A treacherous new world awaits

Sisterwitches Isadora and Sanna Spence aren’t sitting back anymore. In fact, they’re both tangled in separate new worlds—ones they didn’t anticipate.

Despite the Dragonmasters home burning to ash, Sanna is certain of one thing—she will not be a tyrant, even though managing a brood of frightened dragons falls on her reluctant shoulders. When a devastating tragedy strikes the Dragonmaster families, Sanna is forced to face a world she never knew existed.

Isadora, on the other hand, is too busy with her new life to worry about her old one. In the midst of training with her perpetually annoyed mentor, Maximillion, Isadora is unexpectedly taken away from home and thrust into a dangerous game. Her life is now in the hands of her most terrifying enemy: Cecelia Bianchi.

Both sisters are far from home and over their heads. Can they marshal their courage to save those they care about? Or will their expanding horizons prove to be their biggest danger yet?

Join the beloved sisters from FLAME in a new tale about growing up, moving on, and finding the courage within.

My world revolves around my husband (who is a major hottie), my precious kids, my Vizsla’s who act like children, and the mountains.

I wear hiking boots instead of heels when I need to feel powerful, and on a bad day, I love a weightlifting workout. Actually, I love it on a good day.

I don’t eat bread because my thyroid doesn’t like it, although there are days I miss it. Especially ciabatta. Sweet potatoes are kind of my thing. Cookies too.

I write because I never stopped.

What an interesting and fantastical story by Katie Cross. This book picks right off after the events of Flame continuing the story of the 2 powerful sisters, Isadora and Sanna. Get lost in this fantastical world of magic, dragons and gods that have plans of their own.

I loved watching both sisters find themselves and learn their capabilities and powers, to see their full potential and rise to the occasion. I love how both of them are strong willed and willing to fight for what they think is right no matter what that means for them. Neither of these sisters realise what they are capable of, and through this story they grow and change into the people they always were. So there’s definitely beauty in that.

The characters are ones you can easily fall in love with and your love of them just grows in this book. My favourites still remain the same from the first book lol. Love watching Luteis and Sanna together and their bond, it’s something quite special and amusing at Times. And also love Maximillion and Isadora. Their relationship is very interesting and I love watching their firey, stubborn characters together. They are seriously perfect for one another. Maximillion I think you may have found the one person that won’t just do whatever you say. Better watch out for that Isadora lol.

I loved how the story grew within this book and watching as the story expanded and unravelled, showing new and deeper twists. I especially loved the intensity that built up towards the end. Because even though I really did enjoy this story and their characters at times I did find myself not 100% immersed within the story which I missed; it wasn’t til at least I was halfway through the book that my attention clicked in a bit more. I’m not sure why but at times it just couldn’t hold my attention. This could though have a huge lot to do with the fact my chronic illness has been at its worse and reading has been very hard. So it could just be me.

I think a lot of young adult readers that love stories of dragons and magic would really enjoy this series. I’m curious where the 2 sisters story will go next and explore more of their newfound power/abilities.

Anhwho I think that covers everything soo...

Happy Reading My Nerdy Friends 🤓

I like how much the sisters have grown and learned, expanding their powers and travelling to new places. I felt like the gloom of their dire situations dragged on a bit, but the epic battles at the end were definitely worth the wait. It would be nice to have more explanation as to what's going on around them and how each of their powers work, but we're gliding in the dark along with them, I suppose. They just know so little about the world, magic, history, etc. from their sheltered upbringing that it is very frustrating at times for the reader to not understand what's happening. I hope we get more explanations soon now that they've come into their own and have joined the wider world. Again, I wish there had been more interactions between Sanna and Isadora - this being a book series about sister witches with monumental destinies and all - but they were doing their own things for most of the book. Please oh please have more scenes together in the last book!

Maturity rating: high school and up. Not much to speak of with romance, swearing, or drugs, but violence is pervasive. Lots of dragon blood, injuries, loss, torture, threat of war, and imminent doom. Not too graphic, but it can get a bit heavy.

