Andi and Dawn collide (literally) on a beach in Mexico. This leads the women to indulge in a hot and steamy, but short-lived fling. After returning to their respective homes on the East Coast, they begin a long-distance affair. An affair that quickly turns from casual to serious.
Tess has been Dawn’s best friend since they were seven years old. She has also been in love with Dawn since discovering she liked girls in junior high school. In an attempt to win Dawn’s heart, she has successfully sabotaged every relationship Dawn has ever attempted to have, but still has not moved past the friend zone.
Will Andi and Dawn’s new-found love fall victim to Tess’s sabotage? And just how far is Tess willing to go to have Dawn for herself?

Maybe I need to stop reading scary books when I’m all alone at home and the only sounds are the wind and the rain against the windows, or one of my cats running around, making me jump. At first glance, this might look like a romance but it’s not. Oh, there’s some romance all right, but it’s not what this book is about. The real topic is a friendship gone very wrong, when one person has much bigger feelings than the other and won’t take no for an answer.
Dawn and Tess have been friends since second grade. They dated briefly at some point and stayed friends afterwards. But Tess never got over Dawn and still hopes her love will be returned some day. So when Dawn, while on holidays with Tess, meets Andi and it’s clear pretty soon that their affair is not a mere summer fling, Tess loses it big time.
While not my usual kind of story, Breaking Point is very well done. It’s a novella rather than a novel, which makes it a bit too short for the author to develop the events as much as I would have liked. Probably for the same reasons, the romance feels a little rushed. Andi and Dawn have fantastic chemistry right from the start but the falling in love happens way too fast, maybe because the sex scenes are a lot more detailed than the getting-to-know-you scenes.
Then again, this is a debut, and despite these flaws, it’s rather promising. I mean, I'm still kinda shivering…
I received a copy from the author and I am voluntarily leaving a review.
Andi and Dawn are instantly attracted to one another when they meet on their travels abroad, they hit it off, and decide that they would like to keep seeing one another, but there is a problem! Dawn’s best friend has feelings for her, and has for some time. These feelings often lead to heartbreak for Dawn and she has a lot to deal with if she is truly going to find happiness this time with Andi.
I loved the fast pace of this novella. It kept the excitement and the drama of the building tense situation unfolding in this unconventional love triangle with Andi, Dawn and Tess. Obsession played a big part in this plot and created all the drama and intensity when getting to know the characters and their situation. The first person narrative also largely helped with getting a quick insight into the characters thoughts and feelings, from both Andi, and Dawn’s points of view. It was very exciting, and had a lot of build-up and tension to keep the reader hooked, and fully invested in the outcome of the relationship between Andi and Dawn.
I just wish this had been a novel! It happened so quickly that it was all over so fast and I wanted there to be more!!!
I liked the instant attraction between Andi and Dawn, that they were so forward, outspoken, and just going for what they wanted. It made a change to have two strong character personalities coming together like that. Their relationship was interesting as they just seemed made for each other, and that level of understanding and caring that could only really come from characters with life experiences was refreshing. Tess was my favourite character though. Even though the story wasn’t hers, and nothing was told from her perspective, she was the driving force and the glue of it, and I loved how her character developed throughout the unfolding drama.
A great, exciting novella that makes me really excited to read Amy’s future works!!!
Quick paced Dramatics! Tess and Dawn are best friends but Tess wants more but Dawn wants Andi. This simplistic tale is a very quickly moving short story (it has to move quickly due to length) with hints of friendship, love, lust, romance, angst and drama. Its interesting and entertaining. It is Ms Bright’s debut but I don’t think we have seen the last from her.
I gave it a 5 because it is a good book. I love it when they show what each one thinks and feels. Maybe everything developed too fast but overall is a really good book.
A great lesfic steamy romance. Two characters develop super quickly, making the dramatic events of the latter part feel quite 3D and a real live part of the story.
A holiday romance develops into something far more serious but all seems to be lost as dramatic events unfold.
I rated this 4* rather than 5 as it seemed over far too quickly and I think the two lovers have far more to tell, especially given the epilogue.
4 stars as the writing and development was good throughout. Whilst the story is a fairly quick read I dont think that it needs longer. Everything came to a nice conclusion and the balance between sweet and drama was spot on for me. I look forward to more.
A very beautiful story with intense moments. Touching a very serious issue and slightly showing the fear dealing with this. Happy end with real involved characters and so real dialogues. I am going to read more books of Amy Bright.
This was a good short story with alot of action. The romance was rushed but was expected with the length of it. Overall it was really good and interesting.
