The more I think about this final installment, the more pissed off I get. This book is a joke.

Never Never opened with an exciting premise. Two teens have lost all their memories and must piece together who they are and what happened to them.

Never Never: Part Two dawdled a little, but remained compelling. Just what was going on? What happened between Charlie and Silas's families? More clues are revealed. Secrets are uncovered.

All that build...
All those clues being pieced together...
Surprising reveals and family betrayals...

All... for that ending.
One which leaves a million loose ends.
One which says "fuck you" to every clue and piece of information introduced.
This is the dumbest, soppiest excuse for a mystery I have ever read.

I enjoyed this last part because I really like the characters Colleen and Tarryn created, but I'm somewhat disappointed with the explanation they gave to all this mystery. I can't believe that everything that happened was because of... of... THAT. What about all the clues we found in the first two parts? I thought they were leading us to something, BUT NO! The authors choose the most cheesy and ridiculous explanation to the memory loss :/. And I'm not really mad, as I said: I enjoyed the final part, but I expected something amazing and just not... THAT.

ANYWAY, it wasn't a bad ending.

"Fate is a magnetic pull of our souls toward the people, places, and things we belong with"

Mmmh. What to rate this one. I only read this book because I was really intrigued and I needed to know how everything ended. Honestly, I lost interest in Silas and Charlie story, it's been a while since I finished part two and I wasn't happy with that cliffy, I really thought there were going to be just two books. I actually waited for part two to come out so I could start book one... I felt like killing someone when I finished part two and read the "To be continued..." THAT WAS CRUEL, COLLEEN AND TARRYN.

description

Never Never part three picks up where part two left off (I've never hated a cliffy so much). Silas and Charlie are in the motel waiting anxiously for 11:00 am, the time where all their memories disappear.
Thankfully, there's a new situation here. Charlie, as expected, "wakes up" and doesn't recognize the guy in front of her but apparently Silas remembers every single minute of the last two days. Here's the famous question thay we've been asking over and over again while reading this novella. "HOW?".

To be honest, I feel kind of disappointed. I was hoping for something more or another explanation for the way it ended or I don't know, a WHAT THE FUCK/Mind-blowing fact. You see, I really liked where the mystery was leading me to and the book had my full attention but when I finally read the cause for Silas and Charlie's memorie loss I almost lost it.

description

Spoiler Alert!

It fucking seemed like "Once Upon a Time" or a Disney movie with that thing about the "True Love's Kiss".

description

I know their kiss didn't "break the spell" but come on... Soul mates? Destiny? Fate? I mean, it was a good idea but nopes. It wasn't enough for me, I was expecting some crazy turn or something else. We're talking about a CoHo and Tarryn Fisher book... It was impossible not to expect some crazy shit! Boo.

description

As for the writing, I have no complains there. It was really good, it made stay up all night reading and I felt my eyes glued to every page. CoHo and Tarryn delivered a well-written story full of love, suspense and mystery. Every chapter was captivating, as always.

Charlie and Silas story was okay for me. Not my favorite but I found their relationship intriguing and lets be real, those two could be super cute sometimes. It was little bit cheesy but I can deal with that, as far as the story is good and keeping me entretained, it's all goody.

“The only thing I have room for in this head of mine right now is the firm belief that fate absolutely exists. Fate…soul mates…time travel…you name it. It all exists. Because that’s what her kiss feels like. Existence.”

Although I'm feeling unsatisfied and disappointed by the way it ended I actually enjoyed this story but I can't ignore the fact that I had high expectations for this book.

“Trust your gut. Not your heart, because it’s a people pleaser, and not your brain, because it relies too heavily on logic.”

This was the third, and final, part of Silas and Charlie's story. While I didn't hate the story's conclusion as much as most of my friends did, I am definitely disappointed. I feel so....underwhelmed.

Charlie and Silas continue digging around, following the clues that they've left for themselves. Eventually, they unearth some disturbing truths. The reasons for their relationship's decline were explained at last, which was kind of sad.

