3-3.5 stars. So I totally picked up this series after having read The Power of Hades. Luckily for me there weren't any "spoilers" in the start of that spinoff but Hedone is in it and makes mention of these trials. I quickly came right over to see what these trials were about. I think in terms of rating that I was a little all over the place with this. Mythological history and World building were a 5+ for me. This author obviously has a passion for Greek Mythology and it shows. Despite being a reinvention the author really pulls a lot from the original aspects of the tales to create her story.. even going as far as to paraphrase ancient texts prior to chapters just to almost set the mood and give you a teaser of whats to come and show how her story is different from any "original" trials a hero would need to face. What surprised me is how YA this book felt. The focus is definitely not on the chemistry between the characters and the relationships or any romance aspects but definitely on the trials themselves. That being said its obvious it would be upper YA to NA though not quite NA enough as its very fade to black so far but there is hints that it might not always be.
Another surprise is that there are so many freaking main characters. So far I'm just barely staying afloat while the author takes us through a lot of individual character's journeys. This was also surprising for me since the blurb made the focus about FMC Lissa, but in actuality she is just one of the many character's viewpoints we have seen so far. Of course I'm not sure if each of these characters are going to end up being important in some way to the trials or if the author just wants us to see multiple viewpoints throughout the trials. While this says Books 1,2 and 3.. the "books" were actually just "parts" like the acts of a play and each "book" consisted of a different trial so its split up pretty nicely but they definitely run right into each other just like chapters so I'm glad if at one time they were separated they are not any longer as they would have been really short..
All in all this was an enjoyable read with a ton of action and a lot of meddling gods that you just want to smack for the most part as they super suck.. I'm not sure where we are headed and honestly I'm not all too sure as of right now who to root for. With Hera, Athena, and Artemis and their challenges done with, Lissa and her crew find themselves neck and neck with her sperm donor and her greatest enemy. Excited to see what lies next for our crew.. but I still feel a little torn because I can't help but root for Theseus as well... wonder how long I'm going to be torn like this lol.

Lyssa enjoys her life as a smuggling captain, taking care of her crew and doing her own things. When the goddess Athena shows up on her ship and requests Lyssa compete in an ultimate competition for immortality, all of the baggage of the past comes racing forward. But Lyssa has no choice but to compete in the trials because she must stop the ultimate evil from winning and spreading his hatred and violence for ever.
This is hands down the most interesting version of the Greek mythology that I have ever encountered. What you thought you knew about the Greek Gods and Hercules is completely thrown away, and instead something completely new replaced it and boy did I enjoy this version! The world building took bits and pieces of the classic mythology and then created a whole other place with new kinds of magic, relationships and even locations while weaving those tid-bits in. There was also flying ships which had kind of a steampunk feel to them, and we all know my feelings about anything steampunk! I think there was also a timeless quality to the story as well, it could be ancient Greece, or it could be modern day, it works either way.
The story is predominantly narrated by Lyssa, so let's just call her the main character. Lyssa has tried to escape her past, running away until she was able to create her own future as a captain, as well as staying far, far away from the destruction her father Hercules causes. I will admit it was crazy to see this version of Hercules, instead of the hero we all know he was a monstrous murderer who wanted nothing but glory. I appreciated Lyssa and her even personality, how mellow she tried to stay even in the face of some scary situations and how she tried to do the right thing even when she was afraid she was not enough.
The book was also occasionally narrated by random side characters for a different perspective, such as Eryx the earnest half giant who is on another crew competing for the immortality spot; Evadne the young and beautiful crew member to Hercules who would do anything for him, even if that means she is a perpetual target for his hostility; as well as Hercules the terrible himself. It was interesting seeing some of the book told from the villain's point of view, there was zero redemption to be had with him, he legit was pure evil.
This book was actually three books in one, more like three novellas that picked up right where the last left off, each a different leg of the overall adventure of the story. I can't wait to see what Lyssa and her crew will encounter next.