Deep magic and wild dragons were just the beginning

Flame introduced us to twin sisters, Isadora and Sanna, who both have a magical connection to the world of Antebellum running through their veins, though it manifests in vastly different ways. With their world turned upside down after the events of Flame, events drive them toward their respective destinies, but the journeys are anything but easy. From sweltering deserts to living forests and magical islands, the world of Antebellum comes to life in the vivid strokes of Katie Cross’ skilled pen.

Sanna and her bonded dragon, Luteis (who is simply wonderful), fight to save the forest dragons and the tattered remains of the dragon servants from annihilation while rediscovering the power of dragonmaster magic thought lost.

Isadora, meanwhile, gets thrown into a deadly battle between Watchers and Defenders, and the lives of more than one Watcher depend on her ability to master the enigmatic magic of the paths.
The personal growth both sisters undergo in Flight is both touching and heartwarming. Nothing is easy, nothing is how they wanted it, and there’s no one to show them the way forward. But when it matters most, they each step up to not merely fulfill the roles asked of them, but to proudly own their power.

The Dragonmaster series takes you to a time where dragons roam the earth, witches are being percecuted and God's and Goddesses are still playing in the affairs of mortals.

Isadora is caught up in a rescue mission gone horribly wrong. Trying to save everyone she humanly can, keeping up with her lessons, blend in and stay alive as well as stay in touch with her family back at home is trying as it is but when one of their rescues goes wrong, everything in her life is altered forever.

Sanna, Isadora's sister, is struggling back at home with their family and the rest of the village. They are on the verge of starvation, despair and being divided from distrust and lack of leadership. When war comes, Sanna has to figure out how to keep all of them and their dragons alive by working together or to fail and all perish by annihilation.

This story is incredible! The author has a way of writing that makes you think you are there in the story with the characters. The characters become well known friends so you'll find yourself cheering, coaxing and crying along side them in their story.

If you haven't already, pick up the first two books in the series: Flame and The Chronicles of the Dragonmasters. Both are brilliantly written and will have you on the edge of your seat wanting more!

I often feel like the second book of a trilogy is the hardest to get right because it’s all build to the final climax, and they can easily turn into filler that drags on the path to finishing the larger storyline.

That was most certainly not the case with Flight. The book started with intensity and refused to let up until the very end. I loved the action, the fantasy elements, and relationships new and old.

But it wasn’t just a strong plot that kept drawing me in. The characters had immense growth as well. I felt like I got to know Isadora and Sanna on a deeper level than in the previous book and really loved the deep questions they asked in this book. Isadora’s journey is all about asking why she has the power she does and really trying to understand that as she faces incredible danger rescuing a friend. And Sanna works through how to be the leader her family, friends, and dragons need her to be without becoming a tyrant as their former leader had been. Even though these questions are incredibly specific to this world, they felt very relevant to me as well.

These two characters are very close to my heart, especially after reading this book. I can’t wait to see how the story ends!

Continuing the Dragonmaster trilogy in fine form, this book was every bit as good as the first. Because I'm going to complain a bit in a minute (I only do it because I care!) I want to stress how much I love these books. The pacing is incredible, I found it hard to put down, and I love the stories of each sister equally. I like their different takes on magic, and the world building is fantastic.

I'm going to leave out minor editing issues and only bring up the real problem: Maximillion. You've met him before. He is rude and condescending - but also he's handsome and has a painful and mysterious past! Therefore his inevitable sudden attentions are welcomed even if he treats you like a child, or worse, a misbehaving pet. Before this series my most recent encounter with Maximillion was in Sarah J Maas' Throne of Glass series where he was calling himself Rowan. Or was it Four, in Divergent?

Negging is alive and well in Young Adult fantasy unfortunately. There are other, better dudes in the Dragonmaster world, so it's not all snotty brats with superiority complexes and the girls that (for some reason) love them, but I'm just so tired of that dynamic that I couldn't let it go.