However, after all the build-up and suspense surrounding the reasons for their amnesia, we are given a cheesy, ridiculous reason. Seriously? It was a total let down!

I was willing to accept aliens, government conspiracies/government testing, drugging by one of their angry dads, some sort of accident...virtually anything but what we got. Instead, after all the anticipation, we are given a sweet, but completely unbelievable explanation. It was almost like they just got sick of the story and just wanted to end it quickly. Again, it was disappointing.

That being said, I didn't completely hate Part Three. There were some very interesting revelations and I was still very engaged right up until the ending. I'm a bit torn because I actually liked most of it, but the ending really dragged it down. So, I'm going to average it and go with a 3-star rating. It started out as a 4, but the ending was a 2.

“I could spend every day getting to know you all over again, Charlie, and I don't think I'd get sick of it.”

When I started reading this finale of Never Never series, I've already decided to rate it either 4 or 5 stars. That moment when you're confident enough that the final book will give you the grandest, most surreal surprise. (Guess we all deserve that after those series of cliffhanger endings..) I must say my expectations were too high on this because I've enjoyed the first and the second book real hard! (Part 1 - 4/5 stars; Part 2 - 5/5 stars).

The first half of the book hooked me big time! The thrill of getting closer to finding out the mystery behind Silas and Charlie's amnesia was overwhelming and so were the series of events which were getting edgier as the chapters went by. I swear I got a lot going on on my mind and I was forming way too many theories, trying to figure out the dreaded truth! And BAAAM! The anticipated plot twist. Wait, is that even a plot twist?

description

In my opinion, it's just an explanation. Nothing really exciting and I couldn't bring myself to consider it a twist. It's painful to say this but I was significantly less impressed with the revelation I've been freaking out over the months. There was this huge revelation about Charlie's dad though, but... Is that it? After all? Ugh.

I guess the only thing that does not make this book a total let-down was of course, the beautiful and powerful writing of Colleen Hoover and Tarryn Fisher. The story was a quick, fast-paced read and there were no boring parts all throughout the book. The romance also got me on my feels on a lot of levels. I guess those were the factors that held me together.

(Some beautiful quotes I've highlighted, by the way. :)

“I don’t see anything ever happening in this life that could make me not want you all over my skin.”

“I love you. Enough to camouflage you into my skin.”

“Fate is the magnetic pull of our souls toward the people, places, and things we belong with.”

“We can't take back who we've been in the past, Charlie. But we can control who we are in the present.”

Overall, Never Never: Part Three was good, but I wasn't really wowed. It could be an epic finale if there was a better twist. It really lacked the freak-me-out factor. But well... it wasn't really that bad at all since the ending and the epilogue were great and the questions were answered in the end.

“Never stop. Never forget.”

"Never Never"

I was one of the few not so wowed by the second installment of this series. However, I loved the first book of this three book series. The idea of the story is interesting as are the characters in this series.

On this release day, I happily one clicked this final installment excited for the big reveals…

description

I was prepared for any assortment of explanations for this former couple’s constant amnesia: zombies, aliens, body swapping, voodoo what I got was CUTE yet felt lacking.

"...what if soul mates exist? And once they come together, they can't fall apart?"

description

Overall, this is a quick read being just under one hundred pages. I'm left feeling content in the ending and at the same time a bit underwhelmed.

Buddy read with Rechellyn (click to read her sentiments about it)

I've been waiting for so long.
After that torture cliffhanger.
I'm just desperate for an explanation of all these craziness.
Now, it's over.

I'm going to be honest.
I'm underwhelmed.
I wasn't thrilled nor surprised by the twist.
I was expecting it to be a mindfuck.

Overall, it's an entertaining novella series.
The ending isn't as good as I've expected.