This is an adventurous spin on the Greek gods with a heroine to root for the entire way through.
Lyssa is the daughter of Hercules. Unfortunately. Hercules is not the nice hero he once was but has slaughtered her mother and younger brother. Lyssa, now the captain of her own ship, sails between the realms of the 12 gods as a smuggler. When she's told that she is to compete in the Trials with three other heroes for the chance of immorality, she only agrees because Hercules is competing too. And there's no way she's going to let him win.
Greek god spins aren't always what I hope them to be, but this one surprised me with an original adventure and a heroine to love. Lyssa draws in right away with her spicy personality and strength. She's very protective of her ship and crew, and that alone makes her easy to cheer for. But she's also unique in so far that she does have special gifts (thanks to Hercules) and still, is not unbeatable. The challenges she faces with her crew in this book actually allow her to lose more than not in ways which let her personality shine.
This book contains only the first few of the twelve trials Lyssa and her crew face. Each one had a bit of familiarity to it, while take on completely new spins at the same time. The pacing stays relatively high and the outcomes do leave guessing. There is a lyrical excerpt at the beginning of each chapter, which does give hints at what the chapter will bring...which I found unnecessary but still, enjoyed reading them. There were plenty of unexpected twists and turns, and I especially enjoyed how the four different crews interacted.
The side characters are just a fun as Lyssa herself and there promises to be much more to come, not only in the way of the adventure but in relationships between the characters and character development.
I'm actually giving this one 4.5 stars but am rounding up to five. I received an ARC copy and enjoyed it more than I even expected. So, I'm leaving my honest thoughts.

Skies of Olympus is the first book in the Immortality trials series by author Eliza Raine. The Immortality trials is a unique series set up that I am really digging. This is a line from the summary "Join Lyssa as she takes on the deadly Trials alongside giants, centaurs, satyrs and gods in the first three of twelve episodes of this Greek mythology fantasy retelling." Umm, yes please! Sign me up right away! It is a young adult mythology fantasy split up into twelve trials. Each of the books in the series will feature 3 of the 12 trials. Skies of Olympus features the trials of Hera, Athena and Artemis. I love a bind up of shorter stories that are interconnected because once you get going, you just fly through the pages.
I will admit that this story had a bit of a slow and a tad confusing start for me. Here we meet Lyssa, our main character, and the daughter of a cruel Hercules. Lyssa is the captain of her own smuggling ship, where she smuggles goods between the realms of the 12 gods. I am all about a good quest or trials book and that is exactly what Eliza Raine delivers. I loved the first three trials and I am already hungry for more. If you are like me and you are kind of confused at the start of the story, just stick with it. After a little while, everything clicks and the story takes off from there.
One of my favorite things about stories centered around Greek mythology are all of the interesting characters, which was a highlight in Skies of Olympus for me as well. Lyssa is a great main character, and I think we still have many things to learn about her. But what is even better is that throughout the trials, we get to meet new characters. The side.secondary characters are just as much fun as Lyssa. After I read the second book, I will do a character roundup for some of my favorite secondary characters.
Overall, if you are a fan of mythology books, the Immorality Trials is a series you are going to want to check out. Skies of Olympus was a good start to a series that I think will become a very addictive and fun read. I can't wait for the next three trials.

Eliza Raine has herself one hell of a story . Taking Greek mythology and turning it on its head . God's and demigod and everything else you know about the Greek legends are here . The main characters you can't help but cheer for and before you know it you become vested in them and you have to know what's going to happen next . The story twist and turns and has you wrapped up in so much so that you can't put it down . So if you like Greek mythology you will love this book , but even if you're not a fan of it don't pass up the chance to read a fantastic story . You will not be disappointed in this book at all . 😁😁😁😁

All the Gods of Olympus plus more. In this great start to this series we gets books 1-3 all in one nifty installment. The Gods are bored so they create a set of trials that one crew can win gifting them immortality. Of course they all want that so enter a fierce competition with dirty fighting, secrets,and more as they fight each other as well as the trials. The first three fly by then you but the end of the book with one doozy of a twist. Great for fans of the genre. I really liked it so I give it 4/5 stars.

