This is actually a collection of short stories, showing the extremes of emotion and what conflicts these can cause. There are a good few books with dogs as one of their main characters and a few of those are really powerful tales. Suspense and expectations are placed in a thriller mode and you have to see what each main character will do, whether they will follow the rules expected of them by society or choose their own path. It is a collection of stories seeking justice, by any means necessary. The triumph of good over evil.

A fantastic collection of exciting short stories, each with a twist you won’t see coming. Full of characters you will be rooting for and wanting to succeed in their battle for justice. Full of thrills and excitement. What else can I say – you need to pick up this book to enjoy each of the short stories for yourself. An amazing masterpiece of storytelling! 19 stories to whet your appetite for suspense and a thrill. A brother searching for his younger brother, who disappeared on his way home, was one of the first to hit me with emotion.

I would advise anyone who likes to enjoy a good story, no matter how short or how long, to grab this book with both hands. It is easy to read just a couple of stories at a time, or read right through the whole book in one, depending on how much time you have to set aside for reading. You will love the range of emotions it brings up as you read and all the surprises thrown up. Nothing is quite what you might have expected. A great read and I could have read even more! I received an ARC copy of this book from the author but have also bought it, is was so good. I have freely given my own opinion of the book above.

I was sent a copy of this book in exchange for my honest review. I was not financially compensated, and all opinions are 100 percent mine.

First of all, this is a book of short stories all written by the same author. That doesn't typically happen. I am used to reading compiled anthologies of various authors, so this was a nice change. And the theme of the stories was carried out fairly well, in my opinion. I found all of these intriguing in their own rights and quite engrossing. I found myself losing track of the time as I devoured these stories.

For those who are concerned about content, there is some strong language included in these stories at various times. The violence aspect isn't too bad. Nothing terribly graphic is described; it's more implied. I didn't find myself overly concerned about the language for the most part, but it is there. Definitely an adult book or at least older teenage book, for sure.

This is the first time I have read anything by this author, and almost without exception, these stories were intriguing. It does take a certain knack to write a complete story that encompasses only a few pages. At times, the reader was left hanging at the end of the story. There were other times that if the reader did not completely read every detail, the reader may be very confused at the end. Twists and turns happened quite regularly. I believe some of these stories could make exceptional novels and series, and I found myself wanting more from a few of them. Notwithstanding, this is a simple read that is just the kind of book to curl up with on a summer evening. (You might not want to read some of these late at night as they are a bit unsettling!)

A collection of 19 suspenseful stories that will have you on the edge of your seat...

Best-selling author Leslie Wolfe weaves a first-class collection of 19 suspense stories with intriguing twists and turns that will easily captivate the reader from the first page to the last. The author paints a series of engaging and gripping stories in a very vivid and convincing way. In addition, the characters are drawn with great credibility and integrity.

I enjoyed the stories, character development, and dialogue. There were plenty of plot twists that I didn’t see coming and that added to the book’s mystique. When I stopped reading to work, I found myself wondering what happened in the book, and replaying parts of a particular story in my head to see if I could figure more out. It has been a while since I enjoyed a book this much. It’s a well written short story collection with perfect pacing. Not much is as it appears here, which is just the way fans of the mystery, thriller and suspense will want it.

This was a fascinating and captivating read that had me immersed from the beginning. The stories flowed from scene to scene with ease, and the author shows exceptional ability when it comes to storytelling. There are plenty of attention-grabbing moments in this page turner that will take the reader on a ‘train-wreck speed’ journey.

Highly recommended and a well-deserved five stars from me.

This book contains 19 short stories that tug at the heart strings. There is far to many stories to tell you about individually but all the stories have twist and turns and a few I needed a tissue in order to continue reading. The book covers everything from a soldier being discharged from the arm and his love for his partner, to a doctor convincing a patient he does have a reason to live, to a mother protecting her family and the lengths she will go to, to police detectives out smarting criminals and getting a confession. This book covers it all but the main theme is good triumphs over evil, even if a few tears are needed to do it.
Leslie Wolfe is an excellent and talented writer in order to get the reader to feel so much emotion in ten or twelve pages. A must read.

This collection of short stories is a good read, with each a perfect length for reading during your commute or meal break etc. I liked the range of circumstances and personalities portrayed in them, and the complete contrasts in human nature we see, from evil to earnest, innocent to protective, funny to exhausted. I'd definitely recommend this anthology to all adult readers, as there's something for everyone in these pages, and I hope that the author continues to write short stories like these, as I really enjoy reading them. Just beware, many will stick with you, and you will find yourself constantly thinking "just one more..."!
NB I received a complimentary copy of this book, but I always give an HONEST review based wholly on my own opinions

This was definitely not what I expected when I received this book by Leslie Wolfe. This is an assortment of short stories written in three distinct areas; Love, Lies and Murder. You could pick and choose, but it would be hard to do in my opinion. These are good for times when you don't have time to get into a long book and want to "kill" some time. I have enjoyed anything that I have read by this author and would definitely recommend her to anyone that enjoys this genre. My husband and I enjoy "crime fiction" while traveling and I am looking forward to trying her books on audio for these long trips.
I received a complimentary copy of this book. This is my voluntary, honest and completely personal review.

