need of someone to take care of him.
I want to take care of him in every possible way. Between his cruel uncle, callous record company, and whoever's trying to ruin his career before it even takes off, I want to bundle him up in bed and make him forget all about it for a few hours.
He's impossible to resist, and I've promised him everything's going to be all right. Now I just need to find a way to make that happen...
Gifted is a full-length, complete gay romance with a HEA ending, and the second book in the Guardian Angels Security series. It contains: an unfortunate incident with an adult video, multiple peanut butter cups, steamy scenes, a motorcycle named Blaze, a picnic under the stars, and true love conquering all.
Sean Ashcroft likes rainy days, white hot chocolates (don't knock it 'til you've tried it!) and boys kissing in books. He currently resides in Australia, all the way down at the bottom of the mainland in a sleepy little seaside town.
He writes sweet, hot books about sweet, hot boys who absolutely deserve each other.
***** #2 in this fast moving Guardian Angel Security series. Each strong ex-military man is willing to do what it takes to help the other. Here we have Quinn, trying to make his mark in his music that he loves, but he's managed by his shady uncle. Quinn is closeted by his uncles insistence. A new song is "leaked" and the record company hires ex-British SAS, Fox to figure it out. In his attempts and close proximetry to Quinn, they each realize how attracted they are.
Younger, smaller, Quinn is a virgin and we see the whole slow burn process of romance and true love. We get many sexy times, very steamy and hot, that develops for our men.
Sean Ashcroft gives us what we like; the thrills, action, pasts, sex, and conclusions. He makes us care about his beautiful characters. The ending and epilogue are "lovely."
As someone who hasn’t read the first book (couldn’t get into it) I can tell you that you can indeed read it as a complete standalone because everything you need to know about the characters and background story gets told during the first few pages.
The book as such was also very good and I really liked it mainly because of Fox! That guy was such a sweetheart <3 he was protective, sweet, confident enough to defend the oppressed and didn’t shy away to state his opinion to people with way too much money. Since I’m a big fan of the “opposite attract”-trope I had a big weakness for his and Quinn’s relationship and in the beginning I really rooted for them.
BUT that changed the moment Quinn threw Fox under the bus and flat out LIED to save his own ass. I hated that moment so much and I felt SO SO bad for Fox since he really loved Quinn, and did and gave EVERYTHING for him. And instead of doing the same for him, Quinn literally threw Fox to the sharks. So it’s no wonder that after that scene I just despised him and actually hoped that Fox found another guy.
If that scene wouldn’t have happened it would have been a 4 stars rating but in that case… Quinn killed it, thanks buddy!
I like Fox and Quinn as a couple. What I didn’t like was something that Quinn did around the 74% mark. He basically threw Fox under the bus. I get it. I understand it. Fox didn’t even fault him for it. But it was so wrong. Had I not been so far into the book – and eager to read the next one – I probably would’ve DNF’d.
Overall, I did enjoy this, but you really have to leave reality at the door if you go to read it. The sex scenes were good. Quinn was a virgin but Fox was amazingly gentle and caring. Hell, he was that way throughout the whole book. The next one in the series is Glittered, Logan’s story. Logan’s bi but I don’t think he’s figured that out yet. 😉
I read the first book in this series a while back, and loved it of course, but this one wasn’t out yet and I lost track. I’m so happy to have now picked the series back up and reacquainted myself with the snarky, cocky Fox, ex-armed forces and newly qualified to bring down any cheating husband or wife as a PI. In this book, he’s coming out of his comfort zone - although with the confidence exuded you wouldn’t know it - to find out who’s behind the leaks of tiny pop star Quinn’s songs. And maybe to get a little bit closer to this beautiful closeted boy, if he’s lucky. Gotta be honest, as a whodunnit this isn’t too taxing, although I did oscillate between whether the leaks/thefts were a solo or collaborative effort. More important is watching Quinn come out if his shell with a bit of support, which is gorgeous. Fox showing his ‘vulnerable underbelly’ is an adorable bonus. A lovely, sweet story to get your teeth into - and maybe read with a cuppa tea?
