A collection of poetry that deals with sad thoughts, incidents and memories. Talks about love, loss, grief, pain, loneliness and bad memories, possibly depression, guilt, suicidal tendencies, thoughts and self-worth. It also aims at understanding the whole process and stages of depression that a person might experience.
Priyanka Singh ( Author of death before cremation: collection of poetry) is a poetess (petitewrites) from the state of Madhya Pradesh, India. She is also a student of law at a top law school. Her passion for writing dates back to 2008, it was only a decade later when she was set to release her first collection of poetry, ' Death before cremation'.
I would like to thank Priyanka Singh for sending me a copy of her poetry book, Death Before Cremation, in exchange for my review.
I found the poems very touching and some of them were even relatable. I really enjoy reading how this book went from talking about loneliness and heart breaks to self-worth and moving! 💯
Moreover, I really love that part when Priyanka includes her advices in battling depression at the end of the book. It was VERY HELPFUL, especially for me. She definitely gives great advice that will stay with me for a very long time ❤
Skillful piece of art. I loved the way author talks about things that we see on our daily basis and relate it to human life. Common yet very deep at the same time. Easily relatable. Definitely a treat for avid poem readers. Would want to read more from the author.
The Book is really great, starting from the front cover to the last line at the back cover, I can feel every Poem as I read them, True Masterpiece. The author and the Book helped me a lot when I was feeling low and I feel so much better now after meeting the author and reading the Book.
It was very astonishing. Poems were soo deep and relatable. Still can't get few of the things from my head. Really looking forward to read more from the writer.
Read this book and I found a new meaning of expensive alcohol . Poison dresses like Simmering gold. "So yes, expensive alcohol. You know how beautiful it is to look at, how very attractive, you expect it to taste like an elixir given the way it looks, but the moment you actually drink it, it's bitter, intense, overpowering but you still keep going but it is after all, an addiction behind all it's glory. You know it does your body and mind a world of irreparable harm but even that doesn't stop you.. Nothing stops you. So the thing is, some relationships are like that, actually most of them are. Like expensive alcohol." The writer beautifully poured her hurt into words , so courageously opening about her battle with depression too. A must read for sure.
It is so difficult to explain someone about your mental illness reading this booking so relieving this book wonderfully expalins the ups and downs. I could not recommended this book more, This book talks about author’s struggles with depression while giving helpful advice and thoughtful perspective. Great work by Priyanka Singh.
