Who's causing the relative peace and quiet in a small north Texas town to be shattered by a string of unexplained bloody murders? Three victims die with no external marks. What's responsible for the deaths and how are they doing it? Bone and Loraine must discover the who, the how—and equally as perplexing—the why these people died. The two cops are faced with an evil, sociopathic genius who will stop at nothing to exact his personal plan of revenge. They must beat him at his own game. Will they succeed? Or will they also fall victim to his strange weapon?
Well, I am glad that this USAFA grad-pilot-jock is returning to western fiction. And I am so impressed since most of my USAF vet friends can’t tell a decent story if they are forced to sit on their hands. Steinke has very effectively added his voice into the Bone and Lorraine fiction of marine Ken Farmer. More or less a prequel before Bone and Lorraine travel back in time. As a physician I m intrigued by Steinke’s description of mysterious deaths – literally bleeding to death without any external marks, possibly the victims of secret military-grade death rays. I am also fired up by Steinke’s evil bad guys who are involved in crimes against children. As an army veteran myself, it is interesting that Steinke adds some USAF veteran heroes to the multiple of marine heroes of Farmer’s fiction. Too bad there aren’t any army veterans kicking ass in Farmer-Steinke fiction. Just orders DEVIL’S CANYON in preparation for Steinke’s NO TIME TO DIE. Congrats zoomie on a great read. Beat Navy.
After coming across the "black Eagle Force " series, I have enjoyed the work of Mr. Stienke. I also enjoy the results of him collaborating with other authors to produce some very entertaining books and series . In this book what struck a responsive note to me was yes the characters are police officers, but they are also human beings . My wife and I when the need arises , work close in hand with our local police force .(Neighborhood Watch, food drives, disaster relief, literacy enhancement programs etc.). Because of this , I found out something really neat . Guess what ? Policemen ( and women ) are people , just like us . For whatever reason they have chosen their profession , and 99.9% of them do it to the best of their ability. I also appreciated the employment of a unique "murder weapon " which is the best of science (real/practical) fiction. Hope to see another BEF sometime maybe. Bill Hodges
A BS. Texas Police Department Western Action Adventure (BP) (B&LB - 7)
BS. has penned a Texas Police Department western action adventure titled, "Bone's Paradox" which has two separate crime scenes and monologues. The first is the local Children Services has numerous problems and requires an investigation. The second is three deaths, unexplained, until Bone remember training he received in the Marine Corps. Then he and his partner begin to work to make the clues fit. This is an excellent read for the genre.....DEHS