Sooo, finally i put an end to this ‘trilogy’ and it seems that a lot of people dislikes this part the most, and for me is the opposite since i enjoyed it more than i did compared with the other two. Now don’t get me wrong im not saying that this was absolutely good or anything but it was so much more bearable and it didn’t really felt like a chore for me.
“Trust your gut. Not your heart, because it’s a people pleaser, and not your brain, because it relies too heavily on logic."

Since the very beginning I couldn’t really connect with the story at all, the first part was a complete mess and nonsense, the second part was slightly better since it seemed that the authors did knew what they were doing this time and now part three didn’t have that much content and a lot of things that seemed important were left a side because of the ending. Yeah sure the fact that they couldn’t remember anything is because they “broke up” and fate says that they were soulmates is just sooo darn cute obvs

But i don’t know I kinda expected a better solution to this problema, lets say that i had high expectations after all the mystery. I was not satisfied with that ending, especially with the epilogue, I think it was rubbish the fact that it was now happening to their kids ¿??
“Adults like to pretend that our feelings aren’t as big and important as theirs—that we’re too young to really know what we want. But I think what we want is similar to what they want. We want to find someone who believes in us. Who will take our side and make us feel less lonely.”

Well at least im just done with this alredy and I honestly could have given this book easily just 1 star, 1.5 to be nice…but im giving it 2 stars (yes, that my logic) to keep a standar rating with all the novellas, and also because the 1 star rating i like to save it for books that are actually really bad such as in content and story and even if i disliked this book, it was not that awful or boring, so there you go.
“The only thing I have room for in this head of mine right now is the firm belief that fate absolutely exists. Fate…soul mates…time travel…you name it. It all exists. Because that’s what her kiss feels like. Existence.”

i haven't read the second part yet but i perfectly know that this was not necessary.

In terms of reviewing this novella, hell this series, I’m stumped. The mystery element is a huge part of the pull, so I don't want to spoil the fun. The concept is compelling. The memory loss and the suspense surrounding Silas and Charlie's current circumstances certainly kept me invested. I wanted to figure that shit out just as bad as they did. What was happening, and WHY? But the answers were always just out of reach.

description

Now that I’ve reached the conclusion, I can see how some readers might be disappointed, high expectations and all (especially with those cliffs). But for me, without spoiling anything, I'll say that I felt ‘reveal’ was fitting and I was left satisfied with the ending. It was sweet. I enjoyed the characters, especially Silas. Overall, it was a quick, entertaining little ya series.

3 “What the hell?” Stars.

This is the much awaited third and final book of the Never Never trilogy, where we finally get to know what happened with Silas and Charlie to make them forget everything.
And let me tell you my no spoilers version of this book: IT MADE NO SENSE AT ALL.

First I was like this:

Then I was like this:

In the end I was more or less like this:

description

I’m giving it three stars for Silas, for some really sweet moments and for how they ended. The rest? The rest, I’m sad to say, was disappointing BS.
After having waited one year for a trilogy that was supposed to be one book, I was expecting more, MUCH more for its ending. I was expecting mind-f*ckness, confusion, drama and an explosive HEA. What a got was a stupid excuse involving and a ridiculous confusing epilogue.
Silas was worth the price of the book and made me like (to a certain extent) the story, but the rest? Utter ridiculousness.

Dear Colleen and Tarryn,

I am disappointed with this book. I waited a year for this part to come out and all the excitement dissipated about 50% into reading when I realized that it was starting to spout bullshit. There was no deep mystery and no "OMG I DID NOT SEE THAT COMING THAT'S FCKN GOOD *mindblown*". Part 3 can be simply called CLICHE. The idea was so good in the beginning. Part 2 left me in doubt because there was almost zero progress. And then I had to read this crapload waste of money they called Part 3.

I felt cheated most of all. The big mystery wasn't that big. Whatever conflict they had with their families is pretty much swept under the rug like, "So we hated you in the last two parts but we decided you're alright for this last one". All the theories on kidnapping, criminal act, conspiracies, big mastermind plot drowned in the maddeningly simple yet (people strangely find it) cute-I say this with contempt-explanation on destiny and soulmates.