Quinn is a sweet man who’s totally duped and abused by his uncle, who’s his manager, trying to fulfill a contract for his singing career. But, his songs are being leaked, so a PI is hired by the record company.
Fox is the PI, and he’s immediately protective of Quinn, who’s overworked and afraid to stand up for himself and let everyone down, in particular his parents, who believed in him all his life.
Quinn comes to rely on Fox, who’s the only one to look out for him, and Fox grows to be unable to not take care of Quinn, to protect him from anything that could hurt him.
The “mystery” isn’t one, it’s clear who’s sabotaging Quinn, and it’s strange that even after Fox sees the proof, he almost leaves without finishing up the case.
There’s a bit too much going on, with Quinn being in the closet unnecessarily, the sabotage, him being overworked but trying to get his new album done, and Fox trying on his investigator hat.
A singer with tons of pressure on him and a private investigator hired to find who's been leaking the music. I just love how Fox came into Quinns life and just made it better right from the start. He's protective, he's hot, he has humor and all his attention is on Quinn. And while they grow closer Fox makes Quinn see his worth and boost his confidence but Quinn also show Fox that he can be vulnerable and that he wants someone to love.
Opening scene was the best, I loved it! This one had a lot if humor as well as the sappy, sweet, shy characters Ashcroft is known for. This one was actually better than the first. Obvious bad guy is obvious but it's more of a romance novel than a crime drama. Sex scenes are filled with cute, warm humor, nice and long and introspective. A smattering of angst, it's mostly fluffy though. No typos but some wierd sentences.
Fox <3 .... loved him as a secondary character in book 1 & now I love & adore him! Quinn is a musician whose songs are being leaked, Fox is hired to find out who. Well written story filled with equal parts romance, laughter & hot sex. Loved the chemistry between these 2 characters. I received an Arc for an honest opinion.
A fantastic read that is a great addition to this series. It is a slow burn between two wonderful characters, Quinn and Fox. I love watching them grow closer throughout the story and their chemistry is undeniable. I can;t wait for more form this series. I voluntarily reviewed an advanced reader copy of this book.
I enjoying this series. The characters are likeable and the plot lines are good. The reason I have it a 4 is because of all the words out in italics even when they shouldn't be. It was really distracting to me! Please only emphasize with italics if it really needs to be! Otherwise good.
Very entertaining in ways I didn't expect. Doesn't end like I expected though it is a HEA book. I generally don't care for books about the music industry, but this books MC Quinn had me rooting for him in ways I didn't expect with plot twist and an ending I didn't expect but thought was perfect.
I just fell in love with Quin! Such an adorable character. He and Fox were such a good match. Fox was a real bada#@ and ended up being Quin's real knight in shining armour.
Poor Quinn, he was placed in such a tough situation, and it was killing him. Fox was the perfect person to help Quinn break free and find happiness. This story was adorable and sweet with action packed moments and sweet, hot sex scenes. I enjoyed it thoroughly.
-bi british private investigator who's deaf in one ear -young gay pop singer-songwriter -attempts at the perfect cup of tea --tea was probably harmed in the making of this book -steamy and vers antics -humor -B&E in the name of love
CW: emotional manipulation, gaslighting and abuse by a side character
I really enjoyed this book. Love Fox, and seeing him meet the man he supposed to be with. Quinn's situation was very screwed up and Fox was just what he needed
Okay, so I loved this one even more than Guarded. Quinn and Fox are my absolute favorites. I adore how soft they were for each other and how they just meshed so perfectly. So happy to get to hear more about Fox's past and really thrilled to see more of Logan and Lucas. The Guardian Angels found family is the best and I adore them.
this and all future re-reads: love this series so much.