Otherwise excellent and I'm starting on book 3 ASAP.

Action. Turmoil. Power. Magic. Dragons. Katie Cross weaves all of these elements, and more, into “Flight,” the second book in the Dragonmaster Trilogy. Katie’s skillful storytelling takes us down converging paths of power struggles, treachery and self discovery. Who will step up and lead the Central Network dragons to victory and survival? Will imprisoned witches be saved or succumb to the evil machinations of the ruler over Carcere prison? How will sisters Sanna and Isadora cope with and utilize their burgeoning powers? Transport yourself into the Network and soar with the dragons and witches in “Flight” to discover the outcomes.

Without any hesitation, I recommend “Flight” and Book One in the trilogy, “Flame,” for readers of any age who love a great fantasy tale. Katie Cross’ books are well written and keep the reader fully engaged and living in another world. I also recommend you read The Network Series in which Katie relays tales that parallel and involve characters from the Dragonmaster Trilogy. You’ll be glad you lost yourself in Letum Woods, and beyond.

I read an advanced readers copy of “Flight” and received no compensation for writing an honest review.

I think this is my favorite book so far! The way Katie Cross describes the characters and their surroundings is so vivid. I felt a connection with them. I felt like I was there next to them. There are so many surprises in the series. I was not expecting even close to what happened. I love the fact that there is a backstory behind current situations. This helps to really get the big picture for each person or dragon. Some of the coolest things about these books are the connection the dragons and their witches have, the way they communicate, the magic that is used by those who accept it, the way people learn more about their reason why they are who they are and what their purpose in life is. This book will hook you in and won’t let go. When I got to the last page I wanted to read the next book immediately. Unfortunately we have to wait for it to come out! I hope everyone reads these books and becomes submerged in the wonder that is the story. Don’t ,it’s these books!

Don't know what to say. Make sure you have tissues and lots of chocolate nearby! Go potty first and make sure you have plenty of snacks, this is going to be a long and perilous journey!

I could not put this down, even to care for my tiny humans! The second half really flares like a secundem! I could not only see the images so vividly, but I feel the power surging through the characters....the background music as it crescendos....the transition from one part of the story to the next (which means this will be one neck of a movie!!!)!

There were so many warning signs for one character that I thought I was going to lose my mind! The explanation was legit but also felt like a let down. I was over thinking things....again.

Didn't think a sequel could be better the the first, but it is. I am now on to the third installment. But first, an emotional break as I gather the pieces of sanity and heart and try to sort them out.

Katie Cross has done it again. This volume of the Dragonmaster Trilogy (Book 2, not 3 -- the second book is a prequel) continues to ramp up the adventure and the suspense as we follow the stories of the dragons and those who care for them and work with them. The characters are strong and well developed, the world in which they live is wonderfully crafted, and the plot continues to build toward what will no doubt be cataclysmic events in the final volume. These may be listed as YA fantasy, but they are definitely not for children! No sex, no profanity (for those who care about those things) but the behaviors and motivations are all grown up.

I started to read Ms Cross with her Antebellum series and became a fan. With the Dragonmaster books she has moved from strength to strength. I highly recommend all of her books and am anxiously waiting for the third book.

Another GREAT adventure! And, DRAGONS!

Sanna & Isadora may be twins but they couldn't be more different in every way! Sanna stays in her beloved Letum Woods but does everything she can to avoid taking on the mantle of High Dragonmaster while Isadora finds herself on her own adventure far from home.

We have 2 young women who have to find their own strength to handle what life is throwing at them. How will they get past their own insecurities to do what's needed & what's right? Will they succeed? And that cliffhanger... and, DRAGONS!

I can't wait to see how Sanna & Isadora will come back together. They both have such important rolls to fulfill & the future of Antebellum may rest on their young shoulders. I love that Katie gives us young ladies that we're can relate to & root for! I can't wait for Freedom!