Mythology twist
This is a great story with a new twist on mythology. The Greek gods are bored and come up with a new way to amuse themselves by having a competition with a prize that almost everyone wants to win. Our girl Lyssa only wants one thing from this competition, her father's head on a platter. I can't wait to see how all the trials go

Loving this series! Super easy to binge with the shorter books and the narration is fantastic. Action packed and the trials and drama between characters is so entertaining.

This book is a new take on the classic Greek myths. We get most of the usual suspects showing up,the Gods, Hercules, Theseus, and other mythical beings. But there are a few changes along the way; Hercules is not the hero we know and love. It’s been four years since he went mad and killed his family but one person got away, his daughter Lyssa. She has sworn vengeance against her father and the Gods have given her the perfect opportunity. Zeus and company are bored and have set up 12 trials to find a hero and reward them and their crew with immortality. Chosen by Athena herself Lyssa is determined to beat Hercules once and for all.
This book sees us through the first three trials. It is action packed and never a dull moment. The writing is very rich and wonderfully descriptive-I felt like I was in the middle of it!
Lyssa is a very strong and capable heroine though she has her stubborn moments. The whole cast is full bodied with great stories to go along with hem. Hercules is not the hero of the story which is a fresh idea and works brilliantly!
The start of this series is amazing and I really can’t wait to see what happens next!!!

Love this world! Didn’t think I’d get so captivated.
When starting this book I didn’t have high hopes as it was clear from the title and cover alone that you’d be signing up for an adventure with mythological creatures and the very first mythological creature they encounter was a “very strange being” (paraphrasing here). It was described as something so unusual that, well, I thought this book was not going to be as much fun as a initially thought, seeing that the very rare sight of a creature described turns out to be some sort of mermaid and although we might never see one (lol), we all know about them so it’s easy to believe they commonly exist in a world like this one. So I feared I would get a whole book of the over the top child like type of description for each mythological creature to come.
I Was Wrong!
That very strange mermaid type creature just happened to be a very strange creature amidst all the other wonderous and lovely creatures so it is clear they don’t know much about this species. I can only imagine what sort of surprises that particular creature will give in the coming books!
I am glad that I didn’t loose my curiosity for this book because I would have missed out. I was enthralled with the storyline that I got so frustrated that I’d gotten too ill to read after starting this book because this story is interesting!
It’s a tournament style story (each episode being one trial), in air-ships with Gods, children of the Gods and mythological creatures!
I love the worldbuilding, Olympus is this sort of space or world where each of the important gods has their own realm, some are in the sky, some in the water, some on land. Some realms are even forbidden for some species or most, giving a mysterious vibe to some of the realms.
The main means of transportation seems to be ships that fly rather than sail, although most of them technically sail on solar light. Great find. Really gives dimenion to this world and storyline.
One thing though; If you idealize Hercules, well, he’s a long way from the hero he once was, so do bear that in mind, if you’re gonna read these books, he’s not one of the good guys (anymore).
Main character Lyssa and her crew, I love them all, a lot of the other more side characters have some dept to them as well and that makes that you also care about those side characters.
Will definitely keep an eye out for the next installment.

When starting this book I didn’t have high hopes as it was clear from the title and cover alone that you’d be signing up for an adventure with mythological creatures and the very first mythological creature they encounter was a “very strange being” (paraphrasing here). It was described as something so unusual that, well, I thought this book was not going to be as much fun as a initially thought, seeing that the very rare sight of a creature described turns out to be some sort of mermaid and although we might never see one (lol), we all know about them so it’s easy to believe they commonly exist in a world like this one. So I feared I would get a whole book of the over the top child like type of description for each mythological creature to come.
I Was Wrong!
That very strange mermaid type creature just happened to be a very strange creature amidst all the other wonderous and lovely creatures so it is clear they don’t know much about this species. I can only imagine what sort of surprises that particular creature will give in the coming books!
I am glad that I didn’t loose my curiosity for this book because I would have missed out. I was enthralled with the storyline that I got so frustrated that I’d gotten too ill to read after starting this book because this story is interesting!

