An angsty, roommates-to-lovers, hot doctor romance! I've never had good luck. Until the day I was hit by a car. That was the day I met Corbin, a hot, wealthy doctor. I thought guys like him only existed in dreams and yet Corbin is real. And he wants to date me! I thought my luck was finally changing for the better. But my good luck didn't last. Just as Corbin and I are getting closer, his ex-girlfriend shows up and wants him back. Corbin swears he'd never go back to her, but I'm not sure I believe him, especially when I find out why his ex wants him back. I really believed Corbin was the one, but was it all too good to be true? Or will good luck find me again?

Ok so I liked this story. I have read quite a few books by Allie Everhart. She’s always an auto buy author for me. She had me hooked when I read all 7 books of the Jade series which I gave all 5 stars. Unfortunately this one just didn’t do it for me. I lost interest at times and the miscommunication annoyed me. But I did like the relationship between the two characters. Allie never disappoints when it comes to their connection.

Lucky Star was one sweet love story. The way their love story started was unconventional, but their connection was instant and electric. Star and Corbin are the nicest people anyone could meet, in my opinion are actually way too nice. But people like them do exist and others, usually take advantage of them because of it. Lauren was one evil woman, the way she tried to manipulate and run Corbin’s life was so much. The whole time I was reading I wanted to smack the heck out of Lauren, she was one wicked witch.
I really did enjoy this easy love story. Corbin and Star may have been different in their line of work or status in life, but they were more a like human beings than they knew. They were both very forgiving, loving and wanted to see the best in people. Even after what Lauren did to them, they still forgave her. If I were them, forgiveness would’ve never came so easily and acceptance never would’ve happened. I may learn to forgive others that wronged me, but I could never accept them to be part of my life knowing what they did. That is the magic of how Corbin and Star was, they had very forgiving hearts. That to me is the biggest reason why they belonged together.
An enjoyable, beautiful love story of love and forgiveness.
I have to say that I truly expected more out of this book. It was good but not like all the other Allie Everhart books I read. It just lacked real Charisma and Chemistry. While it had potential, it didn't knock it out of the park for me and there were times that I was losing interest. I loved Anyone but Her for this one didn't really earn my stamp.
It's okay. Lots of ex drama. Ex is a bit OTT. I would have liked the Hero to get a bit of backbone, his ex basically ran his life when they were together and he let her. No intimate scenes with anyone other than the Hero and heroine but constant references to comparisons with the ex in other ways. HEA.
Overall, I enjoyed this book. If you like romance novels that do not run the smooth course to true love, then this is the book for you. I felt that the relationship between Star and Corbin moved at warp speed at times, and then dragged at others. But, I felt that Star and Corbin had chemistry, and found myself rooting for them to work everything out. Corbin's ex even had redeeming qualities at the end, which was a surprising element.
I LOVED IT! I'm so happy I received this ARC. At first I wasn't sure what to think because the story was very detailed. There's alot of character background which I like in a book but I thought it started to feel like too much. This story was not what I've come to expect from Allie. There just wasn't the usual excitement and mystery. Corbin is a rich gorgeous Doctor who is really unhappy in his current relationship with Lauren who is a total stuck up snobby bitch. Star moves to Boston for a job and because she had to move out of her parents house. Then this poor woman has a stroke of THE worst luck ever. The first day of her new job her car won't star so she rides her bike and it starts to rain then just when she thinks she gonna get to work early Bam! she's hit by a car. Then she meets Corbin when she comes to in the hospital and then things go from bad to worse when she loses even more and Corbin takes Star to his apartment to live. The chemistry between these two is off the charts. Star thinks Corbin is way out of her league but he so sweet and kind to her all it takes is his touch and it leaves her wanting more. Corbin also feels the spark between them and feels an obligation to her. The more they get to know each other the attraction grows but the evil Lauren will not give up and refuses to let go. It's actually kinda funny how conceited she is. Of course Corbin's family and Lauren's family are furious about the break up. As Corbin and Star grow closer the Doctor takes VERY good care of the patient and things start to really heat up. This book is a really sweet love story. Corbin falls so in love with Star. It's a love he's never felt before. Star returns his love but is sceptical about their relationship because Lauren is constantly butting in to their relationship and lets just say she's really sneeky, or thinks she is. Then something happens and I couldn't read fast enough I had my suspicions as to what was wrong with Lauren and I was right. I laughed alittle and at times I got a lump in my throat but they get their hea. I highly recommend this book to everyone but I must say it's more for the young adult.
I would read this again and again. Would definitely recommend to anyone. Great story line with good drama and great romance. What I loved the most is yes the guy and girl start having feelings for each other but the story didn't rush it. Sometimes books have the characters pounce on each other and it's not very realistic. This story felt more like something that could happen in a real life situation. Makes you actually feel the characters out and understand there personality. Great read!!
You ever read a book so good as soon you get done you wish you could erase it all and experience it for the first time again?? That's what you get with Lucky Star! Extremely entertaining, captivating, emotional and very interesting read. I could not put it down. Wonderfully written with strong characters.
Allie always tells a good story and Lucky Star is no exception. Her stories always read smoothly and contain relatable characters. Can't wait to see what's next.
Star has the worst things happen to her - bad luck just seems to find her. Just when she thinks her luck has turned around when her friend hooks her up with a job, one catastrophe after another happens on the way there for her first day. But nothing tops off her bad luck by getting hit by a car!
Corbin is stressed & distracted on his way to work when he accidentally hits a woman on a bike. Feeling incredibly guilty he manages to keep her company until she’s better. But with no job, no transportation & no place to live, Corbin helps her more than anyone else has ever had in her life. Spending time together has Star really liking Corbin. But with his ex-girlfriend still a fixture in his life, will luck finally be on her side? Another great read! Looking forward to her next book!