What a cop out.

The ending was meh. I don't think I'll be looking at these books with fondness. But it is what it is.

Of course it's not the best story out there or the most original but sometimes as a reader, you just gotta stop complaining, stop thinking too much, and just enjoy the ride. As reviewers, I think we just get so caught up in critiquing books that sometimes we criticize the crap and the fun out of a story without even realizing it. And I think that the Never Never novellas is one of those many cases.

I doubt this story was meant to be taken as seriously as some readers have taken it. Honestly, these novellas confused the crap out of me. And normally, that's something I'd probably complain about as well but you know what... I'm going to put that aside and won't even make a big deal out of it. You know why? Because Never Never is just one of those stories that confuses the heck out of you but you take it, keep going and enjoy it anyways. Because if you nitpick your way through every little detail, of course you're going to eventually dig yourself deep enough to discover all the flaws and plot holes. I believe that goes for any story, especially novellas.

That being said...

The ending to the last piece of the puzzle was debatable and I found myself a little let down. I expected... More. Actually, more specifically, I wish they went the cursed, creepy tarot card lady route lol. But I guess we can't have everything. xD I keep forgetting that Never Never is just a novella and I hate when things start moving so fast! I was just a little disappointed that we all planned out these creative scenarios and explanations in our heads but in the end, we were left with... Just that. Such a simple explanation for a complex situation that Colleen and Tarryn built up. As a whole, I loved the novellas. But I wished our authors came up with a better, much bizarre idea behind the not-so-mystery amnesia that our main characters went through.

I felt as though Colleen and Tarryn weaved together such a unique plot that even they couldn't even come up with an explanation up to par with the situation that they presented to us in the beginning.

They should have called this novella series Freaky Friday: Amnesia Edition

Fate is the magnetic pull of our souls toward the people, places, and things we belong with.

I blew through this super fast as it is only about 100 pages.

The first half of this book had me totally hooked, it seemed we were getting closer to finding out why this is happening to Silas and Charlie. I had so many things running through my head.. Voodoo, magic, curses, but what we find out was sort of whomp, whomp. Every revelation sort of fell a little flat for me. Everything wasn't as big as I kept thinking it was going to be.

Trust your gut. Not your heart, because it’s a people pleaser, and not your brain, because it relies too heavily on logic.

After I got past that and focused on the love story, it wasn't a complete bust. Charlie and Silas' relationship is so sweet and I just love everything about them. They had to fall apart to come back together.

I could spend every day getting to know you all over again, Charlie, and I don’t think I’d get sick of it.

I somehow have more feelings for this girl than will fit inside of me.

Initial reaction: Long story short: this series was a waste of time and money and I hope I can get a refund from Amazon - at least for this last part. It wasn't worth the investment of the serial if it was just going to end up like that - lots of plot holes, dropped story threads, and a very disappointing and childish resolution.

Full review:

*sighs* Okay, I'll level with you guys, this book was not good. Not good at all. And mostly I say that because when you have a serial novel that makes the reader certain promises in its previous installments and completely drops them by the wayside in the final part of the story, there's issues to be had with that.

I feel like this book doesn't even fit classification in the mystery/suspense category. It's definitely romance, but a very poorly done one at that. Overblown reactions, childish antics, unlikable characters without development - I mean, I could go on about the number of problems "Never, Never" has with this last installment because it never really gives you expansions or explanations of what happened with Silas and Charlie with all the WTF? things that happened in the previous installments. It's like those things never happened and it gets shrugged off just for the sake of furthering Silas and Charlie's pre-destined romance, which is hammered and forced upon the reader in so many turns.

