Ed is a senior infant now and that means he can use the big boys toilet. Ed needs to go but he just can't. Maybe, just maybe there is a way out - Gran's potty. This is no ordinary potty. Can it save the day?
Eoin Colfer (pronounced Owen) was born in Wexford on the South-East coast of Ireland in 1965, where he and his four brothers were brought up by his father and mother, who were both educators.
He received his degree from Dublin University and began teaching primary school in Wexford. He has lived and worked all over the world, including Saudi Arabia, Tunisia and Italy. After the publication of the Artemis Fowl novels, Eoin retired from teaching and now writes full time. He lives in Ireland with his wife and two children.
Ed Cooper is now in senior infants and that means he has to use the big boys’ toilet. The story is based around Ed needed to go but he just can’t use the big boys’ toilet. The book brings about the question of what can Ed do? He can’t hold on until he gets home forever just because he’s afraid of the senior infants toilet. This book focuses on an issue that affects many children of this age group. It is rather daunting moving up a class especially as at that age children get comfortable with the routine and environment there in. It is a humorous and imaginative read for young children dealing with overcoming fears no matter how silly. It appeals to a lot of children and would be a very apt book to read in the classroom especially as some children might not feel confident in discussing this fear. It tackles the fear in a humorous manner.