I received a digital arc in exchange for an honest review. This is simply my opinion on the book and is not influenced by any external factor.
One word – FANTASTIC! The author has created an exciting story filled with fierce competition. Greek deities, mere mortals and mythical creatures join together to spin an action-filled fantasy suitable for all ages. This is a clean read, not much in terms of romance, although we do see some things from the perspective of the demi-goddess of pleasure, however, nothing is ever described in detail. There’s also description of killing and blood, but nothing utterly gruesome.
This is not your typical fairy-tale fantasy retelling. Yes, it is a fantasy book, but the retelling is about Greek mythology. Yes, we do see the Greek gods and goddesses and even some demi-goddesses, but we see a side of them unbeknownst to the public. I myself was astonished to find Hercules as the main antagonist, that he killed his wife and one of his daughters. (this comes from me who had the image of Hercules from the Disney movie/Kingdom Hearts game in my head the entire time, and the satyr as Phil; also the hydra). This is not a strict retelling of the original movie or story, but reads from the point of view of four teams competing in twelve deadly trials to win a life of immortality.
There are twelve trials in total, one for each of the Greek gods. Each of the trials take place in the realm respective to each god/goddess. I liked how each trial was divided into a ‘book’ of sorts, and is written in a way that makes you want to continue. I also liked how there was a map at the start of each ‘book’ listing each region and the reigning deity, which helped me keep track of the trials and to anticipate what is to come.
The main protagonists were all likeable, and all the characters were well-developed. Conflicts were well-defined and the trials themselves were well-constructed. During the trials, the perspective changes constantly and clearly, so that we see things from each of the teams’ point of view.
And that ending, it really made me want to read the next one right away.
Overall, a great book, definitely one to reread in the future and am definitely looking forward to the remaining trials to come. I have my suspicion on which team will win, but we’ll see and find out ;)

I am a bit of a sucker for retellings and I have read so many good ones so far for the retellings reading challenge that I am participating in, so I was particularly looking forward to this book because I am on such a good streak with it that I knew it was set to continue.
I was not disappointed, from the start Skies Of Olympus is full of action and intrigue. I was curious about the world of Olympus and how the story would incorporate what I know of Greek Mythology (which it turns out is not very much at all). The author did a wonderful job of creating the world of Olympus with it’s different realms, I liked that they were all named after the star signs and belonged to a different God.
I loved the storyline, it was fascinating, I knew a little tiny amount of the mythology but it was really nice that the author included excerpts from the original stories so you could see where the inspiration was from. The trials were great I liked that they weren’t straightforward and that for Lyssa and her crew it wasn’t just about immortality but trying to stop someone else from getting it.
Lyssa and her crew were great, there is a good mix of mythical creatures in Olympus which makes it even more interesting, but I liked that the crew of the Alastor were kind of the underdogs and more like family than any of the other crews that were competing in the trials. As I mentioned Lyssa has a personal reason to be taking part in these trials, I’m not going to spoil it by telling you more than that, but I liked that she was kind of constantly at battle with herself about how to get to the next stage and whether she would be able to face up to it. I also liked her Rage and I’m keen to see how far she can push her powers.
Skies of Olympus is the first three books in the series and is Hera, Anthena and Artemis’s trials, all I can say is I was hooked from the start and I can’t wait to get my hands on the next books because I want to see what the trials have in store next for Lyssa and her crew.

