I think I’ve stepped into the middle of a story without knowing it.
Which meant it took me to the end of this to really get into it.

Thanks to Ms extensive knowledge I now know I have stepped into the middle of the story as this is a series of books by different authors all based around the same Alien Planet. Planet Athion. The other books all follow different storylines but some of the missing descriptions of the Aliens and the world may be found in them.

https://www.goodreads.com/book/show/4...
And
https://www.goodreads.com/book/show/4...
And
https://www.goodreads.com/book/show/4...

This is make me feel differently, if I’d read those other books then I might not appreciate the retelling of the same background over again. But I’m not, and I need that info to connect with this one.

That should have been made clear as this appears to the average reader to be book 1 in a new series. I don’t expect to only get half the story when I’m starting book 1.
It’s manageable without reading the others, we get the bare bones of the backstory and some idea of this world but it’s not compete.

Shelving that, by the end I was into it and I do really want the next part of the story.
Rogue is a human who’s been kidnapped from earth and after being experimented on is now genetically modified with super strength and healing abilities. She’s in a gladiator arena and fights to entertain the Aliens who kidnapped her, The Trad. They seem to be human like with shifting reptile features. This is what I’m gathered from the little information we’re given.

Rogue is the only surviving female of these experiments and has a band of gladiators at her back whom she fights with. It’s all a little vague and I had so many questions about this Alien planet. The facility they are prisoners in, the training, the experiments. Etc etc, so I think this cements my theory that you might need to read the others first.
The Aliens are humanoid and to be honest I didn’t even get the feel that they were in space. It could have been on Faerie just as easily.
Again by the end my opinion changed somewhat so I would say stick with it, it’s not long so it won’t be hard to give it a chance.
The harem in true Cassidy style seems like it’s going to grow from book to book so I can’t include my guy guide.

I wanted more. I need the parts I’m missing to connect with this MC. She doesn’t have much personality, and apart from the cover I have no idea what she looks like. There’s no defining things about her, she could be any of Cassidy’s FMCs. Put Eva or Echo in there and I probably wouldn’t even notice the difference.

Hoping for more from the next.

4.5.

I really enjoyed Debbie Cassidy's new foray into Sci Fi.

Planet Athion seems to be a series of books set in the same world, but with different authors and characters.

I read the first book, which is by a different author, and I didn't like the characters, or the author's writing style enough to keep going with the ones in her series. But, for me, this book had all of the things I've ocke to love in Debbie Cassidy's books: kick ass female MC who you quickly come to root for, fast pacing and swoon worthy love interests.

This book moves quickly and is pretty brutal at times, and, as always, I was left wanting more.

The only criticism, which isn't the author's fault, as I didn't bother to read the previous books, is that I would have liked a little more world building, but I know that's all done in the previous books.

Can't wait for the next!

Didn’t love it,didn’t hate it...

I’m really not sure how I feel about this .. it’s weird but the only character I felt like I really liked was Vex. He came into the story late but he made a good impression. I want to say I identified w/him the most, but that sounds like I’m like him in some way. Which I’m soo not . At least I don5 think soo but like him and the others, I don’t know what it’s like to have to just keep your head down while you do what you have to to survive....
Even though Vex comes late to the party ,we quickly see he has standards and boundaries and limits . That was really important. We saw him in a horrible situation an yet, while he played the game, he didn’t let it play him.
Weirdly by seeing what he wouldn’t do, I’m walking away feeling like I got to know him the best other than “Rogue”.
“Rogue” needs a better name.
Other than the heroine,Vex is the only one I truly trust atm.
I like Xavier, but he came in one a lie and we don’t know where his true allegiance lies...
I’m curious enough to ant more but honestly if this wasn’t K U,I can’t say I’d be bothering .
This feels like it “should” be on book but was split up for maybe monetary reasons... this isn’t that long and it just do ant make sense other wise..
I’d recommend this soo far ONLY if you have KU.
Doesn’t end on a cliffhanger per se, more like a TBC, To. Be. Continued.

When this novella opens it is mid-action scene and my first thought was "oh, crap, I need to go read the rest of the Planet Athion world first" (I had only read one previous Planet Athion story) but I quickly realized I didn't really NEED to. I imagine a good portion of the explanation for the world and the different species and the political situation is in those other stories, but not knowing every detail at the outset didn't keep me from enjoying another of Debbie Cassidy's signature fast-paced, action-packed stories. I love how she keeps us guessing who will be romantically involved with the heroine and how her stories have actual stakes and unpredictable consequences. I really, really enjoyed one hero - he had a great enemies-to-lovers vibe with the heroine. This was a fun, entertaining sci-fi read that felt kind of like an episode of a sci-fi TV series, looking forward to part two.