Katie is a mastermind! This book takes you so much deeper into the world of the Dragonmasters and forest dragons and into the world of the Watchers! So much going on for both Sanna and Isadora and I cannot wait to see what comes next for them. I can't wait to see how they develop and grow to become the 2 sassy women that we know from The Network series. The bond between Luteis and Sanna is just wonderful. Isadora's magic is intense and I love how she is gaining more and more understanding of it. My heart may be a little broken but I am also so ready for the next book. I need to keep this story going!

OMG! Katie Cross has gifted us with a fantastic ride in part two of this trilogy. Honestly, I hadn’t read part one....for shame....yet as a stand-alone FLIGHT spectacularly delivers! I was never lost or felt I was missing parts of the story nor do I feel cheated with spoilers from earlier work. I enjoyed FLIGHT so much I went back and bought the first book immediately after finishing this one!
Believable characters, fully fleshed with quirks and angst, take us places rich in description. I can see the forest, smell the ocean and feel the wind in my hair.
Thank You, Katie Cross, for delivering a feel-good ride we actually want to go on! Warrior women rule!

OMG-this is a long book but I listened to the audiobook. Almost each chapter is of the opposite—Isadora or Sanna. They were each on a different path—opposing their magic—going thru horrible times as young teens to take on so much. If you read the first set of book about Mable school this trilogy gives a lotof information about the two watchers. I have one more to read as this is book 2 and I can’t believe it ended leaving me craving to start the next one immediately. KTIE CROSS—how on earth do you come up with these stories—thank yoj so much. I highly recommend The Network series first and then the Dragonmaster Trilogy.

What had started out as an interesting series and world I wanted to explore quickly turned into a mouthful of sand in the second book. There was a lot going on, no explanations, and no love built up for any of the characters. I was appalled at the nosedive this series took. Towards the very end the pace seemed to pick up, just enough where I figured I’d trudge on to the third book and finish the series. But you could practically skip this book and not be missing much at all between the first and the third books.

I have to say this was my least favorite of Katie's books so far and I have read many. This was heavy and dark and I felt I was slogging through a swamp for the first 2/3 of the book but it picked up in the end and I enjoyed it. Perhaps the reality of having slogged through the pandemic swamp of the last three years left me ill-prepared for the misery this book had to offer its characters. Still, I am a big Katie Cross fan and look forward to diving into the next book.

Sanna needs to face a new challenge, fighting against new dragons, she knew nothing about. For that she will face the truth, she must trust Deasylva and become the High Dragonmaster. Meanwhile, Isadora must infiltrate La Torra, where they suspect Lucey is been kept. She will face Cecelia and will acknowledge her true self, she is a powerful witch. Looking forward to finish the series.

Katie never fails to deliver an exciting story. Sanna and Isadora are growing to become a force of nature, each in their own right. Sanna's dragons and Isadora's magic have been portrayed by Katie that is unique and interesting. I'm both looking forward to and dreading the next book, knowing its the last of the trilogy.

Dragons, Goddesses, witches, magic....this series has it all. This is the third book in this series and the story is getting intense. The first two books were amazing too, so if you haven't read those, I highly recommend them. This story is full of heart. You'll find yourself falling in love with the characters and feeling like you're in this with them.

This series is amazing and Book 3 did not disappoint. This is a fast paced series filled with dragons and magic. The author writes so descriptively that you feel as if you are in the middle of the action as it is taking place. I became invested in these characters from the start. One again the author proves why she is a one-click buy in my world.

The main sister characters, Isadora and Sanna, follow the 'reluctant hero' phase far longer than any male hero of the hero's journey. I think these characters are more realistic because of their doubts, fears, and reluctance, which makes me cheer for them even more. Looking forward to reading book 3, Freedom.

Another mind blowing book! I binge listened to this book! The details will suck you right in! I love the story line behind the two sisters. One sister is a witch and the other is a dragon master. This is a great series for both young and old. Thank you Katie for sharing your talent with the world! I believe this series would make for a very successful blockbuster hit!
