On her 16th birthday, orphan Himari Momochi inherits the ancestral estate she’s never seen. Momochi House exists on the barrier between the human and spiritual realms, and Himari is meant to act as guardian between the two worlds. But on the day she moves in, she finds three handsome squatters already living in the house, and one seems to have already taken over her role!
Saying goodbye to a villain is rather poignant in The Demon Prince of Momochi House because it always signals changes between Himari and Aoi. Don't get me wrong I enjoy changes as their relationship is threatened and deepens. This time... GAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH! Yes... that is me screaming!! The tension mounted as I tried to understand where we were going from the previous Nue... and then suddenly BAM! Aoi drops a bomb and I'm wondering what the heck?! How is Himari going to react, she's 16 freaking years old!? And then Kasha, what the hell?! To say this is tense is an understatement... I give the tension 10 out of 5 stars!
The plot was good, I enjoyed the way things resolved with the previous Nue... And I was totally taken in my Hayato's sudden appearance and Aoi being where he can't go... And I liked that Hayato stepped in and wouldn't allow Aoi to make all the decisions. But I didn't understand what the heck this had to do with anything... The transition was abrupt between the different events. It felt rushed. Still I'm blow away by where the story is heading! I am always interested when Kasha comes to play and he really is jerking our chains this time...
The threat implicit in the events of volume 12 is a very real one that I'm happy the mangaka resisted for the most part until now! It makes her relationship with Aoi build to a breaking point and potentially spins Himari's reaction in a totally different direction! I do wonder though what the Nue thinks... We didn't really get his reaction which I would have liked. The mangaka has done a really great job showing us that he isn't as sanguine as he'd like us to think. I anticipate us getting a view into what the Nue thinks in the next volume though!
The art is gorgeous. I love how the mangaka plays with light and darkness... her use of space and closeups of faces! The mangaka could totally rely on her art (yes, she is that talented!) and not bother with such a developed and compelling story and it would still be enjoyable... but she goes the extra mile to give us both!! I think this really comes to play as we see the previous Nue leave Momochi House in the most gorgeous way possible...
I can't get enough of The Demon Prince of Momochi House with the Nue and the living house! Aoi and Himari are humans I TOTALLY ship and NEED to see happy... but until we get to the end I'll enjoy the journey as they explore ways to break his bond and free his soul... I only hope Himari makes it to the end...
As a writer volumes where we end a story arc are pretty fascinating to me. We certainly get a resolution to that story arc and deal with the fall out of everyone's growth due to the experience. Sometimes there is a pretty chapter where the residents of Momochi House gather together and share a neat experience (I love those!), at other times we get a short arc with a side character (like here!) and sometimes we get tossed into the deep end with the next arc (previous volume!)... Whichever it is Aya Shouoto keeps us guessing and I LOVE her for that!

I really enjoyed the mininature garden arc and seeing some of Aoi’s darker side. The ending was wild and I immediately checked out volume 13 from the Libby app.
WOW!!! WHAT A CLIFFHANGER!!! I AM SHOOK!!! This series continues to progress in a very positive way for me. I am really enjoying what they are doing with Aoi's character. The progression with Aoi and the Nue is a beautiful tug of war that I love watching unfold. I am very much looking forward to what will happen coming up. We are really starting to come into a lot more knowledge about Momochi House as well, and I am HERE FOR IT!!!!!!!!!!!
El arc termina en el primer capítulo, en los siguientes dos tenemos algo sobre un sueño de Hayato, y el cuarto WTF KASHA YOU CAN STOP ?! Amo cuando pinta lo oscuro.
Himari Momochi and Aoi Nanamori work together to figure out the concern of Hayata Hidaki reason for falling asleep into a dream like state for a week. Himari got an item from Yukari and is now insisting that Aoi go and help Hidaki. Aoi finds a cursed image and finds out that it connects to the girl jumping off the roof and they figure out what to do to save themselves and the girl. The girl woke up from a ten year coma as though it was just a dream. It was a miracle they got stuck and saved her.
Aoi and Hidaki woke up from the whole mess and went back to their normal lives. Aoi and Himari went back to a nice and peaceful life. Himari needed a shikigami for some reason and Aoi had a simple way for her to be able to take care of it all. Two rings that help her become a shikigami beginner. They put it on the left and right hand and it was only meant for the left hand and they messed up and their hands conjoined for hours. They were fine with it because their hands finally came apart and Himari went to go to the bathroom before going to bed and on her way there Kasha shot her and said, "Try dying once."
What's going to happen next?! The suspense is killing me!!!
Ho dato ⭐️⭐️⭐️
I couldn't remember what happened in the previous volume (this series is a bit forgettable for me), but it didn't much matter as the arc ended in the first chapter of this volume.
The next couple of chapters tell a great horror story with Aoi's childhood friend, Hayato. I think I'd enjoy Momochi House more if the story got out into the "real" world more, but since Aoi's stuck at the house, I guess it makes sense that most of the story takes place at Momochi House.
Then, at the end of this volume we see Kasha. Kasha's perhaps my favorite character in this series, so this next arc might be a good one.
All in all, this was a strong installment of this series, but it's still not much of a draw for me.
What a cliff hanger, it went from 0 to 100 very quickly, which of course has me hooked and want to read the next one immediately. After getting into this series and discovering more about the characters, and falling even more in love with their relationship and personalities, I remain hooked on this story. I would say to anyone reading this review, stick with the series; it may be cheesy but the plot is very original, and it is addicting.
As the previous Nue story closes, we get a reunion of sorts between Aoi and Hayato. I love a good recursion tale (read Mitsurou Kubo’s Again!! for a great series in that vein), and I like the cursed angle this short tale takes. The cliffhanger in this one is a real heart stopper—literally. Just when Aoi and Himari just seemed to be moving forward.
Each of these arcs seem to wrap up so fast. I liked the story of Aoi trapped in a ground-hog day situation and I really loved the Himari/Aoi episode. And that ending was truly a CLIFFHANGER. I was like WHAT?! when Kasha appeared.
One thing about this series is how amazing the art communicates the emotions that each character are feeling at the moment. Himari's expression was the most wrenching moment and Aoi's reaction. Thank god it gets better in the next volume!
A bittersweet conclusion to the drama of the old Nue and his shikigami. Also, through some weird magic coincidence, Aoi gets to hang out with Hayato again. Then they jump to their deaths. (Kidding...sorta).
And this volume ends on a very big WTF moment. Dammit Kasha, I wasn't expecting murder.
Did a massive re-read/catch up with this entire series. Beautiful artwork and the story was just as good as I remember it (and it kept me up until 2 in the morning so that's always a good thing...)

This was cool! It delves into the creepy aspect that this story has had since the beginning. Most of this volume felt like side stories. They were decently done, just had no major impact on the overall story.
Oppp the bad guy is back. Its still really interesting but I don't think all the sub stories strings are brought together super well. Is this gonna have a HEA or is it gonna be emotional damage like Fushigi yugi, which I wouldn't hate if done right.