Fighting For Survival

Rogue makes my heart hurt. She’s been through so much, she doesn’t even have her own name anymore. We are thrown in at the deep end with her as she fights for survival in a gladiator pit, her House’s team fighting against another’s. Her team may be victorious and she may be alive but she still lives in a cell, living on gruel and tortured by her captors.

Rogue was kidnapped from Earth and dispatched to a rock at the end of nowhere to entertain the masses. No longer fertile due to a drug, she has been transformed into a berserker. She still has friends who make her life bearable, but she is tormented daily as the lone woman in the fights.

The author builds a world cleverly, bit by bit, as the nature of Rogue’s situation is revealed. We learn about the different species she is fighting against, and with, and hear more of her personal story. Then she is thrown at the hardest House Team to beat and she knows her days are numbered.

This subject matter is handled well and the horror and banality of Rogue’s situation is conveyed to the reader. We cannot help but empathise with her situation, an ordinary girl from England suddenly out amongst the stars fighting for her life.

There is a cliff hanger but the next book is already available.

I had no clue that ROGUE was part of an ongoing multi-author series before reading it and starting this review. I'm not really sure how I missed this fact, but I feel like you can read this book without knowing the world and species that live in it.

I would have liked some more backstory. I didn't feel like we knew enough about the world or the characters and I didn't feel like we got enough information about the characters and species of the world while in the story. Then again. If I would have read the series from the beginning, I would know these things, so I won't fault the story for those points.

I DO feel like I would have benefited from knowing more about the characters in Debbie Cassidy's story. We do learn some things about them, but I think the length of the book really made it hard to get to know them. I didn't feel like I could totally connect with Rogue because I didn't feel like I got to know who she was. I know she's bad-ass, but that was about it.

I felt it ended way to soon. I was just getting really into the story when it ended. The ending felt abrupt and jolted me out of the flow of the story. Having said that, I was really into the story when it ended and want to know what will happen next after a few bombshells were revealed.

I am not a huge fan of syfy romances but if you tell me that Debbie Cassidy is writing the story. Okay I am in. And let me tell you. Rogue: Planet Athion was freaking awesome.

The main female lead is a tough, hard as nails woman who fights to survive. And honestly I was a fan from the start. Once I started reading, I could not stop. Just fast paced and action packed. Before you know it, you're done. Needing more! Our female lead is Rogue. Stolen from earth for breeding, but due to a drug given to her, turned out barren. Then she was forced to fight in a pit with her fellow prisoners gladiator style. They have to rely on each other to win. Because if they do not, it's death, or something much worse for her. When they are up against another house, one that is known for it's brutality, Rogue and her team need to win. But when one of her team dies, another one takes his place. He is a fierce warrior. But is he their savior or their deaths?

I really felt like I was watching a movie with how everything played out. The pace of the story is fast, action packed and had me totally engaged in what was going to happen next. The characters are hard, after all this is a hard world.

And imagine my surprise when I found out that the Plant Athion is an ongoing series by different authors. I am intrigued enough by Rogue to give the rest a try.

In the futuristic world, females are a rare commodity, and fertile ones even more. No surprise that there is some trafficking going on. However, Rogue is different - rendered infertile by the fertility drug, she was thrown into the fighting pit with no hope for escape and danger to her life every day. She holds her own well, though attachments are a weakness in this place and her heart is about to be broken. However, hope is a powerful ally..
Very fast read, as this was relatively short novella, and I liked the sci-fi setup very much. Two things though that forced me to remove one star from the review - the jump in the middle of something ongoing (after some search I found out it is part of a collection of stories set into the same world, but e.g. the specifics of the races etc were not included here, and I was confused how am I supposed to know and understand what goes on), and the face used on the cover (she looks delicate, ethereal, and far from a skilled pit fighter ready to kick some ass. Does not correspond to the image of Rogue presented in the story at all.). Otherwise, I enjoyed the story, it was full of action, balancing on the edge with emotions and tough decisions, with a big promise of twists in the next books. I am looking forward to it already :)

This is Planet Athion Sci Fi Cassidy style and its freakin awsom. It starts off fast paced, grabs you by the short and curleys and holds on so that you absolutely cannot put this book down until its finished. Luckily being a novella its not a long book but unluckily it means that once you finish it you are left completely desperate for the next instament.

Rouge has been abducted from her home planet and after an unusual reaction to a fertility drug she is sent to a planet where she has to fight to survive literally - the fights take place in an arena and are always in teams of 4. But when one of her team mates that she has fallen for is killed things go from bad to worse, heartbroken and trying to hold herself together things go from bad to worse and she is couped up with a Trad and one of the ones with the absolute worst reputation.

I wont give you any spoilers so you will need to read the book to see what happens next.