This is a collection of short stories that will hit you right in your heart. They are all emotionally charged, all different but linked by extreme feelings and conflict.

All of them are vivid and captivating, with compelling characters and so well structured that I'd have problems trying to choose just one favourite because there are so many that truly touched me. 'Paying forward' is simply powerful. 'A Tour of duty' felt particularly close because I had a dog like that one and it brought so many memories!. 'Noisy Creek'! oh, it took me completely by surprise! 'Adam' is simply heart-warming and... see what I said? I can't choose!

And Gwendolyn Druyor did such a wonderful job with the narration!

I can't recommend this audiobook enough.

This collection of 19 short stories is an excellent reflection of Leslie Wolfe's writing/storytelling ability. Having read all of Leslie's books, I was already familiar with her storytelling, and once I began to read Love, Lies and Murder I realized I had read a few of these short stories before in emails that she sent to her email list. Interestingly enough, rereading these stories provided the same level of entertainment as they did on the first reading. If you are looking for reading material for those times when you just don't have time to get involved in a book, these stories are perfect, or if you aren't familiar with Leslie's writing these 19 stories are a fabulous introduction.

Awesome Sauce

The title literally let's you know what the book is about. The book is divided into three sections and each section is about one of the words in it. So, the first section is about love and each section follows the theme of the introductory word.
The book is expertly crafted and each section is full of wonderful stories. This book is, as my daughter says, 'Awesome sauce'.

Definitely My Least Favorite Leslie Wolfe Book

This book is a collection of short stories and totally unlike any other Leslie Wolfe book I have read. To be honest, I only read half-way through the book before I stopped. I am used to sitting on the edge of my seat reading through the twists and turns in Ms. Wolfe's books. This book had no twists and turns. Guess I prefer full length novels.

Love, Lies and Murder
by
Leslie Wolfe

Love, Lies and Murder by Leslie Wolfe was my first of Ms Wolfe’s short stories and possibly my last, not because of the stories but because they were, just that….short stories.

The ‘short’ short stories were too short and left me wanting more. The longer stories were meatier and would build my interest when only to end. Abruptly.

During the past twelve months I have read several books of short stories and even though I can read an entire story while having a coffee, I still prefer a novel. Therefore, I have decided I am not a fan of short stories and only rate them as three star reads or less. Love, Lies and Murder definitely rates a three star read.

Concluding on a happier note, these short stories were ideal to reading while partaking of coffee or before lights out at night. I found it easy to read two stories in bed before I fell asleep. However, there was always something missing.

Leslie Wolfe fans will, like me, enjoy the stories. It all boils down to whether you like short stories, or not.

At the time of writing my review other Goodreads readers had award Love, Lies and Murder an average of 4.14 stars from 49 ratings and 16 reviews.

I am usually not a fan of short story collection but this one hooked me right from the first story until the very last. Each story spoke of times that could happen to any one of us. Each story, however, ramped up the tension just a little more which kept me reading the next one and the next one until the end. Each one has a satisfying ending.

I was fortunate to receive the audio book in return for honest review. I enjoyed these stories. They were short but exciting and all of them kept me wondering until the end. I enjoyed the narrator as well and kept my attention (I have stopped listening to books in the past if the reader was not to my liking). Great Job Leslie and look forward to more of your books.

Review of "Love, Lies and Murder"

Enjoyed each story! Each one had a plot that wouldn't let you stop until you finished the story. The stories of the military man and his dog plus "Adam" particularly stood out. Leslie Wolfe continues to write tremendous short stories and novels. Just about all these stories could become great novels.

Leslie Wolfe is one of the best authors I have ever read , and I read at least a book every day. Which characters would be best for additional books? All of them! I have. Now read all of her books, and eagerly await any more. Please keep writing any or all of the series or any new ones. Thanks!

Happy Endings

This is a collection of short stories; totally different than what I have come to expect from Wolfe. Not as exciting or raw as her other series. This would qualify as a cozy. I was gifted this from the author.

Good quick read

This is a good purchase for people who don’t have a lot of time to read. The stories are interesting / some more than others. Also would be good if you are riding a bus to work... and don’t want those long novels that go on and on...