I've said this before when talking about some of the stories that I've read from Colleen Hoover before: it feels fake. I sincerely do not like stories that try to force feed character chemistries to me in the scheme of the work I'm reading. Plus, I definitely DO NOT like stories that do a poor job with continuity and implied story promises that end up being shortchanged or lead to nothing of what was expounded upon in the work. This whole time - we're wondering why Silas and Charlie have these weird spells of amnesia, what really happened with Charlie's father being involved in criminal activities and Silas's family hating her family's guts, alongside why Charlie and Silas had the falling out that they did. Some of those questions were answered with a degree of mention, but they're not really expanded upon. Others had very out of the blue, wayward answers that didn't fit with the overarching narrative at all - and that's the reason why I'm pissed.

Biggest reason: MAJOR SPOILER (but not really, unless you want to be fairly pissed with the build up this series had):

Yes, I'm serious. All that build up for freaking nothing but something that was dashed off in a few statements for expansion. As if you can pull a rabbit out of a hat and say "Ta-da! Like my bag of tricks?" For goodness sake, man. This isn't a fantasy or meta-romance series, at least I wasn't lead to believe that from the beginning. If the story had foreshadowing to kind of shape that explanation more and it hadn't set out all sorts of clues to suggest other explanations, maybe I would've bought it. But to me? To me that was a cop-out explanation and lazy writing. It's like they didn't know how they wanted to end it and just wanted to scribble the story off and be done with it. Plus you've got CoHo's trademark problematic possessive "romantic" leanings (I don't know how telling someone if they look at another girl they'll either gouge your eyes or murder the girl and blame it on you is in any way romantic or funny. It's not even funny in the terms of dark or ironic humor) and engaging in problematic behaviors (no: I don't buy the "They're young and they're in LOVE" expansion for explaining some of the things Silas and Charlie did in here. For me, it was time taken away from the central questions that were surrounding this series. I mentioned in previous reviews that this series had a serious issue with maintaining focus on the story elements - this book took far too many tangents and wasted narrative space with things that weren't pertinent to answering those questions.)

That doesn't deserve my time or my money and I'm happy to say I got a refund from Amazon for this part. I was so horribly disgusted and upset for the poor quality of what it gave me.
Now whether I pick up another work from these authors is something I can't say for sure right now. I'm just too terribly disappointed to say much else about it. I do know the only reason I'm not giving this 0 stars is because it had a darned good theme and premise to it, but to end like that - I don't know what to say. I sincerely don't.

Overall score: 1/5 stars.

Are you familiar with how thin the walls are in dorm rooms? If you are, take that and multiply it by a thousand and you’ll have my scenario. If you aren’t, I’ll give you some examples: I can’t fall asleep until no one in my hall is talking. I unwantedly hear my next-door neighbors’ conversations word for word. If someone upstairs is playing music I can feel the bassline. I try to be as quiet as I can since I know if I make a noise louder than a pin dropping it could wake the goddamn dead.

But even though I was reading this at 1 a.m. on a Wednesday (WELL after quiet hours!) I couldn’t stop myself from scoffing. And groaning. And generally expressing my distaste. Loudly. I actually said “Oh, GOD” at the very last line of the book. To myself. In an empty room.

I dare you to read a teenage boy theorizing that a Grand Mystery--you know, one that spawned three novellas?--was caused by him and his girlfriend’s breakup going against ~destiny~ and not want to scream into the fucking abyss. I’m sorry for the language, but how did that even get published?! How is that in print?! A 3.47 average rating is pretty low for Goodreads, but I’m honestly surprised it’s not even less. Like one star, for example. Just every single reader giving this book one star. What a waste of time. I HAVE PAPERS TO WRITE, COLLEEN AND TARRYN!

I think I gave myself frown lines reading this.

It’s not super well-written, and it’s hard to tell whether that’s because the writing itself isn’t good or the characters are garbage or a mix of the two. Example: “‘I’m seventeen years old. I think I have the right to change.’ This guy. I want to roll my eyes at him, but first I need him to give me more answers.”