Planet Athion is a world/universe where several writers have collections of books and this is the fastest paced book so far to date and one of my absolute favourites.

Debbie Cassidy in for another win

Love sci-fi?
Love gladiators?
Love strong female leads?
This is the book for you.

Rogue was just another female human living her life on Earth when one night she was betrayed and sold out to an alien race and transported far from home. Now a prisoner in a gladiator style arena she has to fight for her life if she wants to live to see another day.

This book is action packed with a lot of blood, death and hot as sin scenes. Rogue is a strong character with many flaws however she has to overcome them in the face of her enemies, which as it stands she is in no shortage of. Coming to terms with the fact she may never feel the sun on her face again she finds a family in the pits of death and sand and will do anything to hold onto them. However the fight master has different ideas and will do everything in his power to tear what she has come to love apart.

This book leaves you on a major cliffhanger and we won’t see the second installment to find out the fate of Rogue until August 😳 how will we cope readers? I need to know what happens to our girl.

I got to say I do love a good sci-fi story and this definitely ticked all the boxes, the fact it's a whychoose romance just makes it that much better. I think I had a mixture of emotions during this story, triumph, frustration but also heartbreak. Rogue has been kidnapped from Earth by the Trag, and after being experimented on has been left on a mining asteroid where she must now fight for her life.

We are dropped straight into the action and very quickly introduced to Rogue and her teammates as they fight for their lives. When I first started this story I honestly didn't know where it was going to go, so there were plenty of surprises on the way with all the twists and turns. People I thought would live didn't, and people I thought would die survived. Not all the characters are what they seem, and they definitely left me shocked with some of the revelations along the way.

Got to say I'm so ready for the next book which comes out in August, it honestly can't come quick enough!

Is there a genre that Debbie can’t write?! I’ve read a few sci-fi books over the years . While it is not my go to genre, I do enjoy the odd book here and there. Well this is one of them! I loved the world building, which Debbie Cassidy has a knack for. The characters are really well developed and I quickly grew to enjoy their unique personalities. This book is the first in a trilogy and it starts itself off as a fast paced, action filled drama with enough suspense and romance and heart break to keep you on the edge of your seat! Debbie has created another strong female lead that rises above the devastating situation she finds herself in . Rouge is a fighter now. Stolen from earth for nefarious reasons, Along with her team mates she fights to survive in a gladiator style environment for the entertainment of others. Little did she know, this was only the beginning of her wild journey. I am excited to read the next in this series and the rest of the Planet Athion books.

Human females treated like cattle...

Human females are a rare commodity as two species vie for contention. The Trads n the Athlon both lost their female population due to a virus. The Trads charm women, then abduct them, to serve as incubators for their offspring. A fertility drug is administered with disastrous results. It rendered the women infertile.
The Athion forged an alliance with Earth n set up bride program.
Rogue, is the last living drugged female, sent to the mining asteroid Vesper V. Beneath its surface is a fighting arena where it's kill or be killed. She has become a force to be reckoned with as she goes into berserker rages in the arena.
There's more to this story as I feel that human females , while precious, are treated more like cattle to be bartered or sold without any regard to their feelings.
I liked the concept of this story until I got to the end. Argh.... a cliffhanger. But then I received this as a freebie. Live. n learn. 😤😲😲😂😂

hard to review this book as it didn't really finish. Rogue escaped one prison but landed into another one and the book ends so you don't get to see how the story ends.

was sad that most of the fighting team died and I wish that she got to kill the prison leader but maybe she will in a future book.

I am interested to see what would happen with the rest of this book. Does she sleep with either of the two aliens from her team? does she end up with one or both of them? do they get away from the new treat? how does this story end?
But to find all of that out in one story with out having to purchase another book to find out what comes next and if buy the next book will that finish the story?

A story has a start a middle and and end this book is not a story it is just the start of one.

This is a good start to a scifi series. Women from Earth are abducted by two races on a planet, the Trads and the Athlon for reasons that they lost their females on their planet from a virus, and the women on Earth may be the only way to continue their races. The Trads used fertility drugs on the women that misfired and turned the women infertile. Of these infertile women, the lone survivor, Rogue is thrust into battle units, or a fight club – which is for the bigwigs entertainment, and these are fights to the death. The drugs have changed Rogue into almost a Berserker, and is a tough opponent.

I can’t give away too much, as this a shorter story, but the story is a good start to this series. I wasn’t blown away, and depending on my time and TBR pile as to whether I get back to the series.