This book, just like all of Allie Everharts books is amazing! Star is an extremely unlucky person. Seriously, if you think you have bad luck, think again. Corbin hits her with his while she is on her way to her first day at work in a new city. Corbin has an extremely hard time forgiving himself for what he did. Stars seems to find some luck in her life.... Until LAUREN ( oh boy, how i hate her) Lauren is Corbins EX. You need to read the book to find out what happens. Trust me, its worth the read. I read this in one sitting. I couldnt put this book down.
I love the characters and this was a very quick read for me. I could not put it down once I started reading it. It’s a great love story and you feel connected to both star and Corbin from the start. I love this author and will continue to read her stories. Just try any of her books and I know you will love them as much as I did.
I received and ARC of this book, so I’m going to leave an honest review! I have read almost every book by Allie. The last couple books by her have been lacking to me. Figured I’d give this one a go. Personally it didn’t get good until 75% in. It was good just not great.
I loved Corbin and Star! Allie Everhart is the author who made me love reading and Not surprisingly she made another winner with Lucky Star. I 100% recommend this book and can’t wait for it to come out so everyone can read it.
I absolutely loved the premise of this book! Star has the absolute worst luck, and in an attempt to move into the adult world, she moves out and gets an interview for a job. Corbin has finally achieved his career goal as a practicing doctor, but is realizing how unhappy he is in his personal life. As Star’s luck would have it, as she is traveling to her interview, she ends up being hit by Corbin’s car! Feeling terrible, Corbin doesn’t leave her side, and as Star’s luck continues to get worse, Corbin steps in and resolves all the problems it’s causing. The more time they spend together, the more feelings continue to develop, and they decide to make an attempt out of a relationship. With the combination of Corbin’s past and Star’s luck catching up on them, Allie shows the fall-out of a relationship based on insta-love. Overall, this is another great read from Allie and I really enjoy how she showcases how an insta-love story isn’t always perfect. It was a great storyline and great flow within the book as well. Can’t wait for the next book! I voluntarily read and reviewed an Advance Reader Copy of this book.
First off, I LOVED this story and I loved Star and Corbin! Poor Star, she’s had a string of bad luck. It’s just one thing after another for her. Star is trying to grow up and become independent of her family, and finally moving out of the family basement. But bad luck just seems to follow her and deter her from following her dreams. Nothing seems to slow her down and she’s determined to start her life, no matter what obstacles are in her way. Then comes Corbin who literally runs into Star. I absolutely fell in love with Corbin. He’s very swoony! He’s a charming, gorgeous doctor who tries to take Star under his wing, but Corbin comes with his own problems. He’s beginning on the path to live his life the way he wants to, and not how he’s “supposed” to. When Star and Corbin’s lives collide, something magic happens. I don’t want to give too much away, so you can enjoy their journey as much as I did. This book has humor, angst, redemption, growth, and forgiveness. Their story will make you laugh, get angry, cry, and fall in love! I loved this book so much and I know you will too!
I wasn’t sure what to expect with this book, but it turned out to have some substance to it along with some endearing characters. Star Jenkins is having a bad day, but she refuses to get upset about it...even when she wakes up in the hospital after being hit by a car.
Dr. Corbin Sterling was just going through the motions in life, not enjoying much at all. With things on his mind he accidentally hits a girl on a bike. Corbin stays with Star because she is alone and he really feels bad.
They enjoy each other’s company and he is in awe over her positive attitude (even when more crappy stuff happens). Their relationship grows and they face obstacles, but they both persevere. Star handles problems in a very mature manner.
There were a few twists and surprises, but everything ended up well!
Corbin and Star were adorable. But they were times that I just wanted to shake Corbin. For a guy, he was naive and easily manipulated. They met in the strangest way and from then on they were sort of friends that eventually turned into more. They were several obstacles because poor Corbin everyone tried to control him and he barely paid any attention. Then when he met Star everything changed and he was determined to keep her by his side no matter what. Poor Star has been thru so much but she wasn’t really a doormat and she tried opening Corbin eyes to everything else. She also fought hard to keep their relationship. There was an incident that I thought was the breaking point but Star made it her mission to find out the truth. Great story and very cute ending.
Star and Corbin's first time meeting was different. I liked Star's character for being a very supportive girlfriend when Corbin really needed her. She did not run off. Star stood by Corbin. Corbin needed Star. He was use to everybody telling him what to do with his life. Star understood him and did not try to change him. Corbin's family and his ex were mean.
I love a book with drama and angst. It just makes the read so real and keeps me reading till the drama works itself out. This book did NOT disappoint. It gave me the drama, angst, and love that makes a book complete. This is a book you need to take the time to read. It was amazing.
This story was fun & sweet! Star was a mature 23 year old, making it seem possible for her to have a relationship with a little bit older wealthy man. The book was entertaining & I appreciated how calm Star was through it all. I think I would’ve blown my top & given up.
Get swept up as Corbin and Star's very sweet story unfolds. I really enjoyed the perfectly paced build up, with just the right amount of heat, romance and a little mystery on their way to finding HEA.
It's a great story line. I say it's a must read and the only problem I had with it was the writings sometimes it felt like I was just reading and not part of the story. I love to read when the story line makes you feel part of it.
I loved every page. Corbin and Star meet under a less than desirable way. But the pull was real and they fight what they feel until they cannot. Great characters made for a great read.
A book about a girl down on her luck that gets hit by a car driven by a dr. She end up homeless and without a job so he let's her stay with him. And they end up falling in love even with a crazy ex on there ass.
I really enjoyed this meet-cute book! Lots of twists and turns with a manipulative ex in the mix, but this book shows that people can change and that you might just fall in love with someone that you least expect! This book also makes me want to go adopt a cute little dog named “Lucky”!
