Enjoy this new classic Western from Sam Scott. No profanity or swearing. Plenty of action, honor and a little love.
In Captive Justice (2019), Book 2 in Sean Scott's Western Justice series, twelve-year-old Jed Whittier is orphaned when is family is slaughtered by cutthroats who attack their wagon train for nothing more than their scant belongings. He escapes only because he is away from the camp fishing and is rescued by accident when a stranger unexpectedly comes by. From then on, Jed must grow up fast, try to remember the lessons his father taught him about becoming a man, and learn new ones the hard way. His goal becomes to get old enough with enough talent that he can get justice for his family against the outlaws who killed them. That isn't easy in the 1872 West. He must survive an outlaw camp, being falsely accused of a murder he didn't commit, all the while struggling to feed himself. But easy doesn't matter to him anymore. Only justice.
One piece that sets this book apart from other Westerns--other fiction in general--is it includes no profanity. Hard to imagine considering the setting and characters, but true.
This is one of the most harmonious and heartwarming stories I have had the opportunity to read. Mr. Scott does an excellent job of getting his readers complete, and undivided attention from the very beginning and they never lose concept of his fully intended results. If on love excitement, romance, and plenty of gunplay, then climb aboard for the read of your life.
Most definitely another five star extravaganza by one of masters of outstanding American western folklore adventures but start this book early, as you will not release want to put it down until the final paragraph has been completed! There are suspenseful momentum beginning to end, but hang in there with Jed, Rebekah and Tom Creek will lead author you through one exciting adventure after the other. MacDuff, flash the final ground work for Jed and Rebekah's final encounter and all is well that end well! Outstanding storylines throughout this compelling and compassionate masterpiece. The characters are unmatched in their appropriately assigned roles, and the heartwarming adventure of the good guys are unsurpassed. Recommend this compelling masterpiece to all readers,d regardless of your reading preferences, but you genuine western followers will, most definitely, be thrilled from beginning to end. Do not miss this book, or the loss will definitely be yours!
I truly like this author, writing a classic western is not done by drawing up a chemical formula of mathematical directive, it is something that comes from the heart. The beauty of taking common words to bring life to people who lived so very long ago who were brave enough to live their lives in these lonely lands . They made their own futures, and left a great legacy for generations to come. These are stories that need to be told, because I believe that even the best fiction has to have quite a bit of fact woven within in order to be believable. Please keep on doing what you do so very well. BRAVO 👏👏BRAVO 👏👏BRAVO 👏👏
An SS. Western (WJB. -2) /Families Moving West/Comancheros/One Survivor/Growing Up/A Lady
Ss. has penned a western adventure, which begins with fInanciers attacking A small wagon train with one survivor. The survivor moves around with an outlaw gang, but finally managed to get free. The young man hunts for his family and finds them deceased. He begins to travel with a buffalo hunting group, which ends in disaster. He finds a job in a store and later works as a guide. He is befriended by a rancher and his wife. The man who rescued him leaves a will. This is an excellent read for the genre.....DEHS
I enjoyed this story. When I read I like to learn something new. In many stories there is mention of buffalo hunters but never any detail about what they do or what a buffalo stampede is like. Both things are covered in this story. The characters are relatable.
Devastating ambush takes a boys family, but he survived to grow in to a strong young man.
Jed Whittier survived the ambush that took his family. The lessons he learns from his rescuer Tom Creek provide the impetus for the young boy to grow into a fine young man who does get the ranch and the girl of his dreams in the end.
Disappointing compared to the excellent first book. The first book was a feel-good read, pretty much all the way thru. By contrast, the first 80% of this second book was very grim. It was unpleasant to read about the buffalo slaughter in detail. So many things went badly for the young man. The feel-good ending was short.
What a wonderful book this was. Such great characters and action galore. A definite page turner and a must read. Would highly recommend this book to everyone that enjoys a great western.
I have liked Sam Scott’s writing ever since I read the first one. This was the best of the five Have read. Real cowboy and buffer hunting along with a love that we all knew would happen.
The author is a master at developing his characters. He takes readers through a variety of scenarios that develop the hero's characteristics of loyalty, perseverance, honesty and generosity.
This was such an exciting read. It started with Jesus family being slaughtered by outlaws. The story follows Jed as he grows up and learns how to be an adult. This is 2nd book I have read by this author and have not been disappointed. Great series!
Jed a boy is left orphaned when a gang of thugs murdered his family. He and Tom rescue a kidnapped girl and bring her back to her father. I really enjoyed the book. Only problem he never explained what happened to the vigilante committee.