This book takes everything you know about Hercules the hero and turns it on its head. In this book, Hercules is a villain and his daughter, Lyssa, is the one who is gearing up to take down the tyrant during the Immortality Trials.
I have to be honest ... when I picked up this book, I didn't think it would fall into the YA category, but sometimes it did. I loved the premise of this book and Lyssa, Epizon, and Erix were, hands down, my favorite characters (I wanted SO much more from Erix and 'shipped Lyssa and Epizon so hard). But there were certain instances in this book were it felt like it would fall into some of the bad YA tropes (*cough* Phyleus *cough*). Overall, though it was really enjoyable and all the trials were incredibly fun. I flew right through this audiobook.
I can see why this was compared to the Hunger Games but with mythology. It hit a little too close to that series when the heroes were conscripted into the trials. Which leads me to one of my biggest questions from the book ... why were only four heroes chosen to compete in the trials if all 12 gods were supposed to select someone to compete on their behalf? What was the point of all gods picking someone if only four were going to compete anyway? I don't get why the author chose to go that route rather than just make it clear that there would be a handful of champions competing for immortality.
I absolutely loved the narrator, Elizabeth Evans. She knocked all the characters out of the park and made the entire book incredibly enjoyable.
One note on the grammar. There were some odd grammar issues, such as “they were sat.” I don’t know if it was a case of needing another once-over by an editor, a stylistic choice by the author, or the narrator accidentally saying the wrong verbs, but it definitely needs fixed. It threw me straight out of the story every time as I pondered what I just heard.

‘Skies of Olympus’ is book one in Eliza Raine’s The Immortal Trials. This book contains trials 1 - 3.
Lyssa may be the daughter to the famous Hercules, but she wants nothing to do with him. He murdered her mother and brother in front of her and if she didn’t run she would have been killed as well. To make things worse none of the gods did anything to punish him. Four years later Lyssa is now a Captain of her own Ship the Alastor. When Athena appears on the Alastor, saying she is presenting Lyssa as her champion for the upcoming Immortal Trials, Lyssa denies the invitation. After hearing that Hercules is participating she decides that she will do whatever it take to prevent him for winning.
I have read the Hades and Ares Trials by this author and I just fell in love with the World that was created by Ms Raine. So when I realised that there was another series based in the same world I just knew I had to job on board and read it. Although the events that take place in this series are prior to the other series I never felt like I had any spoilers. The series may take place in the same world, but they are all unique and independent. Yes there may have been a few little insiders of events or people but it was still a great journey and experience reading this book.
Reading the turmoil and heartache that Lyssa has experienced thanks to her father was heart wrenching. But seeing how strong she has come out from it, was a sight.
Ms Raine is one exceptional author I have loved her rendition/retellings of the Mythological Greek Gods. Getting to read Hercules’ story as him as the evil, cruel sadistic man was definitely an eye opener. I can’t wait to see how this series goes. There is definitely potential in this series.

This was a great start to a new and unique series! Eliza manages to put her own spin on classic Greek mythology and adding in sci-fi elements that grab you from the start. The gods have become bored and tiresome, so they decide to set up a competition, the Twelve Trials, to pit demigods and mortals against one another for their own amusement. Hercules isn’t who you thought he was- he’s slaughtered his family and only Lyssa got away. As the daughter of Hercules, Lyssa, has been chosen to fight in the Twelve Trials in hopes to stop him from gaining immortality and to get revenge. Lyssa is now the captain of her own ship and crew and I love that they stand by her side and protect one another. All of the characters were well developed, interesting, and had complex personalities. I loved the world building and the descriptions that were used to help visualize the whole story. Olympus is portrayed as a galaxy with each god ruling their own realm/ planet which I found very intriguing. This book was filled with tons of action, suspense, Greek mythology, adventure, and twists.
Elizabeth did an excellent job with this narration! She portrayed every emotion and suspense filled moment perfectly with her performance. I enjoyed the different character voices she used and kept me entertained the entire time.