I have read some but not all of the other Planet Athion books so it’s hard for me to say if you really need to read them first, but I think this would be ok as a standalone series. I have to admit, given the Trads are attractive in human form, I had already wondered if we would see a Trad hero, and when I saw this blurb I knew Ms Cassidy would do it just right. She has made me fall for all of her other RH heroes, so that was a no brainer. We get classic Ms Cassidy writing here, well scripted action, characters you barrack for, and cry when they fall. Don’t be surprisedif someone close to the FMC dies, that’s pretty much a given now for me going in to her novels, nothing is ever so tidy as an HEA for everyone.

I quite liked it – but I am a sucker for gladiator/fighting pit stories. Particularly with kick-ass woman who can hold their own in the pits and Rogue can certainly do that with the help of her team. I did feel a little like I was coming into a series part way through – which as this was my first Athion book I kind of was but it was easy enough to pick up what was going on and follow along. For those that don’t know Athion is a multi author universe so while the world is established Rogue’s story is new. I really liked Vex – he is an interesting character and probably the only one I trust cause he has proven he can be trusted now that Rogue’s team/friends are dead. And that is something that I wasn’t happy about – how they killed off her entire team right before the escape.

I just finished reading this novella and my heart is pounding. It can't end like that. The story had so much raw emotional intensity that I even teared up in a few places. Rogue had been abducted from Earth and taken to another planet to be bred. When that didn't work out they sent her to fight in the pits. There was so much going on and I don't want to say anything more to give anything away, but know that this story is totally worth it. The characters are awesome and the created world is extraordinary. I'll be waiting on the edge of my seat for the next book.

I received an ARC of this book and voluntarily reviewed it.

middle of the story kind of a book but understandable, i can follow the plot enough. i read the VERY first book which helped me get a grasp on things, i understood most of the references and back story just from that. the MC is a altered human female who has been stolen from earth to be a breeder however the bad alien drug made her an infertile warrior instead of a lush breeder but she still gets " heat" cycles instead of periods where she is all about the D.. the books are ridiculously short but do have steam and sizzle, i wouldn't say no to these guys. its worth a read but on the whole probs read the other books, they are probably pretty good as well.

Debbie Cassidy is one of my all time favorite authors, and while fantasy is her go-to, she stepped out of her comfort zone with this book and going into the sci-fi realm, and I cannot begin to express how excited I was when I saw this cover. Guys. Guys! *SWOON*

Debbie does not let us down. Her style is all her own, and this book has me drooling for more! And while there is a cliffhanger (because, DUH! Series), it's not just cut off in the middle of the plot. It actually ends on a chapter of their life, not trying to be punny or cliché. If sci-fi isn't your thing, I still urge you to read this if you're a Cassidy fan.

Debbie Cassidy Never Disappoints!

I know for certain if I start a Debbie Cassidy book, I am doomed...meaning nothing is getting accomplished until I finish the story. Rogue was no exception. Holy alien hotness! Her men were diverse and delicious. The female MC, Rogue, is strong, capable, yet damaged. The relationships she forms with the male characters are deep and intense. This author is queen of slow burn "why choose" romance. Though, I think, at this point, I would choose Vex. I can't wait to see how this adventure in space plays out.

If you’re looking for an off earth adventure action standalone story, DO NOT READ THIS BOOK. It comes to a ‘to be continued’ end.

But other than that this book had SEVERAL triggering aspects (kidnapping, sexual assault, threat of sexual assault, intent to keep for experimentation etc.) that should have been mentioned in the blurb. It is also a take no prisoners, Game of Thrones type of story so don’t get too attached to anyone.

Also this wasn’t the cover I got on iBooks. If this had been I would have noticed the repeat heroine on the front cover and said ‘no thanks’

Loved this book!!

There’s space travel, sci-fi, and earth women being kidnapped and imprisoned for breeding. Rogue was given a fertility drug against her will that made her infertile and start exhibiting extra strength, healing, and stamina. She is in a prison forced to fight to the death to stay alive. And that’s just the beginning of her troubles. This book is filled with heartache and there’s more to come. Can’t wait to read what’s next!!

Really cool read

Loved the sci-fi aspect of this book. Rogue's a fighter, literally in this case. Finally free after being captured by an alien race, finding out that not all of that race are evil and losing friends makes for quite the emotional roller coaster. Turns out that the freedom she worked for may be nothing but an illusion. My money is on Rogue though and the 2 men she's unknowingly reeled in.

woah. so much in such a tiny package

Spice: 1.5/5 - trigger warnings!!

88 pages but I felt like i just read 500 pages with all that just happened. So much love and loss so quickly. I’m devastated.

This series has started off intense. You don’t need the other authors series to understand what’s happening, but be aware the MC is a female… maybe that’s obvious to others but I was confused chapter one.

Another great installment in the Athion series. I love how each book can be so different (with all the different authors) but they still deliver some amazing sci-fi goodness. This was a little short, wish there was a bit more to it but thankfully there’s more to come for Rogue and this was only the beginning.