I never felt intrigued by the mystery. Maybe that’s my fault for launching abruptly into this having entirely forgotten the other novellas. Silas and Charlie, individually and together, made me want to GAG. But the most unforgivable aspect of this for me was just that it’s dumb.

Dumb mistakes, like saying they’re at a gas station an hour away from their destination on one page, then that they have two more hours till they get there on the next. Dumb reasoning, like seeing that two characters have small eyes and are kinda pale and assuming that one is the other’s father with no other evidence. Dumb perspective, since Charlie referred to herself more in the third person than first. Just dumb choices. Why would people take pictures of Silas because he sat in a puddle? WHY?!

Bottom line: I politely request to punch each and every one of these characters in the face, and then have a Silas ’n’ Charlie style memory loss so I never have to remember any of this book.

★★★ 3 Stars ★★★

Honestly, I found it all a bit underwhelming, I expected more oompf I guess, but what I got was a very sweet and nice cutesy ending.

I would rate the series as a whole ★★★★ 4 Stars ★★★★ and if this had been a standalone, then I think I would have enjoyed it just that little bit more as I think the lack of momentum killed it for me, I am not a big fan of series/trilogies/waiting.

This is definitely classed as a YA story, a bit fantastical and at times an exciting read with some nice cute moments.

February 2, 2016
Expectations...we all have them. Anywhere from wanting the couple to have their HEA to having their story end in that spectacular way. Well, one of two ain't bad!

Silas and Charlie have been losing their memory every forty-eight hours so they've been writing things down and leaving themselves notes everywhere trying to move forward each time. Luckily, they are making progress...some more than others.

They also went with the flow a little better this time and tried to get to the root of the problem by visiting Charlie's Dad. Some answers there but not enough. It doesn't matter though because Silas thinks he has things figured out.

description

And it was sweet...really sweet in that unicorn and rainbows sort of way. Meaning....definitely NOT a Tarryn Fisher ending. (But then again, I could be totally wrong!)

But that epilogue? That had Tarryn Fisher written allll over it! WTH??

Overall, I really enjoyed the story. I think it would have read better as one story than broken up into novellas although I understand why they had to release it that way (publishing contracts and all that). However, since they are all released, I would recommend reading them one after the other.

Just like most readers, I am disappointed.

I didn't like the explanation at all. Why create so much mystery to not answer any questions?

This part focuses too much on the romance. I shipped them, but they were too fluffy and cutesy and that's not something I enjoy reading. I even thought they were childish at some points.

I do have to admit that I started reading this with a negative mindset, because of the bad reviews. I know I was going to be disappointed, but I tried to keep an open mind at first. But everything was too convenient, and not enough questions were answered.

But the main thing I disliked about the series? It wasn't proofread enough. For instance when Silas says: "just like in the hotel this morning.". You weren't in the hotel, you were in his room. I can give you many other examples and I can't believe the authors didn't notice these irregularities!

4 It's about LOVE STARS

"We migth lose our memories again, but we're still the same on the inside. Somewhere deep down, we want to do good. Be good. Deep down we love each other."

Carmine

Excelente final.

OK ... WELL ...

description

That was fast, is that these books are short ,so I will not complain about that, ie, I knew it would be that way ...

But I lack something and I don't know what . Maybe it was a somewhat forced end as if to end the trilogy quickly.

In fact I would have liked to know more, enjoy more scenes about Silas and Charlie.

I think they're a beautiful couple,I love the love scenes between them, very sweet, they turn to love despite the mistakes they made in the past, regardless of the type of people who were, they feel that they want to change . I emphasize it

I was convinced it I was going to love it and sadly it has not happened, was fine really I think that writing these great writers continues to be very good and also love with the heart CoHo so I can not no love her writing.

Still I lacked the mystery that characterized the earlier books, which made that I liked them so much.

I did not expect the revelation about Charlie's father, is one of the points that I really liked it :)

So do not be lying if I said I'm a little disappointed, but I keep the memory of Silas, has been my favorite character and the lovely form of writing these little books have given us :)