My first reaction upon finishing this book was “wow”. I was absorbed and captivated by the story in a way that’s unfortunately not too common. Ever since reading the Percy Jackson books, I’ve had an interest in Greek mythology, and this certainly did not disappoint.
One of the main undertones to the story was the concept of revenge. Lyssa’s whole reason for participating in the deadly trials of the Gods is to prevent her monster of a father from gaining immortality. Her anger and passion is clearly portrayed through the writing, and Lyssa is a very relatable character. Granted, hopefully most people do not have a monster of a parent. Thankfully I do not. But like everyone else, I’ve met monsters, and the hatred Lyssa feels towards her father resonates with what we all feel about the monsters we’ve encountered.
The story itself follows the basic structure of Greek mythology, however this is not the classic tale. The Gods have created these deadly trials for their hero’s to participate in for their own entertainment. This should tell you enough about the Gods.
Overall, I really enjoyed reading this book. I wholeheartedly recommend it to anyone who is fond of Greek mythology, and I look forward to reading the next installment!!

So I have started to read The Immortality Trials series and this was the first book of four. I enjoyed it very much as I like adventurous style of the Greek mythology retelling as Eliza Raine does.
The world is divided by twelve realms that are ruled by the gods. Occasionally the get bored. So they decided to organise for the mortals to win the challenges and obtain the precious gift of immortality. Less is the daughter of Hercules, and they have very complicated relationships. She hates her father for the crimes he committed against her mother and little brother, the unforgivable sins she can't forget. Lyssa wants to win the Trials, but there are other competitors who seek no less.
Book one tells about three challenges: the killing of the Nemenyan Leon in Cancer realm ruled by Hera, killing Hydra in Libra realm ruled by Athena, and killing the deer in Saggutarius realm ruled by Artemis. All the challenges are nearly impossible to complete, yet Lyssa receives some help from those she thought would never support her cause.
I liked this story and enjoyed this adventurous plot very much!

Lyssa, our heroine, is strong, determined, set on avenging her family's deaths at the hands of her father, the famous Hercules. The Gods, on the other hand, are bored. In order to amuse themselves, they set up a contest between mortals and demigods, where the prize is immortality. Athena decides to be Lyssa's patron and Lyssa is selected as one of the contestants, along with Hercules, Theseus and Antaeus. Twelve trials, one winner. Who will be the last one standing? Read on and find out!
A truly imaginative take on Greek Mythology! Eliza Raine has taken the classic myths, heros and gods and created a new, unique world, that drew me right into it. Apart from the excellent storyline, there is a variety of characters -gods, humans, paranormal creatures- that are exceptionally developed. The plot is fast-paced and full of adventures, with great twists, while the descriptions are so vivid that made me feel part of the story. I can't wait for the next installment!

I just finished reading The Skies of Olympus 1- 6, and I will admit, I was so captivated in the story, I didn't really pause to see where one book ended and another began.

The story started off with so much going on that I was swiftly overwhelmed and had to stop, go back, and reread the entire first chapter to make sure I knew what was happening. Characters, creatures, and story line are so vivid, that you need to take your time in the beginning.
Take everything you have learned about the Greek gods, and then shake up some of your knowledge of the heroes and demi-gods. Captain Lyssa is a wild young woman, commanding a small but fierce crew of smugglers. Her bold actions and family ties draw her into a race for immortality, 12 trials from the gods, to see what humans, giants, and heroes are made of. Not everyone plays by the rules, especially not the gods creating them.

What a refreshing and amazing piece of work this whole series is. I quickly became an instant fan of Eliza Raine she has quenched my need for proper pantheon and Gods based writing in a long time. I am mortified by Disney's adaptation of Hercules and the fact that most average opinion seems to trend that way. She twisted his trials with a whole competition amongst many. The protagonist being his "daughter" with her only goal in mind to prevent the depraved demi-god he is from becoming Immortal. She pays homage to the honest make-up of what Olympus would be and does a masterful job using her talent of submerging you in that world.
I finished the whole series in just over a day so I was glad to have stumbled on it after the completion of the whole series.

