This is the rerelease of the first book in the Annabelle series. The original came out August 2017. This book contains gore and violence, if that's not your thing, this may not be the book for you. It's Annabelle's 21st birthday, her friends decide to play a little prank on her. It's not just a normal prank though, it's cruel. So she decides that they all have to die.
If you want a weird and wacky novel with gore and a book that is reminiscent of those slasher serial killer movies that go a little OTT, then Driven to Insanity is the book for you. I had no idea that this would turn out a full cray-cray level. The book starts with Annabelle's 21st birthday party and her friends getting her drunk and wasted. They also drug her, and when she wakes up, she is holding a meat cleaver and is covered in blood. There is a whole lot of blood, and to make it worst, there is an arm in her bed that looks like it has been hacked. Annabelle can't remember a thing and thinks she is going crazy. She tries to talk to her friends, and they act like they don't know what she is talking about, maybe she is going insane. Later she finds a hidden camera and learns about the prank her so-called friends played on her. Little do they know that the hoax pushed her over the edge and she has reached the insane level and now she's coming for them and sadly they don't realize this will be their last night on earth. In a way, I could see how this could work in real life, but I do hope that none of my friends are this insane or crazy enough to pull such a prank.
First, I love the cover art which allows the reader to get a visual of Annabelle. Secondly, this is a series, but each book can be read as a standalone. Thirdly, this is a good story falling under the horror genre. Lastly, Author Ridley keep writing, your style is refreshing.