Honestly, this is the type of story you will wish you didn't have to stop until the end, so if you can, plan to binge read/listen.
The moto of this adventure is as random as the God's moods. They wish to have one more immortal among them, so each God will gather a team of his hero children to enter the competition. And because this has a dark version of Hercules, this too will have 12 "jobs", one for each book.
This bookset has the first 3, the lion and a race included. The fun part is having the goddess of love meddling with our heros.
The narration is very good, the only thing that I didn't like is that I keep failing to really understand if the book is talking about a vessel or a ship as in a flying boat or a spaceship. I think is the former, but I can't be sure... So I wished the hole ambience were a bit more cleverly described...

The story has been fantastic so far. It's an epic mythology/fantasy and so far there hasn't really been any sort of romance.
I'm excited to see what happens in the next book. So far three trials have taken place and each seems to be more deadly than the last.

I totally loved reading/listening to this book. It was so good. I finished all three books in one day! They were so full of action, it never stopped. I love how the author puts three books in one. I wish more authors who wrote books on the shorter side did this. It makes life so much easier. The only thing that disappointed me about this series is that I did not have the next book in my library! (lol). The narrator also did an awesome job! She really brought so much life to the story and the voices for different characters were so perfect! I loved this and I totally want more!

Slow start
It took me awhile to get into this book. I felt like there wasn't enough depth to the characters to really get to know them and empathize with them. Lyssa was a hard character to relate to because although you know she hates Hercules, it takes awhile before you find out why. That, matched with her unnecessary temper and her constantly snapping and judging people just made it hard to like her. By the end of the book, once we're neck deep in the trials, it's better. There's action and some growth and you can see how lyssa can really start to grow as a character. I'll be reading the next in the series and I'm hoping it's all better from here!

Whats not to love about this series?! Great twist on Greek mythology! The characters are so well written and each with specific personalities. It will be hard not to think of these Greek legends as they are written in this series. The story its self is so well written and fast paced that you have to keep reading so you can see what is next. The Trials are based on Herculean legend and are seamlessly worked into an amazing adventure.

Great read
I really enjoyed this book and could not stop once I started. Its a different spin on the whole Greek gods and Hercules. In this one he's not the hero and has a daughter Lyssa who is the main character. She gets a chance to compete in the trials for immortality but really just wants to make sure her dad doesn't win and to avenge her family because of him. It was just so addicting and one I really could not get enough of and can not wait to read the next books and trials!

This is an interesting and fun series of books. I really enjoy stories with Greek Mythology and I liked the twists the author put on some of the characters in this series.
The books focus on Hercules, his daughter Captain Lyssa and the rivalry between them. The two are in a competition to gain immortality and each book follows them through the trials they have to complete.
Their tale is filled with lots of action, suspense and surprises. Book three ends with a bit of a cliffhanger and now I can’t wait to find out what book four has in store for Captain Lyssa and her crew.

pretty cool!
It had a great start to the story. Very official and serious and cool but easy to read. I didn’t feel like devouring it but short bursts of being impressed got me through. I think it was a cool take on Hercules being bad and paying homage to some of the more realistic versions of the Demi-god.
It was all vague enough to know everyone without being terribly overwhelmed and close enough to have an idea of where everyone’s personalities are gonna end up.
I liked Lyssa. I enjoy her.

It started out promising, but it's a bit too heavy on the unlikeable characters. There are too many perspectives to really connect with any of them. Lyssa wants to stop Hercules from winning, but she doesn't really want to win herself, not badly, not like some of the others. There aren't really any burgeoning relationships to get invested in. It's just.. eh. There are quite a few errors too for something that isn't an ARC. Still, I downloaded the set, and I don't have anything else I'm chomping at the bit to read, so next one it is.
